I've only use this with Gen 3x4 NVMe cards. But seems to work well.
I've use this to clone a Crucial P3 1TB from an old Toshiba NVMe and I've recently used it with an WD SN530 1TB on a Surface pro 7+. This adapter is so inexpensive but it works for everything I've needed it for. It's not going to give maximum speed for what some of these chips can do but it gives you more than enough speed and I believe I was getting about 300 MB per second during my heaviest cloning. Which was fine for my application. There's only one small issue I have with it and it has to do with the plastic enclosure. The plastic enclosure has a slot that you have to get your NVE chip through in order to make a connection to the actual port inside. You can see the port through a little window. The problem is this slot is exactly sized to the drive's width so when I placed the heat sink on the drive in order to place it in my Surface pro 7+ the heat sink made the drive slightly too wide and I could no longer insert it in the adapter. I had to use a whole other adapter to test out the final heatsinked drive. That was a minor irritation but could be a big issue if you're using any kind of heat sink. I didn't feel like trying to break the enclosure open or try to file the slot larger. They made it for bare drives only, please consider that when purchasing. I've also use it on devices that are low power and for the most part I didn't have a big problem but I'm unsure with some modern NVMe power requirements if you could use this with a USB-C hub or not. Likely not. Considering how inexpensive it was it was exactly what I needed so I'm thrilled with the purchase and will keep this for future uses. If you're looking for a full-time enclosure get something with the heat sink made of metal. This is for temporary use only but it does the job well and I experienced no disconnects or other oddities with the adapter. I recommend it for cloning and quick data recovery. ... show more

Compact and convenient.
I needed an adapter to be able to read NVMe drives via USB. The size is great, the speed of transfers where fast. The quality seems to be nice, and it was compatible with my USB-C and my NVMe drive. It seems pretty durable. The opening threw me off at first, but after I figured out how to insert the drive I actually appreciated having it there. ... show more

Perfect for writing to NVME Drives
I use this to write drive images to NVME M2.5 drives for use in Single Board Computers (Orange PI 5 Plus NVME drives) and it works splendidly. Before this device, I had to insert my NVME drives in a usb-c case, write disk image, then remove NVME from case to install in the Orange Pi 5 plus. This streamlined the process. The only thing which might be an issue is that the unit doesn't allow for heatsinks on the NVME while inserted, and the drive may get hot during long read/writes while inserted in the unit. ... show more

Nice, but doesn't quite reach 10 Gbps
This docking station works as advertised. Very convenient if you deal with constantly changing NVMe sticks. But I can't get it to actually max out the promised 10 Gbps performance. The fastest stick I have right now is a Crucial P3 500 GB (purchased right here). This stick is advertised as supporting up to 3500 MB/s read but real-world performance in a OWC Envoy TB3 enclosure (capable of up to 2,800m MB/s) was about 1,500/1,300 r/w. However, the very best I was able to measure with this docking station was ~ 850 MB/s. And that just isn't quite good enough considering this is on a built-in TB4 port of a 14" MBP where you'd expect to see the full 10 Gbps of a 3.2 gen 2 10Gbps dock. But unfortunately it only came in at about 85% of that. It was very inexpensive though (got mine for $15 plus tax). Overall I'd say decent, but in the end, you do get what you paid for. ... show more

Returned. 1. NOT Upfacing input. Only one SIDE Input. 1.1. ...Not a DUAL Input. 2. Failed to INITILIZE my New SSD. BRICKED MY New SSD. 2.1 ... Tried an alreday working SSD. Almost Bricked my Working SSD in computer mgmnt trying to find it. 3. Website is GEARED Towards Supporting, True. But more geared toward 'checking boxing' that support was provided. not necelarily support that "Solved" your problem. 4. KPI on solved issues versus, people thinking it was their fault and wasting time on your site wanted. KPI on DOD Product wanted. 5. NO 3.0 TYPE-A ADAPTER PROVIDED!!! (How annoying is this for laptop users). 6. YOUR NOT gonna get any greater then SATA Speed with this anyway. 300MB/s Tops. No matter what kind of M.2 you purchase. 6.1 ...No matter what M.2 you purchase. Just a reminder, not a typo. 7. Quality: Shamefully designed this way on Purpose to trick both user and amazon into thinking its a dual input device; Wasting both Customer and Franchise platform. They need off the platform. Excellent tool to have on hand
This little device is fantastic. I bought this for use with imaging SSDs for Raspberry Pi 5s and it works flawlessly. The imaging process is lightning fast, zero connections issues, and the price is entirely reasonable. End of day extremely happy with the item.
