Description

There are many factors to consider when upgrading from 3.5" hard-drive (HDD) to 2.5" solid-state drive (SSD). One of those is that direct mounting of SSDs in most desktop computer cases is not possible due to lack of dedicated 2.5" drive bays. Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket is a perfect solution to this problem. It is an adapter specially designed to securely mount up to two 2.5" SSDs into existing standard 3.5" hard-drive bay. It fits any desktop computer case with at least one standard 3.5” hard-drive bay available. The installation is straight-forward, which makes for the hassle-free transition to SSD.

  • A little tight for cable management but very useful
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Dual SSD Mount
I would have liked to have the option to put the SSD further back to make it easier to put the cover back on (The power and SATA connections are a little bulky) but I'm in the process of consolidating and tying up the cables. When I'm done, all will be well (the job is well overdue). The mounting bracket allows for greater drive density which gives me room for 6 SSDs if need be (there are six SATA connections on the MSI motherboard). Power connectors can be split and converted to SSD power connectors. A mirrored drive might be a good option here for the more important data. SSDs generate very little heat compared to physical drives. I have removed all mechanical drives because there is another slot for a drive on the top of the case which I really like because the drives just plug in and are connected internally - very handy, especially for backups and heat reduction inside the case. Easy to add and remove SATA drives of any kind. I did order another mounting bracket so that I have plenty of room for more SSDs. There are 5 drive slots in this case, 6 if you remove the CD/DVD drive. I have a 500 GB SSD for OS 10/11 and a 1 TB SSD for data, like photos from the hi-res iPhone cameras in the 15 Pro and music files. The bracket is metal rather than the plastic bracket that came with the case. I've had the case for over 10 years. Easy to change the motherboard and processor when the time comes. Easy to manage many SSD drives, especially with this double mounting bracket which is reasonably priced. I also have a 128 GB SSD for storing documents and smaller file types. I like to remove what data I can from the OS drive so it doesn't keep growing in size over time (Documents, pictures, music etc). SSDs have come down in price quite significantly and make it feasible to go completely SSD (have a backup schedule), which eliminates the need for heat-generating and bulky mechanical drives that can always be connected to the connection on top of the cabinet where heat is not an issue. I have a 1TB backup mechanical drive up there. The cabinet can accommodate four large fans which cools the processor down nicely without going to water cooling (6-core AMD). The cabinet is quite large and roomy inside and replacing drives is a breeze. ... show more

  • It works, but takes a bit of modification
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Dual SSD Mount
Pros: 1: now I have two laptop SSDs in one of the unused 3.5" bays in my desktop. 2: my desktop has about a half-inch clearance between the drive bay and the side of the case, but I was able to mount the bottom drive flush with the edge and the top drive slide back as far as it would go, which gave me room to get the SATA connector on it. Con: like at lease one other reviewer said, the tabs to mount the top SSD are cut and bent a little too high, so I had to bend them down to line up the screwholes on the drive with the slots on the frame. All in all, an easy enough way to mount two SSDs in a single 3.5" bay. The only reason I won't order another one is because I only have one remaining SATA port, and no expansion slots. ... show more

  • How do you attach drive screws to the lower bay with a screw driver
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Dual SSD Mount
This is my third review where I reference my dad having an HDD drive failure. I purchased this Corsair bracket to hold an SSD in the place of where a 1TB 3.5" drive was mounted. I knew that the Acer PC case would not accommodate an SSD without a bracket as the sole 3.5" bay was meant for a mechanical 3.5" drive. The Acer chassis drive bay was designed in such a manner that the old 1TB HDD was mounted using the 4 mounting screw holes on the bottom of the drive. I never saw this before. This Corsair bracket did have the necessary holes for mounting in this manner. The bracket itself had a minor issue sliding into place where the old drive was mounted. So, I had to leave a little bit of play when putting the screws into the bracket with the SSD installed into it. In my opinion, I think the bracket was a little taller than the drive it replaced or a little longer and it butted up against the Acer chassis making it a little bit of a pain. If I had to install this bracket into a regular drive bay that you would see in most aftermarket DIY cases, I do not believe there would not be any issue. So, I think this was Acer's problem, not Corsair's. Again, I did not tighten the screws down super hard, but they are still secured enough that the bracket is not going anywhere. The real nuisance was installing the SSD into the backet. The bracket holds 2 physical SSDs. I ended up placing my SSD into the top of the two available drive bays in the bracket. The bracket comes with all the screws you need to mount 2 drives along with installing the bracket into a drive bay. Which is great. I always like getting the drive and bracket mounting screws. However, when you put the SSD into the bracket, I cannot figure out how I am to put the tiny screw into a mounting screw hole on the SSD and get a screwdriver to that screw and have it not fall over. Trying to balance the bracket on its side and place a screw precariously in a hole on the SSD and then gently fish a screwdriver shaft thru the small space in the bracket to get to said screw is definitely a physical challenge that would have been something that should have been used on contestants on the old Nickelodeon game show Double Dare. Maybe I am to use a smaller screwdriver than what I had available? Maybe I am to use a magnetic tip screwdriver? I do not know. The bracket did not come with any type of installation instructions that I could find. It may be one of those things that installing screws and SSDs into this type of bracket is so obvious that it does not require documentation. I am one of those type of folks that the obvious escapes me and I need someone else to point the obvious out to me. For example, whenever I get an easy open package of chips, pretzels, frozen French fries, frozen chicken fingers, or frozen fish sticks and if those type of products are in easy open packaging and have a resealable zip lock type mechanism, I end up destroying the bag and the zip lock mechanism. For these situations if my wife nor children are not around, I just grab a pair of scissors to open these types of products and then I can't even cut the bag correctly so as to get me to the zip lock mechanism and I still end up hacking the bag to oblivion with a pair of scissors. So, this could be a twofold problem. The obvious, escaping me on how to mount SSD into the bracket and my lack of dexterity to perform the task at hand. All this aside, this is a great product for most people, and it was even a good product for me as well. If I need to mount more SSD's into 3.5" bays, I will grab another one of these brackets and watch a video on how to properly use this product going forward. ... show more

  • Came with all the right screws!
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Dual SSD Mount
I was very pleased with this bracket. I only needed to mount 1 drive per computer, but this looks like I can support mounting two. It certainly came with all the hardware required to do so even if it might be a tight fit to attach cable. Sturdy, easy to mount and fit. Came with screws to mount the drives. ... show more

I used this to replace a 3.5 inch HDD with a Samsung 870 EVO SSD in a Dell OptiPlex SFF tower; installation could not have been simpler. Great product.
