  • 10 out of 10 would buy again
Style: ROG Arion Size: Black|up to 10Gbps
Love this thing. Use it as external for pictures and other files. Haven't had any issues setting it up or getting it to connect. Boot time is fast but I think that pertains to what your using for a drive. Its a glorified protective case with rgb but the durability so far has been great.

  • Worth the Miku tax
Style: ROG Arion Size: White|Miku Edition
The enclosure feels high quality and the Miku details are cute. Works perfectly with my 4TB drive. If you follow the very simple picture directions… the enclosure lid will sit flush like out of the box. Seriously, FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and you won’t have issues with closing it after installation.

  • Exceeds all the expectations
Style: ROG Arion Size: White|up to 10Gbps
Great product if you need a case to use your M.2 NVMe as external storage. Easy to install and set up. The speed is a bit lower than PCI-E but still breaks the limit of SSD. Compatible with most USB standarts.

  • Many user errors in negative reviews, Enclosure works fine
Style: ROG Arion Size: Black|up to 10Gbps
Some reviewers seem to not know a fresh NVME needs to be formatted via a direct install on a mobo BEFORE you put it in the enclosure. Yes, this is somewhat annoying & IMO, bad design, but it's common across all of these enclosures as far as I've seen. Some negative reviewers also don't seem to know Gb (gigabits) and GB (gigabytes) are different. A byte is 8 bits, so the actual theoretical max speed (if you plug it into the correct USB slot & have a compatible cable & read from a drive as fast or faster than the USB connection, errors some reviewers are also making) is 1250 MB/s. USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 has a theoretical cap of 10Gbps (aka 1250 MB/s), that is what the drive is using, but you need to plug it into a USB 3.2 gen2x1 port. There is also a 3.2 gen1x1 port that is half the bandwidth and a very uncommon 3.2 gen2x2 port that is double the bandwidth (20Gbps). Some people are plugging this into 3.2 gen1x1 or even USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports & getting much lower speeds. User error. Real world, you won't see 1250 MBps anyway though due to oddities of software in the way USB is implemented in the board & the OS. The file structure you're transferring also matters. Many small files will not transfer anywhere close to that. It also matters what drive you're transferring from. From a HDD platter drive or an SD card, these will bottleneck you. An old style 2.5" SSD might even bottleneck you. Best case I see around 900-950 MBps on large single files, which is solid. ... show more

  • Phenomenal SSD enclosure!
Style: ROG Arion Size: Black|up to 10Gbps
I've never dealt with SSD enclosures before. I was looking to add storage space but didn't feel like opening devices. I have to say, after using it for a little while, purchasing the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion was a great decision. Setup for the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion was rather easy...for the most part. It came with everything needed. Didn't even require the M2 screw to be removed. The device includes a heatsink, which, at first I was a little wary about. I struggled to get the device to lock closed. I've looked over the instructions a million times to see if I'm missing something, if I am, it wasn't written clearly. While I can close the device, it doesn't quite lock back shut. With everything installed, I connected it to my computer. With the tests I ran, the speeds come pretty close to the 10 Gb speed promised by the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion. Close enough to not complain. 10 Gbps (gigabits, not gigabytes) equals around 1250 Megabytes, my tests came back with speeds of around 1000. For me, that's close enough considering this storage was added via USB. A lot of other USB devices that have promised similar speeds have come up short, and while I could install the Samsung 990 in my computer to get the speeds up to its max capacity, with the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion, this internal SSD becomes a USB storage device that can be used with anything I choose, which is a major win. The RGB lighting is a nice little addition, but what has really impressed me is the way the device maintains a cool temperature even while in use. I have no fear of the storage failing due to overheating while using the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion. For those looking to add some extra storage, the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion is a wise choice for turning internal storage into external USB storage. While it is a bit pricier than some of its competition, I'd say its ability to keep a decent temp while in use makes it worth it. I'm willing to wager I made some error in attempting to relock the device, hopefully, you don't run into the same issue. ... show more
