    • This stuff works.
It’s now Dec.30. I purchased my tree from Costco on Nov. 27. It was dropping needles like crazy, I watered several times before this arrived on dec 3. I opened the packet and poured it into the tree base then filled it up with water again. The needle drop completely stopped and I basically have only added water 1x the entire month of December. I have LED lights running on the tree almost 24/7. When I’m removing the ornaments I have almost no needle drop at all! So happy to give the vacuum a break this year. This is an excellent product for keeping the Christmas tree fresh and green. There's additional plus. We have a dog and dogs seem to like to drink the water under the tree. Not a problem with The Oregon Forestry Laboratory preserver. A previous commentator said that all the branches fell off his tree with broken ornaments all over the floor. I had to laugh at that one. This guy must represent a competitor. The "naked" Christmas tree also ran off with all his Christmas presents too. ... show more

    • Update: Absolutely worthless
UPDATE 2: Sixteen days into use of this product and tree has stopped absorbing water, with needles falling from branches. Six more days until Christmas and I beginning to wonder if we'll have much of a tree left. IMO, absolutely worthless. UPDATE 1: Frankly I'm not noticing any benefit from this product. Less than two weeks in, and needles already dropping from lower branches, with 12 more days to go to Christmas. Original review: Just received this product. Two packs are pictured but they send one. That's a minus already. I just hope it works because we paid a pretty penny for a tree this year. I WILL be updating this review accordingly. ... show more

    • Worked Great!
We bought our tree from Costco at the beginning of December and bought used the Forestry Lab Tree Preserver on day 2. We did keep the water topped up, with the tree taking in 4 cups/day for the first couple days, then 2/day until Christmas. I didn't add any water after Christmas and when I took the tree down the needles were still soft and the tree lokoed great! There was some clear gel chunks in the bottom of the stand when I took the tree out that I assume are from this preservative, had to sweep those up.     • Blamed it on the dogs
I don’t want to say the product didn’t work. It’s so hard to say. A Christmas tree drinks pretty much all the water it’s going to in the first 24-48 hours after the cut. To be fair, we bought a fresh pre-cut from a local stand in Oregon + took a couple inches off upon arrival at the house. We learned in the past, this is a MUST. Trees start to heal after they’re cut. DO NOT FORGET YOUR FRESH CUT AT HOME. Think “wood cookie”. We like to buy right after thanksgiving and keep ours up until after the 1st of the year - essentially 5 weeks. I would say this year, using the Forestry Lab product, we didn’t notice a whole lot of difference in lifespan. We did add it on day 2 because Amazon’s shipment was late. I don’t know if that made the *difference* or not, but we started smelling something foul in week 3. I was walking around accusing the dogs of this scent. I thought someone mystery puked in my house. The smell was somewhere between raw sewage and cheese. Lots of apologies have been since made. We did bust out the shopvac and remove the water from the tree stand and give it fresh water. The smell went away completely! Again, lots of variables. Not enough data to know if this product was effective. Neutral score. ... show more

Our tree stayed fresh. I can’t say for sure if it was this product or just a great tree. The tree didn’t need much water so l think this did some kind of magic to keep the tree happy and green.

Last year I was not sure about the product once I got it and really was amazed at how the gel stays moist and kept the base of the tree damp. I'm thrilled to see it listed on Amazon now! Only had to add water 3 times in a month the tree was up. And I have pets and of course they want to drink from the tray, there was no issues with either of my pets. I highly recommend this product since I had tried the liquid 2 years ago and went through 2-3 bottles in one season! This stuff you just need the one pack and costs much less.
