Last year i bought 5 for the garden. Made a a sprinkler system with short hoses to hook up to one long one. My garden was tall so the other ground sprinklers didn't work great. These worked really well! They will do a rather large area if only one is hooked up, and area goes smaller for each other one hooked along with it- which works great cuz i have wide and narrow gardens. I love everything about these, except i wish you could hook 2 rods together to make it twice as tall. Also i left my sprinklers out last winter and they all broke except 2 (my bad) so i had to order more- this year i ordered 10 to put in others places as well! but i think if they were put away through the winter they would last, so I'll try that this year. I love the solid quality of this sprinkler and the fact that it covers a very large area if it needs to. My husband and I both find the spray to be somewhat sculptural and enjoy it, which is kind of weird, but pleasant. I'm glad I bought two- one for the front garden, and one for the back. I also bought a small spot sprinkler (try saying that five time fast) from the same manufacturer and I like that one a lot as well. This sprinkler seems well made. It does not lock to lengh. It locks to the short length, or allows water pressure to let it expand to full length.
