I have an unhealthy relationship with ice. I will go to the places that serve nugget ice and fill up large cups and bring them home. I have broken down the places that have the best ice. Sonic is usually known as peak, but the real winner is Maverik (IYKYK). Eventually it started to wain on me and it was not ideal to keep going out for ice. I searched for an ice machine for almost a month thinking the best I could hope for was something similar to sonic (which would have been great). However!! I decided to try once more for the holy grail Maverik nugget ice. I ran into this and it didn’t have that many reviews, based on the pictures I thought it was worth a shot. Let me tell you something. It’s the best ice. THE BEST. It’s like Maverik but even better. If you’ve decided to spend the money on a nugget/pebble ice maker, my assumption is that I’m speaking your language, this is the one! Get some freezer gallon bags! The ice is great fresh (a little more chewy) and after it’s been frozen (crunchy right away and snowy if you wait).

If you are like me and studied all the photos trying to see the real shape of the ice on these pellet ice makers, looking for the true can shape with the layers of ice that absorb flavor and make the drink colder, faster, look no further! This is the one! I have only had it a week, so hopefully it keeps working well, but I love it so far!

This is a surprisingly heavy ice maker! I thought that it would be lighter based on the size in the description. I was mistaken when I went to retrieve it and discovered the package was almost 40lbs. I let it sit upright for the better part of about 4 hours before I cleaned it, then started using it. Overall, its definitely helpful. I like having an ice maker on my countertop as opposed to having to buy a bag every now and then. I love the nugget ice, so that is an added bonus. It does seem to get quite warm on the side with the vent (despite it being away from the wall and anything else. It isnt very quiet either. Like a loud hum or a fan in the backround loud, but its white noise. It does take a while for the ice to start producing at the get go. Once it starts, it is pretty consistent. You do have to keep an eye on the amount of water in the bottom. The disadvantage is that you have to lift the ice collection tray to see how much water is left if you want to check. If there was a way to make the reservoir visible externally, that would be beneficial. I did get an 8lb bag filled pretty easily - but it took about 4 hours. It's not incredibly fast but it is efficient.

Ice is a critical component to my drinks. My drinks have to be really cold and my water bottle needs to be filled with ice at all times. I also enjoy chewing small pieces of ice. Our refrigerator makes and dispenses ice cubes, but they are far too large to munch on. We pretty much only use the ice in the refrigerator for coolers and when we need to fill a large water bottle for a sports game. This is our 3rd countertop ice maker. I had to get it when I saw it made Sonic ice. My other countertop ice makers made the small bullet size cubes but not this small and not the pebble ice. You really do get the restaurant ice experience at home with this ice maker. The countertop does take up a decent amount of counter space so be prepared for that if you want one. This one is slightly larger than what we previously had. The ice cube tray holds more than our previous ice makers which is nice, but I did notice that the ice takes longer to make, probably because it is a smaller size, less are made at a time. The Oraimo ice cube maker has a self-cleaning feature which was not on either of our old ice makers. That is a really nice feature. After 100 hours of use, the cleaning light indicator will come on and stay on until the unit is cleaned. For removal of scale/mineral build up, you add distilled white vinegar or a citric acid descaling agent and let it sit for 12 hours then run the self-cleaning mode. You also run the self-cleaning mode when you first receive the ice maker. A feature I do wish the ice maker had is a holder on the side of the unit for the scoop. Our previous ice makers never had one either, so we have the scoop sits in a cup next to the maker. I would think it would be easy to have a tray attached to the size of the unit to store the scoop but there never seems to be one. The ice maker has a sensor to know when it is full and stops making ice. Once you take ice out, in order to start it again, you have to push a button. Our old ice makers just start up again once the ice was cleared from the sensor. I prefer the auto start up but definitely not a huge deal. It is just a push of a button.
