This is a super mystery for a girl or boy ages around 10 to 13 depending on reading ability. It is also suspenseful enough to read aloud by chapter. I found it when my own children were in school and now bought a copy for my grandchild. My daughter and I had fun rereading it. Willo Davis Roberts also wrote "The Girl with the Silver Eyes", another winner. After my kids were grown she wrote several others. Next time i get together with my granddaughter, I plan to bring "Megan's Island". Her books are engaging, realistic and real page turners. If you as an adult are struggling to assist your child in reading, these are stories that are enjoyed by all. ... show more

I just found out about Willo Davis Roberts now that I'm an adult. Roberts writes such fun stories - I plan to read them all! She adds just enough mystery and suspense to keep the middle-grade audience stuck to her stories. Wish I'd read them when I was a kid.

This was my favorite book as a child. I have searched high and low for it with no luck. I thought that it must be out of print. Something happened to this book. I remember the book from grade school and recall the cat was named SOB, son of a bitching cat. I'm dismayed that it would be changed.
