Description

This bestselling classic mystery from Willo Davis Roberts about a boy who witnesses a murder is “taut with suspense” (Booklist, starred review). Though Rob saw Mrs. Calloway fall to her death, strangled by the leather strap of her binoculars, he wants to believe that it was an accident. He wants to pretend he didn’t see the hands that pushed her out of her window. Then a flowerpot almost falls on him. And three bullets just miss him. And someone tries to poison his food. When he tries to tell his family that he thinks there has been a murder, they are too busy with his sister’s wedding to care. Will Rob be the murderer’s next victim? Read more

    • A favorite!
‘A View from the Cherry Tree’ is one of my favorite read-aloud books as a teacher. Great content to discuss scene setting, character study and predictions.

    • Great book!
This is a super mystery for a girl or boy ages around 10 to 13 depending on reading ability. It is also suspenseful enough to read aloud by chapter. I found it when my own children were in school and now bought a copy for my grandchild. My daughter and I had fun rereading it. Willo Davis Roberts also wrote "The Girl with the Silver Eyes", another winner. After my kids were grown she wrote several others. Next time i get together with my granddaughter, I plan to bring "Megan's Island". Her books are engaging, realistic and real page turners. If you as an adult are struggling to assist your child in reading, these are stories that are enjoyed by all. ... show more

I just found out about Willo Davis Roberts now that I'm an adult. Roberts writes such fun stories - I plan to read them all! She adds just enough mystery and suspense to keep the middle-grade audience stuck to her stories. Wish I'd read them when I was a kid.

    • Wonderful story for children aged 9+
This was my favorite book as a child. I have searched high and low for it with no luck. I thought that it must be out of print. I hadn't thought about searching Amazon (silly me), but when I finally did, there it was!! I am thrilled to have this wonderful book and I am super happy with Amazon for carrying it. ... show more

    • Not as I remember it
Something happened to this book. I remember the book from grade school and recall the cat was named SOB, son of a bitching cat. I'm dismayed that it would be changed.
