This cushion is the BEST for someone with a thoracic herniated disc who hates the curve of a bucket seat. It props me forward right where I need the straightening out in my mid to upper spine. A lot of vehicles, including mine (Honda CRV '16) have a head rest that juts forward and prevents me from very much neck range of motion, looking up, etc. which is especially annoying if you wear your hair in a ponytail a lot like I do. Bucket seats seem to be made as though they are designed for people with bad posture, but I don't have bad posture and I usually sit up straight, so bucket seats are TOO curved (ie, for a slumping posture!). By popping my whole thorax forward and sitting me up straighter, this cushion makes it so the back of my head isn't jammed into the headrest anymore. Totally worth the $40 pricetag - lifesaver, makes driving SO much more comfortable, and I'm still protected by my headrest in case of an accident. Now I take it with me when I travel in other people's vehicles too. I should probably buy a backup cushion! The cushion did start to curve a little to the shape of my seat after half a year of use but functions the same. I also don't tie it to the back of the bucket seat with the loops because they don't stay well, but I just manually adjust it behind my back every time I get in my vehicle. The cloth is soft and the cushion comfortable and it has been quite durable considering how much I use it and drive everywhere. ... show more

    • This product is excellent for promoting good posture!
This is one of the few products we found that supports the “thoracic area of the back”. Our cars with sunk in seats, supposedly for comfort, are promoting a nation of hunched backs and rounded shoulders. This product remins us to sit with healthy posture in the car or in chairs. We took off the straps, and it works well like that too. I would say the thoracic support could be longer and reach up closer to the neck, but this product promotes healthy posture better than anything we have tried. I am 27, but have suffered from extreme trigger points and tightness in my upper back for many years. I believe this is caused by rounded shoulders and poor posture while sitting at my desk for extended periods of time, but I also have 5 herniated disks in both my neck and thoracic spine which cause a lot of nerve tension radiating along the spine. I bought this product for my work desk in the hopes that it would help improve my posture and ease my sore upper back. I researched several products before purchasing this one because I wanted a product that specifically provided thoracic back support. I am grateful this one was designed with the upper back in mind, and was also priced reasonably compared to other products on the market. So far, I am very happy with this purchase. Looking back on older reviews, I believe I have the newly designed product with two straps so I don't have any issues with it slipping off the chair. The overall design of the product has been very helpful in making me more aware of my posture throughout the day, and my back falls really nicely into the unique shape of the pillow. The thoracic portion of the pillow feels especially nice cradling my spine, making it feel corrected and aligned. In my opinion, the pillow material is the perfect balance of softness and tenderness. My back and shoulders actually feel a bit sore from sitting up so straight, but I am hoping that is just the beginning of my back posture correcting itself. I have also noticed I am standing up straighter with my shoulders rolled back even when I am not at my desk. My chest feels more open. So far, I would highly recommend this product if you have upper back soreness and pain. I am only putting 4 stars for now because I have been in pain for many years, so only time will tell how I truly feel overtime! ... show more

Love the pillow portion of this device. Its unique reverse T shape supports posture like no other back support our family has used. I only give 3 stars though bc, it's next to impossible to use lying down or on the sofa or something since the straps do Not remove. Then again with straps, their lack of adjustment makes for some difficulty getting it onto some chairs, and keeping it from moving around. Also, the fabric covering the pillow is.. such that it wants to grab certain types of clothes. However once it is in place, it's excellent. There just tends to be a lot of adjusting when attempting to sit with it. Especially getting in and out of a car. Removable straps, and multiple optional slipcovers would take this item beyond 5 stars for me. ... show more

Other than the fact that Freud would have a field day with how this looks strapped to my office chair, this thing works great. It's like sitting on a chiropractor's lap. Great for realigning the spine to its proper position as well as muscle massage.

Supportive and well made. Straps hold it in place great. fomi and fellows are way to squishy and require constant adjustment.

    • Relieved thoracic discomfort, created lumbar discomfort
I tried to use this in both of my cars to relieve thoracic discomfort from long drives. I had tested it out briefly at my PT's office, and I was 90% sure it was going to work for me. However in real-world use I realized its shortcomings: I affixed this to two different car seats (both Toyota) to try it out, the provided elastic attachment bands did an adequate job. While this support relieved discomfort in my thoracic back, it created discomfort in the lowest region of my lumbar (the region without cushion support) after 10-15 minutes sitting/driving in my car. There was just no way to get fully comfortable with it, and because it pushes you out a bit from your seat, any motion (cornering, speed bumps) in the car allows your body to shift around instead of being otherwise locked/cradled into your seat. Perhaps I just needed a full-seat support, or maybe just purchase different cars in the future. So while it DID relieve thoracic discomfort, it created lumbar discomfort. Amazon's return process was easy, so I was satisfied in trying this out. With these types of items you really just have to try it out for yourself, as everyone has different body requirements. ... show more

    • Game changer
I've been a homecare nurse for 20 years, driving all day to patients, having bought almost everything sold on the market, always having ergonomic issues. I realized that bucket seats, particularly for my 5'4 stature, really just force your shoulders forward even worse than the regular bad posture everyone has these days. I've of course used lumbar support, but the vertical cushion is a game changer. It does take time for your shoulders to adapt after years of bad posture. However, now that I have, I feel significantly better. Sure, it's a little annoying to have to slightly adjust when you slide into your seat. But it's definitely worth it for the overall quality of life. ... show more
