  • Optoma Laser UHD (UHZ66) is out of this world!
Style: UHZ66 (4000 Lm, HDMI eARC/ARC)
Amazing picture quality; brightness, clarity and color all beautiful. Low noise. Needed to adjust to HDR brightness for my room but very easy to do. Using this for UHD Bluray 2D/3D, 4k Firestick, PS5 Pro and Switch 2. All run great and the 3D movies are incredible; very colorful and crisp (way better than at the movies). Very pleased overall! ... show more

  • Highly recommend!
Style: UHZ45 (Previous Model, 3800 Lm)
Obviously not cheap per se, but worth every penny. I've tried several others and all had their pros and cons, this unit has no cons. Nice picture, good color and yes you can watch this in broad daylight. Im at about 10,000 hours of play at this time and have had zero issues. It just works.

  • BUYER BEWARE!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Dead Pixels and Bad DMD Chip. DONE WITH OPTOMA!
Style: UHZ50 (Previous Model, 3000 Lm, Smart Home)
I am very frustrated. This projector had dead pixels due to the faulty DMD chip in the very first month so I was able to return it to Amazon (thank goodness) and they exchanged it. That was unit #1. Unit #2 - this one had the same failure right after the 1-year warranty ended. I will never understand why a several thousand dollar unit would only have a 1-year warranty. It should be at least 2 years but more like 5 years seems appropriate when you spend this kind of money. Try #3 - Now even after having the DMD chip replaced, I am AGAIN, getting dead pixels before we are even at 90 days. This unit is obviously a lemon to have the same issue happen so many times in a row and in such short time frames. I keep my home immaculately clean and I air the projector out once a month like clockwork. I also have the unit set with my AV receiver to auto-turn off whenever there is no activity for 20 minutes. The unit is in open air and well-ventilated so I don't understand what the cause is except for an inherently defective DMD chip. I honestly don't think there is anything more I could do to baby this unit barring putting a custom cooling unit on it, which I shouldn't have to do. I would really like to see Optoma get me into a unit that is equal to or better than the UHZ50. I feel that I have been through enough with this unit. Every time it goes out, my family has no home entertainment for several weeks which is unacceptable. Not to mention the hassle of uninstalling the unit from the ceiling and having to reinstall, adjust, and recalibrate every time. When I think Optoma it makes my stomach sick, which is not the feeling that I should have with your brand. I would like to know that you have admitted this unit has inherent defects and take care of me. This is my 5th Optoma Projector and I have been happy with all the other models I have had. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I sincerely hope you can take care of me. ... show more

  • Laser projection is fantastic
Style: UHZ45 (Previous Model, 3800 Lm)
WAY better than the optical projector it replaced. Bright and crisp even in daylight without any adjustments

  • Blurry focus and data issues mar bright projector
Style: UHZ50 (Previous Model, 3000 Lm, Smart Home)
The Good - this projector is very bright, allowing viewing in brightly lit rooms. The Bad - 4k HDR at 60 fps consistently fails. The Ugly - the focus is uneven, making you choose what is in focus. This opinion is based on testing three units. I purchased one of these units based on the solid reviews. The first unit had massive data corruption on all HDMI ports, leading to flashing, banding, and HDCP issues. The problems were worse on the lower numbered ports. After speaking with the manufacturer, I got a replacement from Amazon. I didn't spend much more time on this one because it was so bad. I replaced all the HDMI cables with Ultra High Speed HDMI Certified cables, tested with shorter runs, and upgraded to a powered certified cable for the longer run. The second unit was much louder, with a distinctly annoying fan. While the data issues were better (no flashing / banding on any port) it consistently failed HDCP checks on HDMI ports 1 and 2. Port 3 worked most of the time, but especially with Disney+ the HDCP check would fail. Rebooting the projector would generally work around this. I hooked up my computer to the projector, and was shocked by how bad the focusing was for text. In a movie you might not notice, but for desktop use it was painful. I was careful to align the projector properly (see the squared up photo). All four corners are in focus, but the center top (ceiling mounted orientation) is out of focus. You can see the difference in the two photos of the browser address bar with my finger shadow to show that it's in focus. I expect all ports to work perfectly with the advertised data rates with no optical issues. I returned this unit as well. The third unit was the best of the three. However, it still had the focusing issues, and still will fail to play Disney+ every few days, requiring a system reset. Summary - While the data rates for 4K HDR at 60fps are incredibly hard to get right, I expect it to consistently work when advertised. It does not. - Pixel perfect optical focusing should be table stakes for any projector. This one fails in that regard. - All three were incredibly bright. 3000 lumens is just fantastic. This projector works fine if you're only going to watch movies at 1080p, but in that case, get a cheaper model. ... show more
