This is a little large and not necessarily lightweight for a solo hiker. However it IS perfect for two or three! We've bought this set twice. I carry it all year round, even in my car for just in case.

    • Cook kit great, stove a knock-off version
The cook kit is great. The stove is NOT a correctly built Optimus stove. The threads that attach to canister should be brass but are black plastic and do not work with MSR and other canisters. Took to local outfitter who noticed the difference. Don't buy this product from this vendor until they get a proper Optimus stove. Amazon sent a replacement very quickly - and it had exactly the same problem. ... show more

This cook system is heavier than some, but with the wind guard and heat exchanger I only have to carry one 100 gram fuel container on a multi day hike rather than two saving almost half a pound. The included igniter works without fail. I am able to store a 100g fuel canister, the burner, starter, foldable stand and a 9 oz collapsible cup inside the pot. It does have the problem that all isobutane systems have in that it is not great in cold weather. For late season and winter camping I use my liquid fuel MSR. ... show more

Crooked pot , pan and stove may ruin threads on your fuel canister . Made in China ( flood the market with garbage type item ) , leaks gas may cross thread your canister and or leak all your gas out fire hazard .
