πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The swing set has garnered positive feedback for its quality relative to price, though some caution is advised regarding its long-term durability and size suitability. The cedar wood construction is appreciated for its potential longevity, but the material's softness can lead to splits during assembly. It is well-loved by younger children, with the perfect size for toddlers and usable up to around 6-7 years of age, despite being advertised for up to 10 years old. Regular maintenance, like water sealing, is recommended for preserving its condition.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Good value for the price, especially when purchased on sale
  • πŸ›  Cedar wood construction promising durability
  • πŸ“ Perfect size for toddlers and young children
  • πŸ”§ Comes with clear instructions, manageable assembly with the right tools
  • ❀️ Highly appreciated by kids, encouraging outdoor play

Cons

  • ❗ Wood can splinter or split during assembly; soft wood quality
  • ⏳ Regular maintenance (water sealing) required for durability
  • πŸ“ May not adequately accommodate children as they grow closer to the maximum age limit
  • πŸ‘« Some parts, like the monkey bars, offer limited functionality

Should I Buy It?

If you are looking for a reasonably priced swing set for toddlers to young children, this could be a great investment. However, consider the need for annual maintenance and the swing set's size limitations as your children grow. The pros seem to outweigh the cons for those with younger kids looking to enjoy outdoor playtime.

  • Overall a great little swing set, watch for variations in price
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
I normally don’t do product reviews but know how important they were to me when deciding to spend this much money on a swing set. So, here it goes: We purchased this swing set for about $550 plus tax. We think it is very good quality for that price but would not pay more for it. I saw that it is now about $1,000 and I personally think we would have been disappointed in the quality of the item for that price. My husband and grandpa, both very handy and bearing their own sets of power tools, put this together in about 9 hours. We downloaded the Bilt app, but found the written instructions to be more than sufficient. You need power tools and a few other tools to put this together, so keep that in mind when purchasing. When it is finished, it looks exactly like it is advertised. It is the absolute perfect size for our two year old son, and we foresee him getting about 4 more years of play out of it. It is advertised for up to age 10, but I personally think 6 or 7 years old is about the cut off for the size. The wood is cedar, which my husband says is a wood that should last over time pretty well. It is a little soft when putting the set together, and they split numerous pieces during assembly. Luckily, it didn’t affect the overall sturdiness of the set because most of the split pieces were more decorative than structural. When putting the set together, there was a time when my husband and I both had to be up in the fort area putting it together and putting the tarp on. The boards held our combined weight but you could hear that they were not happy about it, as they kept creaking and it made me worry a little that we were going to bust it before it was even finished. My son always wants me to climb up in the fort with him to play and I do, but the boards still creak quite a bit, when with just he and I. Another thing to keep in mind is that they recommend water sealing the set once a year. Not a big deal, just an added step in the upkeep of a wood swing set. Overall, my son absolutely ADORES this swing set. When I open the blinds in the morning and he sees the set, he immediately starts begging to go outside. We are extremely happy with our purchase for the price we paid for it. It is the perfect size for our 2 year old and will be used a lot over the next few years. Again, I would watch the price and try to get it for as cheaply as possible. It seems the price ranges greatly and we were able to purchase it for about $550. ... show more

  • Great set! Great set!
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
This took me about 10 hours to put together by myself, and it was not difficult at all. I had downloaded the BILT app and ended up not using it at all. I invested about 45 minutes arranging all the parts in order of part number as I emptied the boxes, and that was well worth it. The ladder pieces feel a bit flimsy when I climbed them to install the awning and toys, but hey, I'm a grown adult and this thing isn't meant to hold me! Being up on the playhouse deck seemed very sturdy. I ran into one missing screw, but I just held off on installing that piece and ended up having a spare that was 1/4" longer, so I used it. I was also a little disappointed that the holes for the grounding stakes weren't pre-drilled, but I can see how some people would want to put them in different spots than recommended in the instructions. Overall, I'm very happy with the set. It's a perfect size for my boys to get at least 5 more years use out of. I love that the swings/trapeze are quick link attachments so they'll be easy to remove and store for winter. ... show more

  • Not for the impatient
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
The positives: This kit has a cool, handsome design, and my granddaughter was so excited when it was done. If I were a small child again, I would love it. However, I had several issues with it that required patience to deal with. I bought this kit nearly a year before I began to build it because I had a lot of prep work to do before the backyard area where I wanted to place this kit in was ready. So, I stored the boxes in my shed for nearly a year. Let me make clear thought that dealing with customer support was surprisingly pleasant. Kudos to them for that. Every person I spoke with was very nice, polite and professional. But the fact I had to call quite often is the problem. This kit comes with many, many different parts and I didn't open the boxes and do a real inventory until I was ready to build it. When I did, I found there were quite a few missing parts; wooden planks and hardware. There were even a couple extra wooden parts included. The wooden parts are stamped with part numbers, but many were smudged and hard to read, so there were many parts I thought I had, until I needed them, and they ended up being missing. All in all, I needed to contact support four times I believe, and then wait for parts to arrive which usually took minimum of four days. One of the times, the wooden part I needed was there, but the holes were drilled wrongly (pilot holes for screws vs. 3/8 inch holes where the screw went completely through the hole). Again, the customer service personnel worked with me and sent the wooden parts with the correct holes drilled this time, but the delays in completing the project were frustrating. A couple other things... I built this for my 5 year old granddaughter and found that it's smaller than the picture indicates. I think she'll outgrow it fairly soon; at least parts of it. Another thing is one part of the design... The area the top of the slide and rock wall has a horizontal wood plank. It didn't take long before she bumped her head on it and complained it was too low. I must agree. Although it's part of the structural strength aspect of the kit, it doesn't need to be so low in my opinion. There were actually a couple of extra pieces of lumber, so I used it to construct a longer vertical piece (in the middle) and moved that low horizontal plank up considerably so she wouldn't continue to bump her head when using the slide or rock wall. (I have construction experience so I know it's safe now, but if you're lacking such skills, I wouldn't take the chance. Just leave it as is and warn your kids so they don't bump their heads). Oh, one more thing. The instructions are fairly good and thorough, except for this. On many pages, it will have several "call-outs" which magnify the area(s) being explained, which is nice. However, many parts just assume you know which hardware to use but don't actually direct you which part to use, so I had to guess on many areas. And it depends primarily on diagrams and sketches, with very little actual instructions in English. So be very methodical in how you put it together, making sure parts are oriented the right way the first time. (I had to re-install several areas because of this). Bottom line, I'd recommend it and think the company is legit, but they need to work on their packing department to make sure all the parts are included, and the holes are drilled correctly, etc. ... show more

  • Great backyard addition!
Color: Green Size: Large
Great product so far. Just got it built. It went together much easier than I thought it would. Built it myself, with the help of my wife a few times when needed. Took me probably 6 hours total which didn't seem too bad. I just used the paper instructions. Pay attention to little details though, cause I had a few boards flipped wrong due to some hole you won't use for a couple steps. I would also recommend staying organized during the build as their is a lot of hardware. Good quality wood and hardware. My kid loves it so far as well! Slide is his favorite and it is pretty fast. ... show more

  • Very poor design, over priced! Very poor design, over priced!
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
***update*** my daughter who loves slides won't go down this stupid slide because of the poor design which make kids sit then slide over bolt heads!!! This product comes in 2 boxes. Bought this for six hundred, it seems the price fluctuates alot . Personally feel this product shouldn't be more then 4 hundred..... wood seems very cheap to me. The slide is the dumbest thing I've ever seen . It comes in 3 pieces which must be assembled with wooden supports. The way the monkey bars attach is ridiculous, kids cannot enter the main structure from them . To me this seems more dangerous for younger or weaker childern as they likely will fall off. Also it's attached to one of the thinner boards with short bolts so seems less safe/sturdy then it possible could be . The awning over the picnic table is about a foot short , provids no shade ! Useless! Eveything about the main structure/play house area seems small to me. Feel like its suitable for kids 3-6 size wise and that it would be difficult for most kids over 8 to comfortably sit on the sand box "benches " . My daughter is almost 4 and i just do not see this being something she'll comfortably play with when she 8-10 . Climing wall/ladder is ok. Swings are good quality . Looks attractive. Steering wheel and spyglass are fun. Took us(2 adults ) about 15 hours spread over 3 days to fully assemble . Paper instructions were suitable ,app instructions were nice but not needed. There is room for improvement in the instructions . Lots of little thing which could be done in advace. I am actually pretty disappointed in this purchase. I only bought a prepackaged playset because of covid-19 my kids need something fun to do outside and not being able to have my family help me build one from plans . ... show more

  • This set saved our sanity
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
We have an only-child and amidst this covid-quarantine time after having moved to a brand new state, this set gave our 6yr old much interactivity. I scoured reviews regarding my concern with her size versus the set..but all has served perfectly. Even though she is 6 (going on 7), she's tall and always mistaken for a grade or two older...and I believe she will still get many more years. There have only been 2 max 6yr olds up top, so I can't speak to how extra durable it may be..just that it's been great for the kids. My 190lb husband was able to sit up there after hopping himself up.. adults just cannot use the stairs..you'll quickly hear the creaking if you try. haha One step did come split, but luckily it was the bottom one, so we didn't fret. However, the manufacturer gave instructions on how to contact them to get replacement pieces, so there's that option. DEFINITELY USE THE BILT APP! (Ty reviewers!) It was fantastic.. clear and concise. You just have to be careful to look at ALL THE HOLES so make sure you're installing it the correct position. I think we were experiencing fatigue towards the end and we didn't pay full attention..screwed a couple pieces in incorrectly. Luckily we were able to turn it all around easily, though. And lay out all the pieces in their piles to expedite the process..you'll need every minute you can spare! With 2 adults, I'd say it did take us around 10hrs to complete. Some people complained about the awning not being wide enough.. that is my opinion, as well..but not a deal breaker at $558.48 +tax. The awning is sufficient enough to cover the table, however. I think we got lucky on the price, bc this set has swings and slide and table and monkey bars and a covered tower (and you can have a sand box).. We're thankful we found it bc there's so much to do! ... show more

  • Decent playset for small kids Decent playset for small kids
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
This playset is alright for the money but still not suitable for kids up to 10 years old. Our 3 year old daughter loves it. Our 7 year old son likes it but he is probably at the maximum height for using this. His cousin that is 7 and their friends all have a hard time navigating around it and will likely outgrow it quick. We just set it up and the few complaints I have are the monkey bars leading to nowhere and the slide seems very cheap. You do not need 3 people or even 2 to put this together. It will be easier with two. But I put it together almost entirely alone. Even the slide. The slide is a joke on how it attaches at the end of building this and uses 3 large screws that will stick out and potentially ruin clothing or hurt little kids trying to use it. I decided not to do that and headed to lowes to buy a small strip of something and make my own transition for it. I used item 1074073 polyesterene stop which eas under $6 for an 8 foot strip and cut it to 1 foot 3 and 9/16 inches. Then drilled 3 holes for the screws and drilled the tops slightly bigger to sink the screw heads in. Now there is a smooth transition and the slide isn't going anywhere. The screws were leftover from the build and you just need to use some short ones so they do not stick out the other side. Overall, I would not buy this product again. When we move, we will sell this and get the Costco playset instead. A few pieces of wood had some nasty splits in them and a lot of the wood split when screwing it in although most of it was the fault of myself or my power tools and not taking the time to pre drill holes. Let's be honest though, they should've predilled more holes for us anyways. My tip for anyone doing this would be to look ahead and see what boards want you to hammer in the t nuts to them instead of going back and forth like the digital instructions make you do. Good luck! ... show more

  • 70 year old woman put this together, so can you! 70 year old woman put this together, so can you!
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
I am a 70 year old woman and I put this playground together. I had to get my grandson to help me with the second side of the slide; I could not have done it without him! It took me 4 hours to sort the hardware and the boards, but made assembly much easier. It took 21 hours to assemble the playground, but I took a week because I could only work on it 30 minutes to 6 hours each day. Other than the slide, I completely assembled it by myself. I suggest using the written instructions and the BILT app. Together it simplified the process for me. If I can do it, you can too. It’s worth the joy my great grandchildren have on it! ... show more
