  • Works great.
Use common sense and don't fully extend the tool and bend the side bar. Use air hammer to knock it the rest of the way out.

  • Don't attempt this job without it. Pays for itself on single use.
I just work on my personal vehicles/equipment and had never done ball joints on a Subaru before. Perhaps I should have looked it up beforehand, but I had never really considered that the ball joint would be pressed into a blind hole. Typical presses won't work, and after about two hours of whacking and prying I only got 10% of the ball joint out. After looking to YouTube in frustration, I saw this type of puller an bought this model from OMT. Game changer. This tool quickly and smoothly pulled the joint out using a breaker bar then ratchet, and the tool still looks as good as new. Even if I never use it again it was well worth it. I had previously purchased an OMT branded gear/bearing puller set and was similarly impressed. My experience with their products suggests they are excellent for occasional use in the home or farm shop. They are affordable, but still decent enough to actually do what they are supposed to without breaking on the first use. Just don't try using an impact on pullers with fine threads or they'll strip out in a heartbeat. If you want to get by with cheap tools like this, you have to go smooth and slow. ... show more

  • It “works”
It’s perfect for the job it’s intended for… but the “wings” that provide the torque bent fairly easily. It did get the ball joint out enough for me to pop it out with a bar and hammer. Change the design of the wing piece and your set. If you diy or work on Subarus you definitely want this tool. Even if you only have to use it once, it’s worth it ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY! CHEAP MATERIAL WILL STRIP OUT AND MESS UP BALL JOINT THREADS. NIGHTMARE!
CHEAP MATERIAL WILL STRIP OUT AND MESS UP BALL JOINT THREADS. NIGHTMARE! Buy the ASTRO 78620 SUBARU BALL JOINT PULLER. It isn't easy to find and it's not on Amazon. Try ebay or the ASTRO store.. Good Luck!

  • Works wonderfully
Easy to install, pulls the ball joint out quickly. Do not use an impact, use a socket or wrench.

  • Paid for itself
It works as intended. It would be cool if it came with a cup to install balljoints but still happy.

  • It works great, but only once
I was able to use this tool to take off the ball joint on a 2007 outback. It worked magically to yank that ball joint out. However, after the joint finally popped out I noticed the pin in the middle of the tool had completely bent inwards. It still "worked" but I wasn't sure it would work again. The other ball joint was equally stuck, and the threaded part of the tool was harder to get onto the threaded part of the ball joint because it was father away because the pin was bent. I got it most of the way into the threads and started cranking. Unfortunately the threads completely stripped and I was unable to remove the ball joint using the tool. I wanted to give it 5 stars because it really does work, but also 1 star because you can only use it once. I split the difference at 3 stars. ... show more
