Purchased this for my son and his cousins to use on a beach trip. We did hide a few pennies and other items but he also found other things as well. The only issue is the volume. When using in the back yard or park, it’s fine. But the tones are totally drowned out by the sounds of the beach, so you have to pay attention to the screen. Bought one each for 2, 5 and 9 year old grand kids. It caught ALL of their attention. Even the 2 YO was excited about them. We initially got hung up in the problem of having all 3 too close together, but soon remembered that we have to have a few feet distance from one another. Besides the coins I planted in the yard, the kids found some other interesting things, and they're excited that they can take them to other places to search also. We didn't soak them but it had just finished raining so we were using them in wet grass. We brought them in and wiped them off when finished and they are just fine. The item was opened and based on what I found in the box, at one time before delivery used near some type of pine tree. The product is good, just issues with the lack of respect on it being opened and then resealed. ???
