  • Convenient Chicken coop door
Color: Grey
I bought this automatic chicken coop door for my chicken coop to make sure the door was open and closed if I wasn’t home to do it. We installed it a couple months early, before our chickens are able to go outside, to make sure it even works, to check on battery life, to see if it will work in the cold weather etc. The Chicken coop door arrived pretty fast (3 days!) installation was pretty easy (Our door opening is 13x13 inches wide so we put some rubber door insulation on the places it didn’t fit just right 👍) This door comes with awesome instructions and a video link to make sure you get it right. Set up is easy. It has different settings for times to open and close so you can customize it to just what you want. It will not crush your chickens or hands in the door, there is a sensor to make sure of that. We checked on the battery life the other day and it’s still at 100percent and that’s after being installed for about a month and really cold and wet and snowy weather. It did freeze open about 4 inches yesterday because of a ton of snow and temperatures around 12 degrees, but we cleaned the ice off the runners and manually closed and opened it and it works just fine now. I’m really impressed with this door and can’t wait to get my chickens outside! Edited 8-14-2023, I really like this automatic door. I program it to open at 6:30 AM and close at 9:15 PM and it does it’s job. It took my chickens a couple months to learn that they had to get inside their house when it started to get dark outside and now I know they’re going to be locked safely inside their coop if I’m not around to check on them.(My chickens are in an enclosed run, including their house, to keep them safe from predators), I’ve had this door operating since March and it says on the program panel that I still have 100% battery life. That’s really good I think! Very happy with this automatic door. Adding to my review on 1-18-2024: I am still loving this automatic door! I checked it last night to change the closing time since we are gaining a few minutes of daylight. We’ve had this door for almost a year now and I haven’t had to change out the batteries yet, last night it said they were at 80% battery life. I’ll probably change them out at 50% just to be on the safe side. We added a rubber flap over the top of the door to keep water from getting to the door and freezing it open or shut. This door has worked through extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures, has not crushed any of my chickens, thanks to the anti crush sensor. I highly recommend this door to anyone with chickens. ... show more

  • Reliable Automatic Coop Door That Fits the Eglu Perfectly
Color: Grey
The Omlet Chicken Coop Automatic Door has been a game-changer for us. While it isn’t the cheapest option, it was the only auto door I could find that fit our used Eglu Coop, and it installed seamlessly. The instructions are thorough (a full manual comes with it), and there’s also a helpful video. Installation was straightforward, and based on the design, I think it would adapt well to many types of coops beyond the Eglu. Programming is simple. I chose the timed setting instead of the light sensor, since shady areas can confuse the sensor, and adjusting the times a couple of times per year with the seasons has been easy. The door has been consistent, reliable, and is still showing 100% battery life after regular use. The biggest benefit is convenience—especially when we’re away. We originally purchased it before a vacation so our neighbor didn’t need to open and close the coop twice daily. It’s also better for the hens, since they get let out earlier in the morning without waiting for us. There was a short adjustment period for the chickens. At first, one hen was hesitant and got locked out two nights in a row, but using the manual open button solved that, and now the flock has fully adjusted. I specifically chose this model over the Smart Auto Door after hearing reports of the smart version malfunctioning. So far, this model has been consistent, sturdy, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend if you want peace of mind and reliable automation for your flock. ... show more

  • Peace of Mind
Color: Smart Grey
I purchased 4 auto doors before the Omlet. I still had to check their operation, every night because of one thing or another. The Omlet is well built, with replaceable parts if ever needed. All modes of operation performed flawlessly. Installation was a breeze with screws provided. It's expensive...but what is security worth for the money? Love the app! ... show more

  • Stopped working after 2 weeks
Color: Smart Grey
I LOVED this door for the first two weeks of use. I live in the NE where the sun sets early in the afternoon. The door's light mode was working perfectly and was closing on time, until it didn't. Now the door doesn't work AT ALL. The control panel is on, has good battery, has good connection with the door, but won't communicate to the door. I'm having to manually push the door open and closed myself until I'm able to have some daylight to troubleshoot it. The manual for the system is NOT helpful for trouble shooting this - I have checked everything listed in the manual: wire connections, cleaning the track, battery power, etc. Even when on manual mode the door will not open/close even though the panel says it should be. I spent WAY too much money on this for it to only have worked for 2 weeks. Additionally, I dismantled my perfect manual door to install this and now STILL have to be there to manually push it open and closed. Disappointed is an understatement. Don't waste your money on this overpriced crap. ... show more

  • Works well on Wi-fi and is better for my ladies.
Color: Smart Grey
This product is awesome. For the past 15 years I've been going out twice a day to let the ladies into their run and lock them into the coop at night. In the mornings when I want to sleep in after dawn (mostly summer) they are a few hours late getting into their run and have often laid eggs in the coop that occasionally get broken. Now, the door automatically opens at 5am and they come out shortly afterwards while I'm still zzzzz. I still have to go out at bedtime to collect eggs but they are already locked in the coop for the night. In addition, as they have water and food for 30+ days in their run, I can now go away for a few days knowing they will be safely let in/out during the day as needed. I purchased the 'smart' version with wi-fi so I can easily control the door without using the control panel. The coop is about 125 feet from the house and the app shows 66% wifi signal. I've had zero issues with the wifi. The manual says to purchase the AC adapter if you are on wifi as it will drain the batteries more quickly. I've had it for about 10 days and after lots of testing and playing with the door the batteries are at 94%. I'm willing to see how long they last before deciding if I want the AC adapter. We lose power a few times a year where I live and I don't want the door to be stuck open/closed because the power is out. The website says it won't switch to batteries if the AC plug is installed. Photo attached. I did have to add a board as the previous opening was a guillotine-style dog doof that was much larger. Don't judge the dirty outside of my coop....LOL I was a bit skeptical if my fat chickens would fit in the smaller door but they have no issues. In fact, I've seen 2 push out at the same time. ... show more

  • Must have electricity for this door to work as intended
Color: Smart Grey
I wanted to give it a decent amount of time using this door before I wrote a review. I want to add that I purchased 3 other automatic/timer/bluetooth type doors before I spent the big bucks on this one. My main goal was to be able to control the door easily remotely when I wanted to let my chickens out in the morning. I really didn’t want a timer. I wanted to control the door from my house which is about 175 ft from my coop. First off instruction booklet is a decent size book!! Pretty intimidating but much of it is other languages or products. Had to figure that out but not gonna lie. Scared me at first!! It really wasn’t hard to set up but instructions were weird. When I installed the door on my coop I was not running any electricity to my coop. It has a battery function so I figured it would be fine. I did read MANY reviews prior to the purchase of my Omlet door complaining about battery issues because I had purchased 3 other brand doors after they did not fit my needs. I had concerns about the battery function based on the reviews. The other reviews were correct. The WiFi connectivity drains all batteries. Trust me I tried every brand of battery and even talked to Omlet on what type they recommended. I had to change the batteries every 5-6 days. It is a pain in the butt to get the back open so changing them that much was awful. WHEN batteries are fully charged to 60% range, the door will obey commands, but ONLY after it wakes up from being “asleep”. No immediate command control. 15-20 min lag time. Under a 60% battery charge it will go offline. Constantly. The only way to get it back online is to change the batteries. My WiFi is in my house and I use extenders to bounce it out to my barn and coop for cameras etc. I started to think this might be the problem. At that point I was ready to give up on the door but I thought let’s run some electricity to it and see if that makes a difference. It DID NOT come with a cord. I had to purchase one. Omlet sells them but I bought one from Amazon. Not my plan as I had to add electric power in my coop but I rigged up an extension cord for power. BINGO!!!!!. The door now works as it should. It keeps a strong WiFi connection, immediate command control and I now love it. I can lie in bed and when my rooster demands its time to be let out I can open the door from the house from my Omlet phone app. The app also tells you the status (open/close) of the door which is nice. I can close the chickens in the coop at night when they go inside also from the app. It now functions for me as intended. I will also add that I use hemp in my coop as bedding and it is the ONLY door that I purchased (3) that has the safety anti pinch function that does not get clogged up with bedding in the door frame. The way it is made it’s very easy to push any bedding in the frame out of the way. I do wish that I had an additional key pad for inside the coop. It comes with one but at times I want to open it from either side and may not have my phone on me. Over all Omlet makes top notch products! I also own their feeder and waterer. They have amazing customer support and put much thought into design . I may purchase an additional door for my outside run BUT it HAS to have an electrical outlet to be plugged into and I HAVE to know that it’s predator proof which I do sometimes question based off the design. My run is Fort Knox so they would have to get through that currently to even encounter my Omlet door to break into my coop. I’m giving it 4 stars because it took me months to get it to work as intended but I really wanted a WiFi controlled chicken coop door so I kept trouble shooting. Maybe Omlet will make improvements to the next generation of this chicken coop door to accommodate battery power better. If you have electric power it will be great. ... show more

  • Durable, convenient, easy to use automatic door!
Color: Grey
Love this door so much I bought a second one for another area. Easy to program & the light sensor based settings are so convenient! Have had my first one for almost 2 years & it’s still going strong through snow, ice, etc. I haven’t even had to change the batteries- They’re still at 80%! I do wipe off the dirt & debris every few months to keep the track clean but otherwise no maintenance needed at all. I love the convenience & freedom this gives me with my flock! ... show more

  • Awesome door!
Color: Green
I’ve had this for about a year now and let me tell you, I’ve owned a lot of different chicken doors over the years. This one is by far the best and most reliable one I’ve ever owned! It’s actually so good I bought a second one for my rabbit colony! The battery has lasted so far as long as we have owned it. We did buy the plug in cords just in case since I thought the batteries wouldn’t work well in our Alaska winters, but so far not a single issue. There are a couple cons, but in my opinion they are not worth not having this door over. The first con is it’s a pain in the butt to change out the batteries. I do understand why since they make them completely encased so they are impervious to the weather, but it’s still a pain. So far I haven’t had to change the original batteries, but I remember adding them when we first set it up… The second con is that our male turkey won’t fit through the door…. Yes it doesn’t really count since it’s a chicken door, not a turkey door- but I still included it just in case you’re thinking about it for your turkeys. So every morning we let the big guy out the man door and put him away at night. Our female turkeys fit just fine (we have royal palms which are small). I am looking forward to the day these guys make a turkey door! ... show more
