This arrived with a small dent in the top of it even though it was packaged inside of foam. The dent does not affect the performance at all. And i'm still glad that I got this. I use a dehydrator quite often and have the round kind with the plastic trays. The first and best thing I noticed about this one, is it is super quiet. You can barely even hear it running at all. The second best thing is the metal trays. Trying to get away from using plastics of any kind. It is the perfect size to fit on the counter and holds quite a bit given its size. The instruction booklet is clear and easy to understand. The digital temperature and timer settings are a big plus. It performed exceptionally well to make jerky. Im really pleased over all.

Olixis Food Dehydrator 500w: Easy to use and the snacks are delicious! This is our first foray into making our own dehydrated food, so I don't have prior experiences to compare this unit to. But, I'm very impressed with how easily it functions and with the results. We've not tried jerky or other meats, but the fruits have turned out perfect. Impressions: The stainless steel look compliments our other stainless kitchen appliances well. The unit has ample space to make a good quantity of food in one setting, but it doesn't take up a ton of counter space. We've left it out since we've had it and it hasn't been a bother yet. The controls are quick and easy to use. It's also convenient to pause the dehydrator to make adjustments, etc, and then get it rolling again. It hasn't radiated any concerning heat or noticeable odors (again, we haven't done jerky/meat) with fruit. Cleanup for the fruit has been very easy. We've just needed a quick wipe down inside and have hand washed the racks. There's a lot of space in there. We've made a lot and have never used all of the racks at once. We are hydrating for just for my wife and I. We have a 3yo, but he doesn't put a big dent in the final product. He does like the fruit it produces though! There are tons of easy recipes, tips, and recommendations online. If comes with a helpful book as well. The final product is amazing! I'm used to the "freeze dried" type fruit that's typical to trail mix and so forth. I've had other higher quality dried fruit from specialty markets, but I've never experienced anything close to this. I've got a wicked sweet tooth and very much enjoy sour gummies and similar treats. I absolutely enjoy some of the treats this thing produces even more than gummies. Our favorite so far has been kiwi. I think it tastes amazing, and it's also the easiest thing we've made. Just peel, slice, and that's it. No soaking, lemon juice, or any other additional steps needed. So far this think has been a hit. I can't express how much better the dehydrated treats taste when made at home. Give it a try!

The media could not be loaded. Wow! This dehydrator was a huge upgrade to the old, cheap dehydrator I burned out trying to preserve a bumper crop of Fuyu persimmons. This dehydrator fits on my kitchen counter under my cabinets, but it is light enough for me to carry to be stored when not in use. The controls are easy to use and fairly straight forward. The fan is large and easily seen at the back during operations. Temperatures range from 85F to 185F, and time adjusts in 30 minutes increments... so this gives me plenty of latitude to customize what I am drying. It has a button for a bright light that automatically shuts off after a minute. And it beeps and shuts itself off when the time has completed. And this thing is quiet! You barely hear it running. (My old one was noisy.) I was able to dehydrate the slices from 25 persimmons at the same time on the 8 trays. The stainless steel trays are spacious and high quality. I was pleasantly surprised that none of the dried slices stuck to the trays like they have on my old plastic trays... which is a huge plus for me. I dehydrated juicy persimmon slices at 140F, which is what their booklet recommends for fruit. It took 8 hours to get the slices to a dry, but pliable state, which is what I prefer for use in cooking and trail mixes. It would probably take another hour to get the slices to a crisp, dry state for snacking. The sides of the dehydrator do get warm to the touch at 140F, but not bad. The back gets considerably warmer, but not too hot that I can't touch it at this temperature. I originally wanted to place this on my pantry counter to use, but because of the heat, decided it would work better to operate it where I have open space or tile facing the back side of the dehydrator. I did pull the dehydrator several inches away from the wall while it was operating. The warmth coming from the dehydrator also kept my winter kitchen warm. I was surprised that I was able to store the dehydrated slices from all 25 persimmons in a single quart bag. I am looking forward to exploring all the ways I can use this dehydrator with this year's coming garden crop.
