Because its plates are made of pure virgin lead (unlike the lead alloy in most batteries), ODYSSEY packs more plates in. More plates mean more plate surface area, and much more power. Twice the overall power and three times the life of conventional batteries, up to 400 cycles at 80 percentage depth of discharge. These batteries are built for a range of performance from everyday vehicles, classic and antique cars, high performance cars, 4x4 and Off-Road, to modified vehicles. Its construction consists of pure virgin lead plates for maximum surface area and optimized recycling, AGM (absorbed glass mat) design that eliminates acid spills, high conductivity, corrosion- resistant tin-plated brass terminals, high integrity terminal seal, a sealed design resulting in gases recycled internally, a self-regulating relief valve, tough flame retardant cell containers and robust internal cell connections to prevent vibration damage. ODYSSEY batteries beat spiral-wound. Compared to spiral-wound batteries of equal size, ODYSSEY batteries pack 15 percentage more plate surface area into the case. Avoiding the dead space between cylinders in six-pack designs means ODYSSEY batteries deliver more power and 40 percentage more reserve capacity.

For long term reliability, just pay the price and appreciate the benefit. I have used these for several years and really appreciate the reliability. I have one in a boat that sits idle in storage about five months each year. Used a sophisticated as well as an old school battery tester on one nine years old after sitting idle for five months without a charge and it meets the original rating and is classified as Good by both testers. Never had a failure from any. I find the recent price increase hard to take but decided to stay with the best which sometimes costs more. The Odyssey 35-PC1400T is great battery. It exceeded my expectation. I have an extra car that I do not drive very often, and the battery was dying every couple of weeks in the winter. I was using a battery from Napa-Auto Parts. While I looking for an AGM battery online, I came across this battery. I tried it. It performed very well so far. I have not had to charge it. This battery surely outperformed my old Napa battery. I would buy it again and recommend it to family and friend. ... show more

    • This will fix more than one issue you’re experiencing with your car
It may be a little too early to rate this battery since I installed it today. I just replaced my 640 CCA Advanced Auto Autocraft battery with this Oddysey battery. But before I did that, I replaced my stock 110 amp alternator with a 220 amp rebuilt alternator for my mid-level 600 watt audio system. I honestly didn’t know how bad my car was underpowered until I drove it. My aftermarket LED bulbs have fans and I’ve never heard them spin this loud(good thing) which means even my bulbs probably weren’t as bright as they should’ve been. Also my rough idle went away, and I’ve even noticed that my power steering is a little smoother. And my mpg actually went up, after noticing it went down after installing the high output alternator, which caused me to wonder if it was the battery or the rebuilt high output alternator which was causing the rough idle, since I did have the mass airflow sensor and throttle bottle cleaned. You learn new things everyday. I wished the place I got my audio system installed at, would have at least informed me about eventually changing my alternator and battery, but they probably thought they’d sway my decision to install the audio system and be out of a customer. So far so good. Hope I won’t have to replace this battery anytime soon. ... show more

This is a very nice battery. I'm so glad that I was able to order it from Amazon when my old battery died. I installed it and my car started up perfectly. There's just one thing. Even though it was a new battery, you can't let your car sit for an extended amount of time. Even with a new battery like this, your car may not start if you let your car sit for an extended period. And being retired, that's what happened to me. So, if you're like me, and let your car sit for days, then get a battery charger/maintainer. They are magnificent, and will keep this beautiful battery always charged to the max. Even if you let your car sit for extended periods. And I would buy this battery again. ... show more

    • WASTE OF MONEY FOR INFINITI
DO NOT BUY FOR AN INFINITI IT WILL NOT RECHARGE THE BATTERY AND IT WILL DIE .... so Bought this for my 2004 infiniti fx35 in december 2018, it's now october 2019 and the battery is completely dead. Turns out it needs a seperate charger to be connected every few weeks in order to fully recharge the battery completely due to its "deepcycle" smh it's not worth the $300 price tag plus an additional $200 for a charger. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BATTERY FOR AN INFINITI IT WILL NOT RECHARGE IT CORRECTLY ... show more

    • Update: Died after a year. Not waranteed through Amazon.
Update: April 2018 This car was kept in storage and started once every few months. Low and behold this April the car would not start, and the battery does not hold a charge. The biggest headache is that Amazon is not an authorized Odyssey reseller, so making a warranty claim is almost impossible. I spoke directly with Odyssey battery, and they said I need to find an authorized dealer to verify the battery condition, with the caveat that many brick-and-mortar resellers refuse to verify batteries not purchased directly from them. TLDR: Avoid purchasing this product through Amazon as the 3-4 year warranty basically means nothing. Initial purchase: March 2018 Small and compact. Fit into my MR2 and starts without issues, although it's a little too short for the tie-down so you may need a spacer to keep it in place. ... show more

Big upgrade from the factory battery that comes with the vehicle. It fires up instantly on a sub freezing day after not driving the car for over 2 weeks. This one replaces the same model I purchased in 2017. It lasted 7 years before it needed replacing and performed well up until the last few months before replacing it.
