But when they 'burn out' they just stop working - they don't overheat and cook my fish, which I hear from a lot of people about their heaters. As a product it's awesome. I bought my first one in 2017 and it worked great for my 90 gallon system until my ATO failed, I didn't catch it, and the heater ran dry. I'd give it a 5 star but the replacement I ordered came in smashed in the box.

For the price this is a decent heater. I have this on a 120 gallon tank. This tank is in a room that is kept at 68 degrees. To maintain a water temp of 78 degrees the heater is set to 90 degrees. It does its job then turns off like expected. The thermometer on the unit itself is more like a guideline. If you have been in the hobby long enough you set it up and monitor any heater until you get to your desired temp using in tank thermometers. Overall this is a good generic heater no bells or whistles. However I would not attempt to use this on anything larger than a 120 gallon. Seems it would be best suited for 90 gallon or less. ... show more
