I have two of these heaters for two separate tanks. My 5G heater works just fine, keeps it at a steady temp of 78-80, switches on & off perfectly fine on its own. My 6G on the other hand, it was faulty. At first it worked fine but then it switched to red & green on all the time. I was out of town for a few days and I came home to a temp of almost 100 degrees!! Insane. Thankfully I got a replacement heater and that one is doing way better so far. Even though I had a faulty one, I still give this 5 stars because not all of the heaters are faulty. If this changes though, I will update. But as of right now I really have no complaints! I would recommend!!

I ordered this for our 20 gallon aquarium and we couldn't be happier. The heater works exactly as described, it even comes with a free digital thermometer. It is easy to adjust the temperature to your desired temperature. The digital thermometer can help you dial the temp in right. We have no complaints, I'm glad I didn't spend more money, when this one does the trick at a great price point. The build quality seems very good, no complaints there.

I’m so glad I got this! I have a 29 gallon tank and the heater in it was not keeping up. It was getting cooler outside here and the heat in the house wasn’t on yet so it was a little cooler in the house. The fish tank which needs to be around 80 got down to 74. The heater was on constantly and was not warming the tank up at all. I bought this and it’s been great. The temperature setting on the heater is a little off, I have it set to 78 and the tank is consistently at 80-82. So make sure you keep an eye on the temperature initially to find the right setting. The fish which had gotten really lethargic when it was cold in there are doing much better. I highly recommend this!

Keeps the water temperature the temperature advertised. The only complaint I have is the suction cup continuously comes off the heater. It auctions to the tank fine but if he suction cup doesn’t fit very securely onto the heating element

You'll definitely need a thermo sensor. But this works....heats water VERY fast. So... Maybe get the teany version....and a thermo sensor...tied to a on off switch to off it if it gets too hot... Seen a bad story on here... I'm just housing a beta fish but if it's heating a bunch of expensive fish.... You should lay to watch the temp and to kill switch this if heat too high

I had to replace a thermometer we got from PetSmart that cost over $20 that never showed if it was on or off. I started searched Amazon and saw the great ratings on this one. You can tell when the heater is on (light is red) or when the temperature is about 78 degrees (green light). We are using a thermometer to verify the temperature. It is also totally submersible so that you don't have to worry about the water level getting too low. And the best part is the price - that is very reasonable. I bought a backup because if it has a problem, it was inexpensive enough to have a backup ready.
