My son just took auto shop in high school and really wanted to put his skills to work on his own car. However, everything is electronic these days for diagnostics so I wanted to find a basic tool that he could use. I fully understood that his product was not as advanced as more expensive ones on the market that see everything or what is used at the dealership. However, my son really liked having a scanner that could give him some basic codes he could check out for himself to see if there was an issue that he could resolve without having to go to a mechanic. It has a long cord that was a blessing to reach the plug and my son was very happy that it worked on his Toyota to help him rule out issues before he had to take the car in for a more detailed scan. Good to have around so you can check out the basics or better trust the quotes you received from a professional.

So was looking for a code scanner to keep in the toolbox for emergencies and this turned up on Vine and I have it a shot. I tried it on both my wife’s 2022 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus and my 2023 Chevrolet Camaro LT with the V6 engine. It worked surprisingly well on both and was more full featured than I expected. On the Mazda it was reading things for the turbo system and the electronics including the heads display which I didn’t expect from a budget reader. Though I couldn’t run the 02 sensor test or the evaporative emissions test on either vehicle as the tool said the cars where incompatible, the sensors showed up with the live values clearly displayed so the tool is still useful for diagnosing those emissions parts. I had no fault codes showing on either vehicle so could not check the tools ability to clear codes. Tool has a pretty comprehensive DTC library that covers most brands from what I could see as well as a solutions library. It can also generate a QR code that can be snapped with your phone so that you can print out results which was and unexpected bonus. The tool seems well made of thick plastic and the screen is nice and bright. I was testing on the Camaro in full sunlight with convertible top down and had no problem reading the screen. It has both a light mode and a dark mode and is full color. There is a settings screen. I would assume settings are saved somehow so you don’t need to change them every use. It comes with a basic instruction manual and a draw string bag to store it. When I got it, the device was on sale for half price. It’s a decent value right in the mid range of what these devices usually run without a sale. At the sale price it’s a true bargain considering how complete it is.

I got this because my car throws a code every three months or so. So it through the code and it read it just fine. I took it to my mechanics to see if it said the same thing and it did. So I would say this is a good product. I had to google what to do about the codes. The little brochure that comes with it just kind of tells you how to turn it on and clear codes not a whole lot more than that.

First things first this is an OBD2 reader not a full function scanner like you see in a repair shop. This review is based on this fact. The product is a really good user friendly Obd2. I use it primarily to read codes on two of my vehicles which have issues with catalytic efficiency as it relates to the emissions testing we have in my state. The design is very user friendly from menus to the displays. It reads codes that are associated with a vehicles check engine light and gets you on the right path to diagnose them. The I/M readiness feature is what I use the most and it tells you what monitors are ok, incomplete or, not in spec. This is invaluable for the yearly trip to the mechanic for inspection. You can not test individual sensors, turn on relays, or reset/turn on maintenance features such as winding back electric parking brakes on certain vehicles but it offers a diagnostic starting point. Freeze frame is nice for when a code sets off CEL (check engine light). It shows you sensor readings, rpm, fuel trims etc.. you can also live stream data to see what’s going on in real time. I haven’t tried the printing feature. I would recommend this product 100%. It’s perfect for a DIYer or home mechanic.

Reads my vans codes and shows it needs an oxygen sensor when it had a loose harness after that problem was fixed the error code still wouldn't rest this was what this unit was supposed to do after the error was fixed. This tool is easy to use it can even save your most recent tests. Easy to read pictures and the print on the backlite display is also easy to read. Needs to be plugged into the vehicle for this tool to function.

I'm a backyard mechanic and I've had to get the parts store to read codes for me at times. I started using an OBD2 dongle with Torque years ago. But nothing beats a real OBD2 scanner. So I was happy to try this one out. It works as it should. Quickly communicates with my cars. Clear color screen, it's easy to use, and it has multiple functions. O2 sensor and battery check comes to mind. Plus it comes with a nice bag for storage. All at a price that's about the same as my dongle and torque app. No more driving to the auto parts store to check that engine light!

A convenient must have for everyone, especially women. Once you plug it in it works on it's own. It gives codes and solutions to fix whatever problem was diagnosed. I have found problems that I easily corrected rather than spend hundreds for someone else to do it. If I'm unable to fix it at least I know what's wrong with it before I go to the mechanic, making me more knowledgeable of what to expect or demand. Never get talked down to or taken advantage of again. It runs a test and gives you codes but you can also manually key in diagnostic codes and it again gives you the problem and solution. You can get QR codes to bring to the mechanic. Also great for do it yourselfers! The 3 ft long cord is very convenient as you go from under the hood to the driver's seat, it's actually a foot longer than my prior one.
