It's a short lamp, way shorter than I thought it would be, but when it arrived I was so happy with it, that I decided to purchase one for my living room (originally purchased one for my master bedroom). My house is shrouded in trees so I don't get a lot of natural light, but the electric bill is high so I rely on lamps. Since I loved the first two, I purchased yet another one for my office. It's a breeze to assemble and beautiful to look at. If you can get over the height, then you can't go wrong. For my dining room, I decided to order a taller and more expensive one and I wish I would have just ordered this one. I actually am in the market for yet another lamp for a spare bedroom and while I'll do research, there's an excellent chance I'll end up just ordering another one of these. It's a nice lamp and I'm going to keep it but the shade keeps falling and poorly made. Will probably buy a separate shade. Also a bit shorter than I'd like but nice for the space it fills
