This is the second time I have owned an NVX 12. However, the first time they were the VCW124 not the VCW122. The only reason I don't have the first setup is because it was stolen. Right now this thing has been taking 1200wrms at 1 ohm (I only have single 12). It's in a 3 cubic foot 36hz tuned SPL box. I've been told you can hear me from about 500ft away. I originally had it in the recommended 1.85, sound quality was good, most frequencies sounded fair, but compared to the Massive Audio 12 at half the power this NVX replaced it seemed quieter (For reference the MA 12 was in the same box my NVX is in now). It does have some weight to it showing the motor will handle what you throw at it. NVX has always performed wonderfully. My previous setup was in a dual 12 2.25cu ft tuned for 32hz and back then I had them on a Hifonics Brutus BRX1116.D 1100wrms @ 1ohm. That setup would rattle everything including stuff not attached to my car. I once had some guy who worked at a gas station ask what I had because the awning of the gas station was rattling to high heck. Please note I also had two Audiopipe TXX-BD2-12's on the same Brutus amp and same box, prior to have the VCW124's. The NVX's outperformed the AP's by a long shot back then. My current setup moves plenty air for being a single 12 and is incredibly loud too. The toss up on the Massive Audio 12 was either this (NVX 122) or an Audiopipe Quintastack TXX-BDC-V. I went this route as the xmax is greater and my last NVX's outperformed AP then, so I figured they would again now. I'm very happy with NVX and Sonic Electronic (NVX is their house brand). Also, this setup is not Ocsilloscope tuned and I am sure there is some clipping power going to my 12. It takes the abuse all day without any issues even after hours of steady play and doesn't even get warm.....

I bought one of these subs and was so impressed with the build quality and sound quality that I bought another one!!! The one thing you need to pay attention to with the subwoofer is that it is a little wide for some prefabricated speaker boxes. Pay attention to the mounting diameter on the box you buy or build for this subwoofer as it is a little wide. Otherwise the performance is great for the money and they look nice too. Great job NVX!!!

I bought this 12" 2ohm woofer to run at 1 ohm with a Rockford Fosgate 1200.1D amplifier. I had it mounted in the ported BBox that you can by here on Amazon. This is a beautiful woofer. The frame is extremely rigid and well built. It has some cool features with definite attention to detail, like the stitching and the "2ohm" symbol on the positive terminals. I have been running this for about a week at full volume after a 2 week break-in period. I am overall satisfied but the only thing I have to note is that when there is the combination of a sustained bass note and a kick drum hit within that sustained note, it lacks the punch that my Sundown Audio 4 ohm SA-12 woofer has, running at almost half the power. This might have something to do with my other fault to this speaker: the surface area of the face of the woofer is too small. Where Sundown built their surrounds higher the accompany speaker travel, NVX made their surrounds wider to accompany speaker travel, which cut down on the surface area of the sound-making section of the speaker. It almost looks like a 10" woofer put in a 12" frame. As I said, I own both the Sundown SA-12 and this NVX and I would have to recommend spending the extra 10 dollars on the SA-12. This could be my box situation so I have ordered a sealed box to test the NVX with and will add that to this review, later. In the end, you will be very satisfied with this woofer. I can't attest to performance at a lower wattage but I can tell you that this baby can handle lots of power and there is nothing to be truly dissatisfied with. It really is a good speaker.
