Still getting used to this type of cooking versus deep fat frying. The few things we have tried have all turned out quite tasty using the right type of spice. My wife and I are on the cardiac diet due to her recent stroke, so we are limited somewhat in foods. Hence the experimentation with foods and spices. The company had a note in the box saying that the plastic smell is normal and will go away after a few uses. But so far it still smells every time I use it. It makes my food smell too. My previous air fryer brand name Gourmia that i use, doesn't smell at all when i first bought it. My old fryer died on me after a year so I thought i tried something new, but man i think im going to give this air fryer away and go back to Gourmia brand. UPDATED FROM 1 TO 4 STARS: so I tried this method that my friend told me about and the plastic smell went away. So first you want to wash/clean the air fryer with soap then dry it. Start the air fryer at 400F for 1 hour empty. I suggest to do it outside if you can because your house will smell. If the smell doesn't go away then repeat the process. I did it for 2 cycle which is a total of 2 hours back to back and the smell is gone/fading away. This company should definitely put this instruction in their packages lol. Also, I tried the vinegar/lemon method and it didn't work for me. ... show more
