From Non-GMO Safflower Oil CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a class of fatty acids produced by animals that is naturally found in beef and dairy products. Although CLA plays an important role in a number of cellular metabolic processes, humans are not able to produce CLA and therefore can only obtain it from the diet. Since CLA is generally more abundant in grazing animals, changes in agricultural practices have resulted in less CLA in our foods, decreasing its availability in modern diets. Therefore, using a CLA supplement is recommended to obtain desirable levels of CLA for its optimal effects. NOW® CLA is derived from Non-GMO safflower oil and delivers 800 mg CLA per softgel. Natural color variation may occur in this product.

After reading reviews, pros and cons, and doing my own research I tried NOW CLA. I found, in my research a common thread that those who didn't exercise or were generally not very active had the most negative reviews. Since this product is meant to increase the body's ability to metabolize and burn fat (it actually shrinks the fat cells keeping fat from expanding them) it seemed logical that the more active person is the better result they would see. I was already working out daily; 30-45 min. of circuit training: cardio with 5 lb. weights. I noticed a definite impact within the first 3-5 days of using the CLA at the suggested dosage of three times per day with meals. I then added, to my regular workout routine, a higher intensity cardio circuit training and was shocked at the rate the inches were coming off and even more, the definition in how my body was shaping; I was overweight for the past 2 years gained 4 sizes over the course of that time and now, in 2 1/2 months of regular cardio type exercise and using the CLA I am back in my size 32 waist and my clothes fit better than before, I'm proportioned better now). Was I having results prior to using CLA? Yes. Was the CLA benefit enhanced by the increase in cardio? Yes. Bottom line: my experience with CLA is that it does work very well with proper diet and exercise; it's not a quick fix but it does work as an enhancement and tool for fat redistribution and muscle toning bringing better definition. I don't count calories; I simply eat a proper balance of carbs, protein and fat (reduced fat foods as often as possible); I also make a protein shake after working out. Cutting out processed flours, excess fat and never ever using fake sweeteners is key for balancing hormones. I would definitely recommend CLA, and for the money you can find a better value and price, but not a better purity or name brand. NOW is in it to win it. CLA is for me undeniably best supplement I ever could use and another well graded NOW brand. Over time best healthy fat destroyer with well maintained diet and or exercise. Week to week you can notice suttle changes in metalbolic rates and shape of the fat, if you can get rid of all of it it shouldn't ever come back the same way it will be spread out . It gets a 4 and I need another bottle got 30 pills left ,keep one even when I'm rip and start slipping again- hour cardio you'll be in the house. It's good. I like brand loyalty when ever possible. Priced at $20.37 for 180 softgels, that's $1.132 for every 10,000mg of CLA. NOW Foods "CLA 800mg" contains 1000mg of safflower oil per softgel of which 800mg is CLA. That's 80% CLA. Priced at $18.87 for 180 softgels, that's $1.310 for every 10,000mg of CLA. Botanic Choice "CLA Weight Loss Support" contains 1000mg of safflower oil per softgel of which 800mg is CLA. That's 80% CLA. Priced at $13.75 for 120 softgels, that's $1.432 for every 10,000mg of CLA. Jarrow Formulas "CLA 750mg of CLA" contains 1000mg of safflower oil per softgel of which 750mg is CLA. I have been taking these for a little over a month now and have seen absolutely none of the results they promote (I do diet and exercise as well). Along wtih that, when I take the recommended dose I get TERRIBLE pains under my rib cage. So I have had to cut the dose in half. But something that can cause that much pain to a person makes me wonder what it is doing to my body. I will not be ordering another bottle after this. I want to say that I do love the NOW brand, I just do not like the CLA supplement (which is why I am giving this 3 stars instead of 1). ... show more
