Ikarao Break X1 is a gamechanger
Color: Black Set name: Break X1 with Wireless Microphones
I purchased the Ikarao Break X1 through Amazon in August 2026 and am completely satisfied. The shipping time and packaging was top notch. After charging with the 120v regular wall plug (no worrying about USB-C adapters on this version), the first thing I did was connect via bluetooth to my iPhone and play some music, and the sound quality was excellent, with plenty of volume available if needed, even outdoors. Battery life has been as advertised (about four hours). I tried the preloaded apps, but since I sing in Smule all the time, I was interested in using those tracks for my karaoke. The app unfortunately was not pre-loaded as (perhaps) advertised - likely this box had been sitting in inventory for a while while the newest ones are now preloaded with Smule. I contacted Ikarao service via email and they got back to me very promptly (several hours). I gave them info on my firmware version and serial number and they said they would push out the needed update. However, the next day it still did not appear on the screen. After a day or so of fiddling, I tried (per AI) disconnecting my home wifi and tethering to my iPhone instead. The download proceeded instantly (must have been a firewall issue with my home router). After sharing this tip with Ikarao support, they sent me a free gift. It was not an insignificant gift, but a sturdy Ikarao tripod stand to support the speaker box at any height in the 2-4 foot range. This was very well made and now I consider it indispensable to a convenient setup. So - product support is timely and excellent. My only previous experience with karaoke machines was my friend's setup which was good equipment, but not integrated, having two separate speakers on wires, a standard laptop, wired microphones, etc. The setup takes ten minutes or so, and the first song I sang into his system there was serious feedback that took a couple of minutes to fix. The Ikarao Break X1 is so convenient, especially with the tripod, such that I can be setup and singing in five minutes or so without wires all over the place. Be sure to have a wifi extender if you are out on your patio at home. Speed above 100 MBPS is desirable to prevent some pauses after you try to connect to an app. After the first time trying it with the two wireless mics, I bought two (wired) Sennheiser e935 microphones and stands, along with the Disino 6 ft adapter and Proco-MSW-10 cable so i could plug into the back of the Break X1 and have an on/off switch on the wired mics. Just my preference, but I prefer singing the lead lyrics with these mics because you can sing off-center and even whistle in them (have the other duet partner on the other Sennheiser) and then have two chorus singers on the two Ikarao wireless mics. So, four singers at once "on stage" keeps things moving at a party because it's otherwise tough to wait in line for your next song. One thing: if you are a serious singer, it's not going to sound as good live as it does on Smule with two iPhones and wired earbuds. You can play back a song you've already recorded in Smule via bluetooth and it sounds GREAT on the Ikarao speaker. But if you stand in front of the speaker (10 feet away with your Sennheiser mic) it just doesn't have the same balance and tonality. Of course, at a party you probably don't have serious singers anyway, lol, and it's going to be fun. I am still experimenting with the voice templates (reverb, etc.) and where to sing relative to the speaker. Although the touchscreen swivels 180 degrees, I am not convinced singing behind the speaker is the best idea. I don't get as much feedback from my voice and it feels like I have to strain to make myself louder (but the audience in front says it's fine). Overall, I highly recommend the Ikarao Break X1 to karaoke lovers. ... show more

A great sounding and well-designed portable speaker / karaoke system
Color: Black Set name: Break X1 with Wireless Microphones
First (and most importantly) the sound is fantastic. The bass sounds good both with the bass boost on and off. Had a chance to test it outdoors while doing a little work on my car yesterday (a bit too cold here to be at a beach or park right now) and it sounded great and was easily loud enough to overcome the sounds of the engine and a tire inflator even tho I had it 10-12 feet away from the back of the car (so another 14-15 feet to the front of the car). The speaker itself feels very solidly constructed and looks quite nice. I like the cutout handles on each end as well as the shoulder strap. The strap itself is not padded, but the attachment is quite nice, and the unit isn't really heavy enough that a padded strap is needed. There is also a standard 35mm (1-3/8") speaker stand mounting hole (like you'd find in most PA speakers) in case you wanted to elevate it on a stand. When the tablet is closed, the design is very clean with only the controls that matter for listening to music shown (buttons for power, bass boost, input, and bluetooth, with rollers to adjust volume and lighting). The built-in 13.3" tablet is a pretty basic and runs a version of Android 13, but is quite functional as the tilt/swivel mount allows it to be positioned easily, and it is nice that it can flip and fold down over the top of the unit for transport or when just using it as a bluetooth speaker. There are a few apps and shortcuts pre-installed on the tablet, including a media player for local files, Spotify, YouTube, a couple of karaoke apps, and a few other things. (No Netflix pre-installed on my unit, but you can easily download/install from an appstore if you wanted to.) The microphones are conveniently rechargeable and fit nicely into their storage/charging ports under the folded down tablet (instead of sticking out or attaching to the side as on most other portable karaoke machines). The microphones are mostly plastic and fairly light, but they sound good and don't have too much handling noise. The microphone charging ports and controls for the microphone modes are the only things found beneath the tablet. It is nice that there are knobs for manually selecting the amount of reverb and to adjust bass and treble, as well as a button to turn on "ducking" (which is useful when using the unit as a PA system for music and announcements) If you need more than 2 microphones, there are two 1/4 inch microphone (or guitar) inputs under a rubber cover in the back. They worked fine with either a 1/4" wireless microphone receiver (mine supports 2 wireless microphones, so that would allow 4 singers) or a standard microphone with an xlr-1/4" cable. Other ports beneath this cover include one HDMI, one USB-A, a microSD card slot, an 1/8" stereo input, and an 1/8" headphone output. The media player can play audio and video files from both the USB and the microSD (as well as from internal storage). The smaller rubber cover just contains the ac power connection -- which is conveniently just a standard "figure-8" power cord. I am also very pleased with the runtime on the built-in battery. After using it as a bluetooth speaker outside for a couple hours (while working on my car), I figured I'd see how good the battery life was, so kept playing music (via bluetooth) while making and eating lunch, then tested/played with the various features and settings and installing software for a couple more hours, then did a bit of karaoke and mic testing, streamed music directly off the tablet while making and eating dinner, connected the unit to a 4K tv and then decided to test playback of music and videos from microSD and USB storage, and ended up watching a movie that was on the USB flash drive (totally legit copy of the movie, since the digital copy was a dono reward from my friend's kickstarter for the movie). All in all it was probably about 10hrs of actual runtime (within 11.5-12hrs of actual time) running completely on battery before the 20% remaining low battery warning popped up Overall, I think the Ikarao has done a great job of choosing the features and design of the Break X1, and this unit would be an excellent choice for anyone needing a portable party speaker as well as someone looking for an all-in-one karaoke system (or even a small battery-powered PA system). Even if I were being super picky, the only thing I could really nitpick is that the knobs for the manual mic adjustment (reverb, treble, bass) are "backwards" (turn to the left to increase, right to decrease). Also, I wish they could've used combo XLR+1/4" jacks for the microphone/guitar inputs -- mainly cuz I have plenty of XLR microphone cables, but only a couple of XLR-1/4" cables, so it took awhile to locate them when I was testing -- not sure there's room in the current location for combo jacks tho (maybe just 1 combo jack could fit?). Reality is this is probably a fairly niche feature for most people tho since most will just use the included wireless mics and most of the few that would add a mic could use a mic with a 1/4 plug. tl;dr: if you're thinking about it, just go ahead and get it -- two thumbs up! ... show more

A Portable Karaoke Machine Done Right
Color: Black Set name: Break X2 with Wireless Microphones
[Update] Now that the issues with my original purchase have been resolved, I’ll provide a more complete review for this unit. I looked at a lot of options as karaoke is a big thing among family and friends. Karaoke started in Japan (Kara means empty and Oke is short for orchestra. So that’s accompaniments) and became serious business in China. Originally the hardware was designed for KTV studios and the song library was based on local storage. But now we are in a transition where song libraries are stored in the cloud to have more strict enforcement of IP rights and frequent updates. As a result some companies struggled and some newer ones are doing better. I owned the old style karaoke machines (DVD player style with mics and DVD or HDD song library). They stopped working and then I built my own karaoke home kits with a laptop or Android TV box. This is the interface to a song library and media player. Add a couple of mics (wired is better but if you want wireless go with UHF mics for less latency) and a mixer and you get a basic kit. Basic mixers will not have effects (reverb/echo etc.) but the better ones do. Then hook up the video output to the HDTV and mixed sound output from the mixer to home audio system. Now you have a karaoke kit that beats 90% of the off the shelf boxes. But the home kit has its disadvantages. You got wires/cables going on the floor, you need to adjust mixer settings a lot, and it’s not portable. And feeding the vocal back to Android TV for recording/scoring is really complicated. Then comes the Ikarao. Ikarao does not necessarily have better hardware. Where it succeeded is integration. Think of the iPhone vs cameras, GPS, dumb phones, computers etc. it’s not better than each individual product for what it does but it can do basic jobs of others together. That’s integration. And Ikarao did a good job at that. Pros of the Ikarao: The tablet: The Cortex A55 processor on the X2 is much better than most TV/streaming boxes’. It runs Android 13 and thus provides a platform for different karaoke apps. You just need to find your favorite and side load via the USB port. There is no play store but with 32GB storage you don’t want to load too much stuff on the machine. I loaded a couple of karaoke programs and they work really well. And the 10 inch touch screen is helpful (but you have to be at the screen because there is no remote). IO ports: 2x 1/4” mic/guitar ports for external mics. This is the most important feature for my use case. I plan to use better mics and they are often wired. The sound: The speakers are quite decent with 70w RMS output. I spent quite a bit on car stereo when replacing all speakers and adding amps on my cars, and have a good frame of reference for sound quality. The Ikarao speakers can’t beat your home sound system or luxury car premium sound. But they are pretty good for the money. Wireless mics are decent with little latency in the new production models. And you can add DSP effects for the vocals (but a bit too strong in my opinion). Non-audiophile users will like them. They are portable. You can bring to parties and outdoor events and have some fun. At the same time, they are expandable. You can add wired mics, connect to HDTV and/or home sound system for a better experience if you care. Cons: The IO ports are crowded in the back panel and would have been better to have RCA audio output instead of the 3.5mm AUX OUT. For the larger X1/X2, there is a lot of room to arrange the ports properly. But not a deal breaker. Documentation could be better. There’s an online user manual but I double people read it. And proper documentation can set the expectations for the product (Apple can sell iPhones but wireless service is not included. Here you buy a karaoke machine but not karaoke content service.). The charger requirement is not documented in the fast start guide. It requires a laptop capacity USB-C charger (<65W). If people don’t read the manual and just use a phone charger to charge, there will be a lot of dead machines after the initial weeks or months after the first charge runs out. Bottom line: A good product with decent hardware and proper integration for the masses. For audiophile sound quality you can connect to your home audio system. ... show more

Almost Perfect
Color: Black Set name: Break X2 with Wireless Microphones
I’ve used my X2 for a good week now. It is an excellent all-in-one machine if you want something portable and elegant with minimal wiring. I have mine sitting on a 35mm speaker stand. Initially I bought this to feed HDMI output to my Hue 8K Sync Box which can sync my Hue lights to incoming audio as well as output that audio to my surround sound for a truly unique and immersive experience. Unfortunately I found out that the HDMI output from the X2 only transfers video data, and that is by design as unfiltered audio may damage speakers. I ended up using iLightShow app on my phone that can pick up audio from my phone’s mic and sync my Hue lights to that audio; it’s not great with some lag, but it’s passable, and the X2 speaker is plenty loud for the space I have. Here are some more positives: - Excellent build quality. It’s hefty in a good way and appears to be built from quality materials. It even looks to be weather resistant with rubber covers covering all jacks and rubber buttons, but I wouldn’t risk it in the rain. The strap looks to be good quality as well although I haven’t used it. - Setup is quick and intuitive like what you’d expect from a smart tablet. It didn’t even come with a manual, but there is a digital manual on the tablet if you want to check a button’s functionality. - The swivel tablet is easy to use running a basic and intuitive OS. - Mics hide out of sight when not in use. This unit is just really sleek. I read people notice there is a slight latency with these Bluetooth mics, but it’s not noticeable to me. - Along with YouTube and KaraFun that comes with it, it also comes with a Chinese app called 全民K歌 with a ton of Chinese karaoke songs. The app registration costs about $44 for 2 years and you can also pay monthly/quarterly/annually, but it is a bit of a pain to make the payment. You’ll need to pay via WeChat with payment setup. A couple of negatives that keeps it from perfection IMO: - Tablet is a bit laggy when compared to a regular tablet especially when you’re typing on that onscreen keyboard. Luckily you can use the mics to speak what you want to search for into the search box. - The front LEDs on the speaker is not really noticeable even in a dark setting. To me it’s just a gimmick. - I wish the tablet and the front LEDs would go to “sleep” mode when I “close” the tablet instead of having to turn it off every time. - Not all 10” screen protectors work with this tablet. Just make sure the one you get is 9.5” x 6” or less if you do get one. - There is a small button on the mic that doesn’t appear to do anything when I short press it or long press it. - I believe there are two versions of this machine. The one I got has a USB-C charging port and came with a USB cable, but no wall charger, so you’ll have to get one yourself. ... show more

Issue with mic. Tempted to give lower star. But after the issue is resolved, pro outweigh the con.
Color: Black Set name: Break X1 with Wireless Microphones
TLDR; great product. If any issue, contact Ikarao support (on messenger) preferably during week-day. Since they built this stuff, they know their stuff. Amazon support is like semi-meh (unless you came across the support person who have the same item and had the exact issue like yours). Bought this karaoke machine for my parent who is not so great at operating a complex system. After looking through several machine, I settled on this one. The least expensive one looks too cheap and the most expensive one looks too complex. Ikarao Break X1 is a bit pricier than other machines but operation looked simple enough. When I noticed that this is shipped and sold by Amazon (not shipped by Amazon and sold by Ikarao), I was like - say no more! Since Amazon itself is stocking and selling this, it must be good. Unfortunately, I ran into mics issue when I first powered on the machine. The two mics that came with the machine were able to connect fine (as per the mic setting displayed on the screen). The mics' power button worked (I was able to cycle through Break X1 mic menu via wireless mic's power button), the mics' volume button worked. Both mics volume were at max. However, no voice came through the speaker, no matter how much I screamed into the mics. Thinking it was an issue with the wireless mics, I tested with the wired mics that I have on hand - no luck. The system was able to recognize wired mic but no voice came through the speaker. The speaker was able to play music fine - just no live voice through the mics. I was panicking at this point. This machine weighs 32lb. Returning and exchanging it was going to be a big hassle. I reached out to Ikarao to get help, but unfortunately, this was all happening on Saturday. It was totally reasonable that they were not responding on the weekend. I needed to get this to work fast, so I tried my luck with Amazon support. After going through several Amazon supports, my patience was running thin. They were giving me options of return, exchange, partial refunds for mics replacement, etc. These weren't the solutions that I was looking for. FORTUNATELY, the last Amazon support I spoke to actually had a similar machine, and she had the same issue as mine. She told me about the steps that could potentially solve my issue - connecting the Break X1 Bluetooth with my phone, turning on the wireless mics, and then BAM!! everything started working, including the wired mics. It was such an unpleasant ordeal. Break X1 is a solid machine when everything is in working order. So far, so good for now. The sound coming from the speaker is great. Bass boost is awesome. Being able to play audio/video files from USB drive is a plus. Operation is simple and user friendly. My family loves it! Ikarao's support team eventually responded to my plea on the following Sunday evening, offering assistance via Messenger & WhatsApp. While I couldn't replicate the issue when they reached out, their commitment to standing behind their products was evident. They followed up a few days later, to make sure that my machine was working well. I would give full 5 stars if the machine worked right out the box. ... show more

You need this karaoke system!
Color: Black Set name: Break X1 with Wireless Microphones
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I love karaoke. Believe me when I say I try every style of karaoke system I can get my hands on. I had specific criteria searching for this system. It needed to be a self-contained, battery powered system with wireless microphones, built in monitor, and great sound. It needed on-board and customizable microphone effects. It needed to have input connectivity including external drives, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and wired microphones or external audio sources like a laptop or tablet. It needed to have a great catalog of available karaoke tracks. It needed to be able to send audio to an external audio system and send video to an external TV or Monitor(if the built-in screen weren't big enough). This system ticks every one of those boxes. The built-in tablet runs a variety of apps including Karafun, and YouTube. By registering and logging into these apps, a huge selection of karaoke tracks become available. Within Karafun, you have quite a bit of control including changing the key +/-, setting the volume of the backing and lead singers, and setting the size of the lyrics panel. Search or browse tens of thousands of available songs, create custom tracks yourself, play music trivia games, etc. You can even get a prioritized, custom list of songs that match your vocal range. Overall, this system knocks it out of the park. Things that could be improved: there is a slight delay between singing and having your voice come out of the speakers. It's slight, but to me it was noticeable. Another point is keeping a charge. I charged the system fully, used it while plugged in, shut it down. A day later, I decided I should unplug it to avoid overcharging. A couple of weeks later, I found that the batteries in the system and microphones were drained. That was unexpected. Last item for consideration is that there doesn't seem to be a way to sing karaoke with tracks that you own on a hard drive. It's possible to play the music, but not play the entire CD+G, Zip, or MP4 karaoke track. Perhaps there is a workaround, but I haven't found it. But, this is a powerful sounding, all-in-one, battery powered karaoke system that ticks all the boxes. It's easy, intuitive and very fun. Of all the systems I've tried, this is the best yet! ... show more

A truly all in one karaoke machine with excellent sound and mic performance
Color: Black Set name: Break X2 with Wireless Microphones
UPDATE: After testing out a few more karaoke machines, and giving this one a longer try, I'm updating my review of this to add back more stars. This is definitely the luxury brand of karaoke machine. The speaker sounds great, it provides a lot of connectivity options, and the microphones sound excellent. I also really like that the microphones charge while set inside their slots in the box. The built in tablet is what sets this apart from most other machines. You can run the Karafun app directly on this machine without needing to use another device like an iPad. That makes it truly an all in one solution. There is an HDMI output so you can connect a TV and the lyrics from the Karafun app will show up on the screen. However, this is the feature that prevents this from being a 5 star review. For whatever reason, when an external screen is connected, the performance of the tablet absolutely tanks. The animations on the lyrics get super choppy, and the touch screen lags a lot. This was the cause of most of my frustrations from my first review after using it only for a few minutes. I realized later that I had been testing it entirely with an external screen connected. As soon as I unplugged the external screen, the performance improves again and it's great. So sadly it's not the best way to get the lyrics onto a large TV screen. The workaround for the HDMI output is to run Karafun on an iPad or computer, and connect via bluetooth to this machine. Then you can run the HDMI out from your iPad/computer to a TV and everything is happy. It is nice that the machine has a bluetooth mode so you can always fall back to not using the built in software on the tablet if you want. I just wish they had used a slightly more powerful CPU for this, and one that could also handle HDMI out well! ------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW So this thing is definitely fun, and sounds great and is nice and loud, but I was not super impressed with the touch screen. First, the good parts. The microphones sound good, and they charge and store in the box, which is super convenient. Getting this running took no time at all, just turn it on and choose which app you want to use (I used KaraFun) and go! The HDMI output is also great in case you want to put the lyrics up on a larger TV. But, it turns out there are some major downsides to bundling the screen with this. The screen is basically a built in Android tablet. They've done a good job of covering up all the Android-ness so you barely notice it. That's how it runs the Karafun app which was one of the reasons I got this in the first place. I tried a few songs in Karafun, worked fine, then started a download of the top 500 songs. After the download was finished, the app was running super slowly. Some of the buttons on the box were unresponsive. Finally I got the Android notice "Karafun isn't responding / Close app / wait" popup, but even that was unresponsive. I also had one time where the little side menu just disappeared completely and I had to restart the device to get it to come back. I tried running KaraFun on my iPad and connected via Bluetooth to the amp and it worked a ton better. ... show more
