Having used several other rototillers in my more than 50 years in vegetable growing at a farm, I find this Novus walk-behind tractor is the best available in terms of cost, ease of assembly, quality of design and performance. It has the same features of tillers costing about four times as much with regard to its direct drive gear transmission and the power of its motor, but at a price affordable to a home gardener, homesteader, market gardener or small farmer. Its dual operating levers offer ease of use while they combine to enhance maneuverability and work. The tiller's value is demonstrated in the quality and ease of the work it performs. Under-powered tillers with belt drives claim to be self-propelled but need to be pushed up slopes or forced down into the ground to till it. This tiller moves easily and steadily through the soil with minimal guidance. I found this Novus machine is also stone tolerant in the rocky ground where I farm in CT. Stones are in general unearthed or cast aside by the machine that rarely bucks or stalls when it encounters ledge or a large rock. I found the machine has remained solid and suffered no damage in rock encounters. My vegetable field was left in fine condition after I tilled it to remove weeds between potato, onion and cabbage rows and cleared open ground for planting tomatoes, peppers, beans and squash. Buy this machine with confidence. Its 18-inch width as defined by the wheels and tines is ideal for maintaining vegetable plants set 36-inches apart. It may also be used early in the growing season to till between rows of plants set out 24-inches apart. The machine comes broken down in a sturdy box but with wrenches to put it together, easy to follow instructions and engine and transmission oil to enable assembly in about 20 minutes. . You then just add gasoline, pull the recoil starter once and get to work. This trouble free and easy to operate machine is a joy to use. The thoughtfulness inherent in all aspects of this machine including its design and assembly is outstanding.

It arrived on a pallet 8 days early. I was able to remove the cardboard from around the unit and assemble right on the pallet. It's built sturdy, looks sharp, and works as it should. I used it to expand the garden further into the yard, and it chewed the sod up no problem.

Received this tiller a few days ago and put it together yesterday. Assembling it is pretty straight forward. I did need help to lift it to put the wheels on but was able to do the rest myself. This is not a cheaply made or small machine, it has the power to do the job. This machine starts for me on one or two pulls-and I was able to figure out the controls very easily. I just used this to till my chicken run and a huge area where the kids swingset is (just to test it out). It worked really well and was not too hard for me to manuver. It will handle the garden easily and I'm looking forward to using it again. I feel like I got a great deal on this tiller. The manufacter included everything needed, including a great funnel and all the fluids. I was not clear on which to put where and had to call. The customer service rep was very helpful and got right back to me. For those who don't know (If you look, there are two fillers on one of the sides. One of them has an orange cap and the other has a black cap. The bottle marked as engine oil (smaller) goes into the filler with the orange cap. Both of the two bottles marked as transmission fluid go into the filler with the black cap. Great machine, made well and excellent customer service!

This is a nice machine. Assembly wasn’t horrible and it starts every pull. Hopefully it holds up with proper maintenance.

The media could not be loaded. This is one fine machine. Unboxing was a breeze. There wasn’t too much assembly required. Most tasks could be tackled with the tool kit which came with the tiller. The instructions were pretty straightforward and fairly easy to follow. It took me about 2 hours to complete. It comes with bottles of all the lubricants needed. I added gas and it started right up. This beast went through my previously tilled plot like butter. And with the handle setup, I hardly left any footprints and left the ground like a fine powder. I then created a new plot of previously untilled ground. It did a great job cutting through the soil, but no better or worse than my previous Husqvarna tiller. I really like this Novus NV18DRTG tiller. Some of the improvements from my last tiller, adjustable handle, can walk beside on the left or right, gear driven vs. belt, 10” max tilling depth, beefy airless tires & manufactured in Wisconsin, USA. This was money well spent on a beast of a machine. I think you’ll be well satisfied as am I.

This tiller is well built and easy to use. Instructions were easy to follow. It comes with the tools needed to put it together. Started right up and continues to start on the first pull. I really like that the tines come off for easy cleaning of roots or bailing twin that gets wrapped around the tine axel.

Assembled the unit and prepared to use it after adding engine and transmission oil and gas. Had a difficult time getting the drive gear to shift out of neutral, but finally managed it. Rolled it to my garden area, started it up and used it for about 15 minutes and then put the drive gear lever back in Neutral. Couldn't get it out of neutral again after trying to rock the wheels for a bit while trying to move the gear lever. So, I have a single garden row tilled and a gear locked transmission, which is a terrible ROI.
