Nice simple thermostat with the RH RC connections, even includes a jumper cable. I needed a replacement that was easy to use and had a big lit up display. This checks off my boxes, it took me longer to find two AA batteries in my unit than it did to swap out old thermostat. I recommend this unit

Works perfectly.. good for cooling only, gas furnace, electrical heat strips, heat pump applications. Accurate and easy to install. Nice light blue back light. Turn off the breaker that goes to the air conditioner ( package unit or airhandler in closet or attic) before you start installing the thermostat. This is to keep you from shorting the low voltage side which will blow a fuse or burn out your transformer. Make sure you write down the color of the wire before removing from terminal. For example ( Y ) terminal may not have a yellow wire but a brown wire because some people don't color code as recommended. So pay close attention. Also pay attention to the switch on the back that says electric or gas. If you don't have gas set the switch to electric. If you have a heat pump unit, make sure you put a jumper wire between Y and W. So the wire that goes in the y terminal, add an extra wire from the Y terminal and connect the W terminal together. In my garage I have a Modine HotDawg propane heater. The thermostat died and installed wanted $200 to replace with the same modine thermostat. I figured give this a try. I have only the red and white wires. No “c” or common. I hooked up the red and white wires. With no common. It will be running off battery, which is what the old one did and that’s fine. Hooked up the wires. Mounted it on the wall. The screen is nice and bright and text is large enough to be easily read. It’s a simple thermostat. No programming which is not needed for a garage. Only real issue I have with it is it only sets down to 44. I usually set the garage thermostat at 40 to keep paint and other liquids from freezing. So I’ll use a little more propane now. Bright easy to see display with backlight, easy connection using standard wiring colors- (Be sure to mark your wires if replacing and old unit) fits in the same footprint as a Honeywell, shows the thermostat function when operating, even shows if in compressor delay mode, has a levelling bubble- Batteries are much easier to replace than the old Honeywell I replaced- good price point- a winner all around- be sure you have a small 1/8" flat blade screwdriver on hand to make the terminal connections- Simple operation not needing programming means no busy little fingers making unauthorized changes that you have to chase down and correct- just here's the setpoint, hold it. ... show more
