    • Terrific, as long as you know it’s limits
This is my third Noco boost charger. Like the ones before it, this one works extremely well. I disconnected my car battery and replaced it with a nearly dead 20AH UPS battery, which barely registered a “click” when I turned the key. With the Noco attached and at a temperature of about 5°C (40° F), my 3.5L V6 turned over about as fast as it does with a fully charged car battery. But as with all boost chargers, you have to know its limitations. First, as lithium ion cells age their internal resistance increases. This reduces the cranking amps they can provide, and eventually they won’t start your car. I have found that boost chargers like these, pretty much irrespective of brand, should be replaced every 3-ish years, or more like 2 years if you live in a cold climate. unless you have a battery load tester, the only way to test these is to disconnect your car battery or leave the lights on and let it go dead. Neither of those solutions are ideal, especially disconnecting your car battery which can lock you out of your infotainment system. To increase the boost charger’s lifespan, I suggest you charge it to 85%, not 100%. That’s enough to start your car multiple times, but it extends the lifespan of the battery. Once the Noco is too degraded to start your car, you can still use it as a power bank. Phone charging only requires a couple of amps, compared to the hundreds of amps your car needs. That usage can extend the life to five years or more. The second thing to consider is temperature. The cranking amps any lithium-ion battery can provide will drop precipitously as temperatures fall below 10° C (50° F). Below freezing they will work very poorly if at all. If you do need to use them in the winter, you should put the boost battery (cables disconnected!) inside your coat and warm it up for about 10 minutes before you start your car. The Noco does come at a cost premium, but I believe it is worth it. Various YouTube content creators have done fairly stringent electrical testing on various brands of boost starters, and the Noco almost always comes out on top. ... show more

    • Great for boat trips!
This past weekend, we took our new-to-us boat out on the water. Despite the marine battery sticker showing 6/21, and me trickle charging it with my NOCO charger, the boat battery died as i was trying to start the boat. Having a line of people who also wanted to put their boat in the water, I needed decide if we were pulling the boat out of the water or staying in... I was able to quickly connect this to the battery and the boat started right up. This absolutely saved the day!!! I got this after seeing someone else use one of these for my car. I have a car for my daughter who is doing her semester abroad, so the vehicle is rarely used. Because of this, the battery has drained and I would jump it with another car. This would take forever, so I bought this device. I opened the packaging and read the instructions around how to properly start the car. Once hooked up and ready, the car turned over on the first try. A very impressive device. Small and powerful. Allows you to jump start a dead car/truck battery without a second vehicle or long jumper cables. Got it for my F150 after the battery died in my single car garage. I had to track down a buddy and then string 2 sets of jumper cables together to connect the two batteries. A major pain. I’ve just used it once but my truck started immediately. My car wouldn't start; somehow, I overrode the automatic headlights and they drained the battery. I haven’t used this yet.. but that’s a good thing. I drive long distances and don’t like the idea of being stranded. I charged it up pretty quickly with my MacBook charger instead spending big bucks for their fast charger.     • PRINT OUT the first 10 pages of the Manual (for English). You will thank me!
I have (fortunately) not had occasion to use this yet, but I am very impressed with the design of the product, (small, light and compact with clearly labeled displays/ports), the packaging and what appears to be the simplicity of use. However, the manual is SO TINY I had trouble reading it even with my reading glasses on in bright daylight. So I clicked on the Manual in the Amazon description for my model and printed out the first 10 pages (The English instructions -- there are dozens of other languages). It prints out full 8.5 x 11 pages that are easy to read, and i will keep them with the product. I cannot imagine having to read that fine print when I in a stressful situation with a dead battery, or in dim lighting. Will update post once I have had occasion to use it. Which will likely not be long because my Subaru Outback battery dies constantly! (So far, two replacement batteries in 5 years -- but that's another story!) ... show more

My car's battery doesn't hold a charge, apparently they know about it and don't have a fix for it. After getting rescued by road side assistance in a tight parking garage, i learned about these little battery packs.
