Excellent charger I have an s550 Mercedes with a V8 and battery dies after a few weeks without starting car . I have had other chargers that were suppose to be able to start big V8s and they struggled . This one you as soon as you connect and go to start fires right up . I use it pretty frequently because like I said I don’t use car very often once a month once or twice every 6 weeks and this charger so far hasn’t disappointed holds its charge well and even if you don’t recharge after a jump start still has plenty of power . This thing is awesome! We have a Honda Odyssey that mostly sits and if I forget to start it every couple of weeks and don't connect the trickle charger, it will drain the battery. When I received this, the battery was totally dead - the dashboard lights wouldn't even come on when turning the key. I have jump started from another vehicle in this situation and it always takes 20+ minutes of charging from the other vehicle to get it to start. I attached this jump starter, hit the "over-ride" button and the car started immediately - no waiting! I may buy a second one so I can keep one in each vehicle at all times. I've purchased 2 units of this jump starter. it was a recommendation from a friend. I have to constantly jump my MIL's car to start it (I will replace the battery some day) and I've used it a couple of times to help people who were in need of a jump. It has yet to fail. USB-C is nice in the USB-C everything world. I can charge it easily and can use it to charge something else if needed. The device is compact enough to fit underneath my trunk mat, in a tray above the donut wheel. I don't use any of the other features but I also haven't had to jump a car at night in a while. Note: This review is based highly upon prior ownership of its slightly larger GBX55 sibling. Im confident this smaller unit will provide just as good of service. Yes, there are other makers out there that make less expensive, but excellent jump start packs. But Ive been willing to spend the extra money for this brand based upon its excellent record. NOCO has stood the test of time. On an item that could very well save your behind, its a no brainer for me. Pros: The perfect size for most vehicle needs. I also like that you can detach the jumper leads from the main body, making it very practical for tossing in the glove box. Its the sweet spot for me. Much smaller, and your giving up starts. They make a semi-rigid zipper case as an option not included, but then your loosing the advantage of its smaller size to a degree. TEHO. I own a NOCO GB40 that has lasted many years 7 I believe. It is time to retire it finally. I use it for work at a small dealership and it never fails. One thing I will note from another review is that it WILL activate if the vehicle battery is totally dead. You have to hit the Boost / Override button. There are no real instructions with this unit, just a warning book in several languages. You can find user instructions under support on Noco's website. Just select support / boost jumpstarters, then your model. The unit is pretty self explanatory except the "boost" function. I expect to get many years out of this GBX45, and it has a few extra features. USB-C charging In-Out is a plus, as are the extra light modes. That being said the GB40 has started everything that I tried it on. I use this probably more that most customers will. I did have to replace the jump leads on the GB40, but this was after over 5 years use and rough handling at times. When not being used for work, it resides in my trunk. I have never needed it for my personal car, but I have helped several others over the years. There are several other devices on Amazon that are less expensive with more power supposedly, but why chance it when I know this one should last many years like my last one did. I also buy from trusted brands only when it comes to rechargeable lithium batteries of this size. It is not worth a fire risk to save a few dollars! Cheaply assembled Lithium batteries are noted for overheating while being charged. At work we have had two that swelled to the point of being unsafe to charge. Not the NOCO. ... show more

This unit is expensive vs. competitors but it does carry a good load. It is supposed to sense the battery and kick into surge once it does. If the battery is really low, this does not happen and it's not apparent how to use it the booster pack. You have to put it into manual override and then it will work just fine - but I needed a manual to figure out how to do that. Good unit.
