I purchased the smallest 400A model to jump start my Prius (1.8L engine) after the 12V battery discharged on me. The NOCO jump starter arrived uncharged but with a warning to fully charge it first. Charging: It comes with a USB A to Micro-USB B cable, which I used with a USB wall adapter that came with my iPhone. NOCO's manual says it takes about 6 hours to charge with a 1A adapter (the iPhone's adapter carries 1A), which is about how long it took me to charge the jump starter. If you have a 2.1A adapter, the jump starter should charge in half the time. Cables: The biggest issue with the NOCO is that the included jumper cables are short. They're about a foot long and the negative lead was nowhere close to reaching the far side of the engine where Toyota recommends connecting it. In practice that's not a problem since you can reach the strut bolt above the fuse box or a bolt on the near side of the engine. Jumping: The NOCO is quite easy to use and has a safety feature that tells you if you have the cables connected backwards. I didn't try it but it was reassuring to know I was unlikely to damage my car or the jump starter. The NOCO's four power level lights blink in succession after connecting it properly to the jumping terminal and ground and then you start your car. It just worked with my Prius. Portability: The NOCO GB20 is very portable, about the size of a Chipotle burrito when you've asked for all the fillings. It comes with a cloth drawstring bag, nothing fancy but good enough to hold the jump starter, jumper cables, and USB cable and neatly pack it in your trunk. I would recommend also packing a USB wall adapter in case you ever need to recharge your jump starter in a situation when you have access only to a wall socket. The 400A GB20 did what I got it for -- it jump started my car and I found it more convenient than calling AAA and scheduling an appointment. It also can act as a USB charger for smartphones and even though I don't think I'll use it much for that, I appreciate the peace of mind it gives me for charging both my car and electronic devices. ... show more

Easter Sunday morning in Frankfort, KY. Had stopped overnight to boondock at the Walmart with our 2016 van towing a new 16' travel trailer. Woke up to continue our travels and the van's battery was dead. All service stations closed; 24/7 road service insurance on phone for 2+ HOURS trying to find help. Walmart customer driving by saw our hood up, pulled out this small, black device, hooked it up and had us going in LESS THAN 15 SECONDS!!! My wife had her phone out ordering one before I was back in the van! We have used it several times to help out friends, and have purchased several more -- 1 for our other car, and 1 each for our adult son and daughter. We consider it an essential piece of emergency driving equipment, not to mention the fact that it can also be used to power or recharge other electronic devices. VERY worth the money! ... show more

Left the dome light on in my 2010 Prius, and the next morning the 12V (traditional battery, not the hybrid traction battery) was dead. The 12V battery is required to power startup electronics in most hybrids, before engaging the hybrid battery system, so it's possible to have a dead battery in a hybrid too. Ordered this, came the next morning. Took about 2 hours to fully charge - **a USB cord is included but an actual charger that plugs into the wall is NOT included - you can just use a cell phone charger brick though**. Clipped the red + cable to my battery jumper terminal, and the black negative - clamp to an "unpainted metal piece" somewhere in the engine. Clicked the power button on the unit - nothing happened - BUT, then I pressed and held down the ( ! ) boost button for 3 seconds, and that immediately got the power flowing to the electronics, which allowed me to start the hybrid system. Perfect! I'm glad I didn't spend more on the higher amp options. This one was just fine for the intended use of occasional jump charging my hybrid cards. Build quality on this this is great, it feels heavy and solid, but compact, with good grips and bumpers. The lights are easy to see, buttons easy to press, and it includes a flashlight that is pretty bright - perfect for scouting where to clip the ground wire. One downside is the very short cable lengths themselves are less than 10 inches long. This makes for compact storage but means you can't clip the ground wire to the recommended location (which for a Prius is several feet away on the other side of the engine compartment). No problem, but you have to find a bare metal bolt or piece to clip to, I had to reach down a few inches between components to grab onto one I saw to the left of the fuse box. I did not test the USB device charging, but I'm sure it would work fine as a power bank - it's probably best, however to only charge and use this for car jumping, so you don't end up with a dead unit at that critical moment when your battery is dead. Everything shown in the attached photo is what you get (minus packaging) - the unit itself which is slightly larger than a dollar bill, and 2 inches thick, a detachable (from the unit but not from each other) set of clip on cables, a standard micro USB charging cable, a nylon drawstring carrying bag, and two booklets. I'll be keeping this in the Prius long term now. ... show more

    • Works great but its quite pricy
It does what it says on the tin and has saved me and my family in 2 situations already. I'm taking off a star for the lack of USB-C and the fact that the grips and buttons feel a little cheaper than they should for $75 Charging this large of a battery through micro USB takes HOURS and for the price, that's unacceptable. Pros: - Large battery capacity - Easy and fast to use - Boost feature helps with a very dead battery - Relatively small form factor - Nice carrying pouch Cons: - some parts feel a little cheap for $75 - Micro USB charging is VERY slow and unreasonable at this price ... show more
