  • Just what I needed for excellent flavored ground coffee
Color: Stone
Flavored ground coffee blends gum up the innards of sophisticated, expensive grind/brew/pour espresso and coffee machines. I have a Nespresso machine for wonderful espresso and lungo pours and I have a De'Longhi that grinds and then gives me all kinds of pour choices. But this Fall I wanted pumpkin spice, and some Barnie's blends and an interesting Mexican chocolate flavored coffee that I found. So I went looking online for a machine--not too expensive, but not too cheap either--that would provide me with the means to make a consistently hot, very rich, cup of flavored coffee with cream, worthy of drinking. I found this machine and I already love it. And it sits nestled between my Nespresso and De'Longhi machines on my coffee bar. In fact--and maybe because it is a novelty for me to be able to have wonderful flavored coffees at my fingertips--I have been using it more often than my other two, more expensive machines. But beware, or be aware: The price you pay for more flavorful coffee, will not be the one-time cost of this machine. It will be the fact that you will go through a bag of ground coffee way quicker than you ever imagined. I accept that. Because this machine makes the best cup of flavored ground coffee that I've ever had. This machine covers all the bases: Using the included filter in the brew basket, and with an ample water reservoir (56oz) at its back, it brews whatever ground coffee your heart desires, whatever grind, however much grounds you add to the filter, and however much water you press the button for. It has three lighted buttons for choosing a milder (Classic) or stronger (Rich) or even iced coffee. It makes for almost overwhelming opportunities to get the exact coffee you are looking for. And, hey, if those choices do overwhelm you, you can use the pod adapter in the brew basket and insert any kind of K-cup (not paper though), and just choose the amount of water for a single-serve. (But I don't use K-cup very often, so my review will not be addressing that feature.) And, the machine senses whether you have the filter or pod adapter in the brew basket and proceeds accordingly. I also have not tried the iced coffee feature. But from witnessing all the different ways this machine can provide you with the perfect strength coffee, I'm positive the iced coffee feature works well. Just use a vessel that can tolerate both hot and cold and fill it with ice, hit the proper button and let the hot coffee trickle into it. From reading reviews and the manuals that come with this machine, I assume that this is a relatively new product for Ninja. The manuals talk of a 4 ounce pour and a frother arm--both of these features are not included on this machine. And that is not an issue for me, the person who already has both of those features on other machines, but it might make a difference to you. So, to be clear this machine does not create froth (from your own heated milk in your own cup, which will be available on another model), nor does it give you the opportunity to make a 4 ounce pour. I am plenty okay with the 7 choices (of 6 ounces to 24 ounces) of water volumes. As this is a single pour machine, (then clean the grounds out of the filter basket), I will use my own quality carafe if I want to make enough coffee for a few morning cups or if I am entertaining a guest or two. But, and this is a possible fault: 24 ounces only stretches to three 8 ounce cups of coffee or 4 six ounce cups of coffee with cream, for instance. And, I'm adding this to my original review: I'd like to find a thermal carafe that fits under the spout of this machine. One that has a pour spout and a lid and no handle. Because I've been using a double-walled stainless steel travel mug and of course those do not have pour spouts--so it's a very messy pour from travel mug to coffee cup. The carafe without its lid would need to be no more than 8" tall and hold at least 26-28 ounces to the rim. I find several on Amazon, but none show the height without the lid. Nor is it obvious if the handle is part of the lid, because I'm thinking a handle would not allow the carafe to fit close enough to the machine's dispenser. What else I've experienced so far: --This machine makes coffee that is plenty hot, so hot that I can only take a tentative sip at first (and that is with cream included.) --It takes longer to brew than a Nespresso machine. It takes less time to brew than a drip machine. And the more water you use, the longer the brewing time. The reason: This machine allows the hot water to sit and stew in the grounds to provide a stronger, richer, flavor. Some quicker machines use pressure to build flavor and richness. But then machines built on the use of pressure do not allow ingredients other than coffee beans, so no flavored coffee grounds. --Brewing is done in stages that appear as lighted bars on top of the machine. It is nice to be able to see the progress. --The cup tray raises and lowers easily to accommodate different size vessels. The coffee does pour rather close to the machine. And the spout does not push in or out. It is a bit restrictive if you use certain uniquely-shaped vessels. --The pod adapter and filter both fit in a storage bin on one side of the machine. --The included spoon hangs from a hook on the other side of the machine. --Speaking of spoons and spoonfuls: You may be surprised how quickly you go through a bag of coffee..... --You will need to make decisions about how much grounds and how much water and what size vessel. You will need to know the volumes of your different cups. Or, if that is something you don't want to do, use the K-cup feature and you'll only need to decide on the water amount and the cup size. --Cleaning is relatively easy, just the brew basket and filter or pod adapter. --Descaling is easy too: 16 ounces of white vinegar or a descale solution and water and a 2 quart vessel and push a button. It takes 75 uninterrupted minutes. ... show more

  • Small coffee maker big on coffee
Color: Navy
This is perfect for my small kitchen. It does both ground and kcup coffee. If you do the ground option yes it does stop for a moment but picks right back up. Its just trying to pull water from the reservoir and then heat it. Dont think it is broken, its not....thats how it works. Perfect scooper for the ground basket. It also can use the 1 needle reusable kcups so you can brew your own coffee instead of buying kcups. No odor except the nice brew of the coffee. Not very heavy at all. Comes with scooper, the basket for ground coffee and the kcup holder. If you are using either or, the other has a compartment holder to store it at, at the bottom side of the machine (so no losing it). ... show more

  • Best affordable single cup coffee maker
Color: Navy
If you’re looking for a single cup coffee maker, this one checks all the boxes. I prefer to ground my own coffee, although K cups will do in a pinch if I’m in a rush. I’m finding it much easier to use ground coffee with this machine, and it has all sorts of handy features like making a cup of coffee up to 24 ounces unlike the Keurig, which is limited to 12 ounces maximum, being able to adjust the cup height so you can accommodate yetis as well as shorter cups if you’re worried about splash over. And on top of that, it has a neat little storage compartment for the extra parts. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it makes a great cup of coffee! It’s definitely an upgrade from my Keurig. ... show more

  • Unable to brew coffee
Color: Stone
I loved this coffee maker. Easy to use and made great coffee until it didn’t. Never had an issue for 1-1/2 years and on May 25, on a Monday morning, couldn’t turn it on to brew. The method signs of pod and grounds just kept flashing. Tried troubleshooting, even did a complete clean, with no resolution. I called manufacturer and the rep told me to do the same interventions I had already done, even some that didn’t apply because I don’t use pods. After an hour of dealing with this, he told me the brewing motor must be broken and the unit would need to be replaced. Of course, the warranty was expired, so I would have to purchase a new one. He offered to replace the unit without all of the extra pieces and that was acceptable as they were ok. He gave me 20% off, so cost was about 2/3 of a new one. I did not have to send it back. The new one arrived. I set it all up to make a cup of coffee, pressed brew and the same problem. The methods kept flashing, would not brew. I called and expressed my great dissatisfaction with their product. I think my replacement was a return with the same problem I had with my original unit. The rep offered a complete replacement with all of the extras at no additional cost. I turned him down and asked for the money I paid for the replacement to be credited back to my account. There was no problem with that request. I did not have to return the unit. That night, I ordered a Cuisinart. I received my credit the next day. I just received my new Cuisinart and set it up. In the morning, I will brew my first cup of coffee in ten days and expect no problems. There were a couple of reviews for Cuisinart that stated it failed, but the other reviews were all positive. With fingers crossed, I will press the brew button and be drinking coffee a couple minutes later. If this one fails, I’ll go to Target and buy a $30 drip coffee maker. Except for the extreme hassle I had with this Shark product, I have to say both times I contacted customer service, the reps were pleasant and as helpful as they could be and very apologetic. That eased some of the anxiety dealing with this. In the end, maybe these one-cup coffee makers just don’t last very long. SPM 6/3/2026 ... show more

  • Buy This Coffee Maker!!!
Color: Navy
I stopped sipping the Keurig kool-aid and found the Ninja! This unit checks all the boxes for me. Not only is it beautiful on my minimalist countertop (I bought it in navy blue), it brews a great cup of coffee in less than one minute! I love the adjustable platform. Being able to put my cups close to the spout eliminates the splashing and sputtering mess that often comes when dispensing from far above the cup. The iced coffee setting brewed the perfect glass of iced coffee - just as good as Starbucks and I saved myself $7! An unexpected surprise is the storage compartment located in the unit for the alternate filter. The water reservoir is easy to handle and is easily visible without being bulky or unsightly. I'm very happy. ... show more

  • READ CAREFULLY! READ CAREFULLY!
Color: Stone
***Update 4/20/2025- Machine still going and working properly. I use it 2-3 days a week (when coffee shop is closed) THIS IS NOT AN EXPRESSO MACHINE. What I've discovered: Coffee isn't as hot as I like it- Make sure to let the machine sit for a few mins before brewing or run a 6oz of water thru. if I don't want to wait, I just heat up my cream in the microwave. I brew ground coffee on rich setting at 14oz, and it is quick and does brew a nice cup (if using good coffee) the coffee itself makes a difference. It is easy to clean BUT you need to clean it every time IF you're using pods that contain milk. If you're just running regular coffee/pods, then I clean once a week. Water tank size- I'm the only one in the house that uses it, so it's fine. If you have more than 2 ppl using, then it might be too small, and you may need to refill often. I use tap water (well water with softener) and have not had an issue. Froth vs no froth- The universe was looking out for me. If I had the model with the froth wand I don't think I would use it. Do I recommend? -looking for a budget friendly single serve coffee maker then YES. I don't regret my purchase. -Looking for an expresso machine instead of going to coffee shop. NO keep shopping this is not for you. I deducted 1 star just because it's not as hot as I would like and you can't adjust the temp. but overall, it's a really good machine and I really love the storage it has! ***THE END** I picked the stone-colored coffee maker, and it DOES NOT have a froth function like the other colors! I'm okay with it because it was not a selling point for me. They sent me the PB041 I thought I ordered the PB051. SO again, just pay attention before you check out! On the other hand, this thing is beautiful! Has storage for all of its components! I will update my review once I use it... I literally just unboxed it! ::Same day update!:: I'm absolutely in love with this coffee maker! There is trial and error to get your preferred ratio of flavor but that is true for any new coffee maker. 5 stars! ... show more

  • Fabulous!
Color: Stone
I'm loving my new Ninja. I've had SO many different types of coffee makers. My favorite is a stovetop percolator. This is perfect especially since you can use pods or the basket filter. I don't like the mess with the reusable baskets but oh well. I now use a small filter & it works great inside the basket filter to cut down on the messy grounds. The size is perfect & thin & love the water container in back. I use filtered water. Mine seemed noisy at first, but not a big deal I guess. I didn't hear the maker on any of the videos that I watched prior to my purchase. I already have a frother, so I didn't really need that. I have Our Place & Beautiful appliances so the cream color matched those pieces good enough. I did have some tiny droplets dripping from the condensation on the side, but that has stopped. I don't see it being any hotter than any other coffeemaker. My last was a 4 cup stainless carafe Cuisinart, which I loved, except for the burner black covering wore off after 2 years. I think the heat is fine & I haven't used the auto shut off yet bc I unplug all of my appliances after use & just plug them in when I use them. So far, I'm loving the basket more than pods. I like strong french roast coffee, so I use the basket w/ Gevalia French Roast in the morning- using less than a regular machine, which is great & I love the rich button. I have found that SBX Italian roast pods are fantastic. If you use a big mug just up the oz. I use a decaf pod in the evening, or just use empty pod basket for hot water. for tea or cocoa. I'm very pleased with the construction of this model w/ the cord caddy, storage drawer, spoon holder & water storage. It's fabulous! Very pleased. *UPDATE: I purchased tiny filters for this & they work great but they're a bit expensive. I have filters from my previous machine & have found that using a "regular small basket type filter" is able to fold over one side of the permanent filter just a tiny bit after fitting it into the basket. This works much better than the expensive super small filters & less messy because those tiny ones still allow some seepage of grounds into the gold basket. (That's just me, but I don't like the mess w/ only using a permanent filter). I wash the permanent filter by hand w/ a brush (& a toothbrush if needed) to make sure it's spotless after each use. The brush works quick, great & removes oils & grounds from top piece. I really, really love this coffeemaker. It's one of my favorite purchases. I use it 3-4 × day. It works perfectly. ... show more

  • Love the performance, no issues as others reported.
Color: Blue
My wife and I love this thing. It makes great coffee, you can set a wide range of amounts from a small brewing basket or any K-cup, and it’s fast. We spent a lot of time looking over ratings for this one and a few others and risked the bad ratings on leaks and fragile plastic. Replacing a dual-function Cuisinart that had a k-cup on one side and a regular pot brewing on the other, we worried most about the plastic complaints. We filled the old one and this one with a base based nozzle from the faucet on the old one and the new one so we were less concerned with that, but the strength and thickness of the Ninja is at least as good as the Cuisinart coffee maker’s single cup brewing water container. I think it will stand up as long as we do not drop it. That breaks a lot of modern plastic containers. The packing was the usual adhesive plastic film over many spots to protect scratches, molded cardboard on top and bottom, and heavy cardboard beyond that, then the typical good Amazon packing. Nothing bounced around and all was intact. No issues there. The other complaint was leaking. We did not see that issue, but one thing I learned the hard way with the old coffee maker’s k-cup adapter, was that it was very important to seat the plastic cup before pushing down the cover. There are two puncture points, the bottom into the cup’s plastic and the top through the thin film top. Because the bottom pushes directly through when you push it down before closing the top that pivots down in a quarter circle, not doing that first causes the top cover to tear the film too much and it leaks around the top cover seal. If you push it down first, the tear is absent or minimized and does not leak. It took me quite a while to figure that out and later have my wife give me an “Of course, you idiot. Read the instructions “ remark. This may be the cause of others seeing leaks. And they are messy, with wet coffee grounds flowing all over. Push the cup down. We also happen to like the retro color blue. It looks like 50’s/60’s appliance colors of old. We like that look versus the ubiquitous stainless steel all over. So far, glowing remarks. If anything changes I’ll post another TLDR review. ... show more
