  • Amazing espresso machine!
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
I'm going to preface this by saying I am no coffee expert and I don't drink coffee that often. This is my first ever espresso machine from Ninja, but it is not my first coffee machine from Ninja. My experience with this machine has been amazing! It takes the guess work out of making espresso drinks completely. All you have to do is add your favorite beans and press some buttons and you'll have a drink in no time. The machine will grind the beans for you and suggest a ground size based on the settings you pick. It'll also calibrate the recommendation based off of your beans. To do this, you do 2 calibration cycles with the grinder first. After that, it'll be locked in. It'll grind out about 18.5g of coffee for the double espresso attachment. You can manually set the strength and temperature. The strength will change the recommended size of the coffee grounds and also the amount of liquid you get out. They provide you with a book that has all of the recommendations based on the roast you buy. After it grinds the beans, you just tamper it with the provided tamper and then lock it into the brewing portion of the machine. Then you press the start brew button and let it do its thing. You'll have fresh espresso in a few seconds! There is also an attachment called luxe for coffee and triple shots. This machine can make coffee and espresso. This thing also comes with an auto-frother. You just put milk in and set it to the right type of milk (plant or regular), your froth level, and then press a button and it'll automatically do the frothing for you. I find that it works really well for latte art! Setting up the machine was super easy. You just have to measure the hardness of your water first with the provide test strips. This is just so your machine will remind you when you need to descale it. This machine is very quiet. It isn't that loud at all. It looks sleek and amazing. It is smaller than the original version and takes up less counter space. It only feels a little bit cramped because you can't froth and make espresso at the same time. This isn't a big deal though. The frother also has a manual option if you would rather do that. I can steam milk as well. This machine is pricey, but I think it is worth it for the price if you want fresh espresso without having to worry too much about thinking. This machine does it all. Overall, I would recommend this machine! It's also super easy to clean. The water tank in the back comes out, the bean hopper comes out, the grinder comes out. The frother purges itself after you're done. The waste water base comes out to pour out easily. You just gotta wipe down the frother with a towel after using it. You can also wipe the area that comes into contact with the portafilter afterwards. There is also a thing that pops up to bring your cup up higher if it is too short. Definitely a 5/5 machine. ... show more

  • Easy recommendation for someone who just wants decent espresso every morning
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
I start every day with an espresso, and I've gone pretty far down the rabbit hole with Gagguinio. I don't think I'm quite the right market for this machine - I've hit some limitations that my personal machine covers. It's competing with the Breville Barista series - and I think this competes really well. I've been running it as my daily office machine for about a week, and I really do like it. It'd be an easy recommend to someone who just wants an espresso every morning without diving into flow profiles or very specific temperatures or super light-roast beans. Things I like: * Barista Assist gets you into the ballpark of decent espresso without forcing you to follow it — you can still dial from there. * True non-pressurized espresso basket, not a pressurized basket faking crema * Grinds by weight, accurately. My shot scale found it within 0.1grams. grounds well contained, no chaff or spills * Tamper design forces a level puck * Auto-froth is genuinely good for daily use * Parts feel solid throughout; controls are mostly intuitive even before your first coffee Things I'm less happy with: * No ratio or shot size adjustment — I fine-tune my shots with ratio, after I get the grind close. This machine really doesn't allow for that. * Temperature adjustment exists but in unmarked steps; no dialing to a specific degree * Steam wand has no ball joint - it snaps in and out. No side-to-side adjustment. * Some clumping after dispense causes occasional channeling; a WDT whisk fixed it, but no tool included, and no good place to store one. This causes some channeling, and makes the grind-size hunt around a bit. * Portafilter lockup is too tight — the whole machine slides on the counter before it's fully locked. Installing the portafilter requires 2 hands. * No obvious home for the second basket or the steamer pot. * Aftermarket accessories are limited and often incompatible — most bottomless portafilters for the full-size Café Luxe are too tall for this compact model. Baskets are an odd size, no real alternatives available. Burrs seem to be proprietary, no published size. Replacements available, but no aftermarket upgrades. * Grinder motor bogs down on super light roasts. If you want real espresso without going deep into the enthusiast rabbit hole, this delivers. Super-enthusiasts will bump into its ceilings pretty quickly, but for everyone else it's an excellent daily driver. Overall the parts feel good in the hand. I don't love the plastic filter handle, but everything looks good. Very modern look. The grounds are well contained during grinding, nothing leaks out and no chaff flying around. I think it compares to the Breville machines really well - it's a bit less expensive and gets a very similar job done. ... show more

  • Decaf lovers, it's for us too!
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
I have to start this by admitting something that probably makes me an odd person to review an espresso machine - I don’t even drink caffeinated coffee. I actually ordered this because I wanted the option to make quality decaf drinks at home, and because I was curious whether the machine itself lived up to the hype, and well... It absolutely does. Immediately, the machine feels premium. The stainless steel finish gives it a high-end look without being oversized, so it fits nicely on my countertop without dominating the kitchen. Setup was surprisingly straightforward, even for someone who isn’t a coffee enthusiast. The controls are intuitive, and after a few minutes, I felt comfortable navigating the different brewing options. One of my favorite features is the built-in grinder. Being able to grind fresh beans immediately before brewing makes the whole experience feel much more like visiting a coffee shop than simply pushing a button on a standard coffee maker. The grinder isn’t obnoxiously loud, and having everything integrated into one machine saves a lot of counter space. The AutoFroth system also deserves recognition. It creates rich, creamy foam with very little effort, which makes homemade lattes and cappuccinos feel like an actual treat. Even using decaf beans, the drinks tasted smooth and noticeably fresher than anything I could get from a pod machine. I also appreciate that this machine grows with you. If you’re brand new to espresso, it doesn’t feel intimidating. If you’re already into coffee, there are enough customization options to dial in your drinks exactly how you like them. The only advice I’d give is to expect a bit of a learning curve during the first couple of uses. Like any quality espresso machine, you’ll spend a little time experimenting with grind size, bean choice, and drink settings. Once you get familiar with it, though, the results are incredibly consistent. Overall, I’m genuinely impressed. This feels like one of those appliances you’ll actually use instead of letting it collect dust. Whether you’re making regular espresso, drip coffee, iced drinks, or, as in my case, great-tasting decaf lattes, it delivers a premium experience without feeling overly complicated. If you’ve been debating whether a higher-end all-in-one machine is worth the investment, I can honestly say this one exceeded my expectations. It looks beautiful, performs beautifully, and makes staying home feel just a little more like your favorite café. ... show more

  • Good Espresso; Poor Regular Coffee
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
Makes a very good espresso pour, but regular coffee not so good. At the weakest settings and max grind size, coffee is way too strong. The grinder fills the portafilter to the top, using about 3-4x the coffee that would be used in a reusable K-cup. Tried using a smaller amount of grounds, but the portafilter doesn’t drain (I guess it needs a full load for proper pressure?). ... show more

  • WOW! Wow wowie wow wow!
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
It can be a daunting task when shopping for a home espresso/coffee machine. I know that I have spent hours reading product descriptions, manuals and even reviews trying to find one that fit all of my needs and was built to last. I own several Ninja products, their commercial blender and vacuum were my biggest expenditures before this. Those two appliances are going strong after ten years! I recently purchased the Ninja Specialty Drip Coffee Maker, DualBrew Pro, Black, CFP301 a few months ago. I wanted something versatile- that one has a pod adapter. I also wanted something small and compact that would fit on a small counter section of my kitchen that is dedicated for coffee brewing. That model is still going strong after six months and quickly became a favorite kitchen appliance. It checked all the boxes for almost everything I was looking for but doesn’t make single shots of espresso, which I miss from my days of being a cafe owner. At my cafe, I owned a La Marzocco Linea PB AV Auto Volumetric Espresso Machine. That was a $23k dollar machine! I also owned a La Marzocco Swift $7800 grinder. In comparison, this Ninja Lux Cafe mini gives me ALMOST the same results as those two combined. The pour for each shot of espresso has been consistent and the level of crema is comparable to what I would get from my La Marzocco. The temperature seems to be where it needs to be to make the perfect shot of espresso. It runs quietly too! The grinder works almost as well as my Swift grinder. Each grind has been consistent and exactly as the preset described. The assisted tamper is included, and the design is engineered to help you achieve a level puck automatically. This works very well. Overall, I am VERY impressed with this little machine. It works even better than I imagined, it looks great- fits perfectly on my small counter coffee bar and cleans up easily too. When you compare to higher end models out there, this one is an amazing value with outstanding results. Every cup has tasted great! If you want great espresso, perfectly frothed milk, a fantastic cup of drip and a capable grinder that is super simple to use and clean, this one is for you! A great little machine! ... show more

  • Affordable entry-level machine
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
We have had a Ninja drip coffeemaker for 6-1/2 years and it is still going strong. So when I ordered this Ninja Luxe Cafe Mini Plus I knew I was ordering an appliance that will be in my kitchen for many years. The first thing I like about this machine is its compact footprint. I was afraid I would have to choose between this one and the carafe machine but this is actually the smaller of the two and fits easily underneath my cabinet, although I do have to pull it out to refill the water reservoir. It doesn’t put off a lot of steam like the carafe machine does so I feel comfortable having it under there. I am not experienced with espresso machines so I was a little bit worried that it would be too complicated, but the machine is so auto that it pretty much tells you what to do. It has two different basket sizes so you can have an espresso or a regular drip coffee if you prefer. It has several customization selections, from grind size, coffee strength and brew temperature to volume of output. The autofrother also allows you to customize type of milk and desired froth level. It only took me a couple of tries to get the hang of it. It has several little features that I appreciate, like a funnel that snaps in place during grinding to prevent chaff from blowing out on the machine and countertop, a storage spot on top for the funnel and tamper and an auto purge on the frother. The only minor issue I have had is that the portafilter was extremely tight at first and I had to hold the machine in place with one hand while fitting the filter with the other. But after about a dozen uses it does seems to be getting a little better. I don’t claim to be an expert on espresso or coffee in general, but after about a week of use and trying different coffees and froths, I am impressed with the delicious coffee I am able to make in my own home. Out of curiosity, I did a search on the different machines available and this one is much more affordable than most of the other machines out there. So if you are wanting an entry level machine that makes a good cup of coffee, this is a solid choice from a brand that I have found to be very reliable over the long term. ... show more

  • Excellent All-in-One Espresso Machine Without the Usual Hassle
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
I’ve used plenty of coffee makers, but this is the first espresso machine I’ve had that makes the process feel genuinely straightforward. The built-in grinder, assisted dosing, and guided grind settings take a lot of the guesswork out of getting a good shot, which is especially useful if you aren't interested in spending weeks learning the finer points of espresso. The espresso has been consistently good, and I really like that I can adjust the strength and temperature when I want to experiment. The grinder is also surprisingly quiet and keeps the grounds well contained. The AutoFroth is probably my favorite feature. It produces smooth, consistent foam without having to manually steam the milk, but there is also a manual option if you want more control. Being able to make a latte or cappuccino without having to figure out the steaming process makes this much more approachable than a traditional espresso setup. Despite everything it can do, the Mini Plus doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of counter space. Cleaning is also easier than I expected, with removable components and an automatic purge for the frother. The main thing I'd mention is that there is still a small learning curve. You may need to experiment with your beans and grind settings before everything is dialed in, and the portafilter is quite tight when new. Overall, this is an excellent choice for someone who wants fresh-ground espresso and milk drinks at home without turning coffee preparation into a hobby. It offers a lot of the convenience of a superautomatic machine while still giving you enough control to customize your drinks. ... show more

  • Glorified coffee machine
Style: Luxe Café Mini Plus AutoFroth
It works but with a few caveats. The coffee grinder is great and grinds well but it leaves a lot of coffee grounds stuck up inside and when you're placing the portafilter or tapping the machine, coffee grounds spill down. Another thing I've noticed is the funnel lets coffee grounds slip through the edges between the portafilter and it, you have to constantly wipe the rim of the filter before placing it on the machine. The machine constantly needs readjustments for coffee grinding, instructions say once you run beans twice you're good to go after set up and only new beans requires readjustment but that's not true, I've been using the same beans and after every use it requires adjustment. The amount off coffee that comes out based on setting is completely off and basically identical at all levels 1, 2 and 3, however the temperature is accurate. Espresso strength settings are inconsistent, for example sometimes 1 is significantly stronger than 3. Milk frothing has 3 levels and for some reason the 2nd option is the frothiest and thickest while option 3 that is supposed to be just that, isn't and it's quite disappointing. The machine looks premium but it's mostly plastic and I do like that it's compact and does a decent job at keeping it simple but overall I'm at odds with it and not quite sure if it's worth recommending as an espresso machine, I feel like it's more of a coffee machine with added capabilities. ... show more
