  • Works super with long telephoto
Style: Single
I use this with my super-telephoto for bird photography. Makes it much quicker to get the bird in the viewfinder. Put the dot on the bird, look through the viewfinder and shoot. If the bird isn't there, either you moved or the bird hopped away! If neither of you move, the bird WILL be there. I like it so much that when, at the end of my first week with it, I forgot it in the car, I left the camera with my wife and walked all the way back out to the car to get it. It makes that much difference in getting the camera onto the small warblers I was photographing that day. ... show more

  • Way to Bright
Style: Single
This is way to bright even at it’s dimmest mode. Ok in bright daylight but in woods for birding it will be to bright. A little loose in hot shoe but large thumb ring makes it somewhat easier to snug down. Still need to calibrate often. Adjustment knobs on side are easy to use but also easy to accidentally move. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Style: Single
I bought a new Nikon Coolpix P1000 superzoom camera and had trouble tracking birds and other distant objects while using the zoom. Simply mount this little beauty on your camera's hot shoe. It will give you a wide-angle viewing field in which you can place a red or green lighted dot on the far-off object. Track the stationary or moving object(s) with the dot and you're all set to capture the shot you'd likely miss with the zoom alone. The Dot Sight even provides you with three styles of dots, and you can adjust their brightness. I was reluctant to spend so much money on something that hadn't yet been reviewed on Amazon, but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat! ... show more

  • Just What I Needed for Birds in Flight
Style: Single
Fits perfectly in the hot shoe on my Nikon Z50 and P950 cameras. Helps me easily find and track birds in flight when my lens is zoomed to the limit. Sighting in is quick and easy. Target stays accurate as long as I don’t bump the sight too hard with my forehead. This device helps me get shots I would have missed and improves my keeper rate. ... show more

  • Interesting accessory I never thought to buy
Style: Single
Since I like the long range on my Nikon CoolPix P1000 and knowing from prior Nikon experience that long range moving target acquisition can be difficult. I read about this and am impressed. It uses a available battery size, fits in the shoe and is adjustable instinctually when first aligning it to your camera viewfinder display. Two colors, three different dot shapes and brightness control along with the cool james bond popup activation, make this a serious consideration for long distance eye relief when trying to get and keep subjects in the lense. ... show more

  • Does the job but could be a lot better
Style: Single
Fundamentally this allows me to have the zoom in the 2000-3000 mm and line up on an object to take a shot or video. So in that regard it does the job, however , it’s expensive and for this price and with the Nikon brand I expected something a bit better made. The “dot” you see isn’t sharp , it’s got multiple reflections that combine in a strange way to make a fuzzy “dot”. Also , there is nothing to line it up with in the sight, so you need to train your brain to treat this like an aperture sight and centre the dot in the square. If you don’t do this “centering” you won’t see your object on the camera view screen. The pop up part feels flimsy and the slide switches feel cheap. It really does fee like an accessory you need to handle with kid gloves , I’m not sure how long it will last ! ... show more

  • Works...but
Style: Single
Not a bad solution to ultra zoom issue. My understanding is that this was designed for the P1000 camera. I have used it for trying to take pictures of flying birds at maximum zoom. This device works pretty well, you just keep the center dot over what you are trying to take a picture of. It does not work in practice though, since the P1000 is so poor at auto focusing on fast moving objects. Perhaps this is good for slower moving objects, since this dot sigh would not be needed for stationary objects. This device may work better on cameras that have better object tracking AF. ... show more

  • I does what they claim it will do.
Style: Single
Just secure it well to your camera while on a tripod. Zoom in "lock" on distant object and then center the red dot on the object. After doing that you are good to go. However each time you put your DF-M1 on your camera you can expect to go through this process. It's easy to do. I'm very pleased with it. ... show more
