  • Flush fit looks great

Works great, so nice and cleaning looking on the wall after it is installed. Flush look.

  • No separate chime for rear door
Style: Modern
As a matter of personal preference, I dislike the Westminster chime and prefer the simple “ding-dong.” The EDC features a separate connection for a rear door, which I was hoping would sound a ding-dong or at least a shorter Westminster, but unfortunately it sounds the same Westminster chime as the connection for the front door. Not sure why they decided to include a separate “rear door” connection as the same result could be achieved by wiring two buttons together. I will try the more expensive PrimeChime Plus 2 next for this functionality, but I really preferred the looks of the more discreet, smaller, single-gang EDC. That complaint aside, it seems well manufactured, was easy to hook up, and worked well. It does exactly what it says on the packaging, but sadly nothing more. ... show more

  • Neverending doorbell
Style: Modern
As others have noted, as soon as I turned the power back on it was non-stop ringing. I assumed I had just put the wires in to deep so I would just have to remove them, trim them and reinstall. the wires go in easy enough, but getting them out was a challenge. There were little button looking things above the wire holes but trying to push/wiggle them side to side had no effect. when I finally removed the wires and trimmed them, I could not get them to stay in. I bought this doorbell the replace the original one, since it fit in a single gang box, but... ... show more

  • Clever idea but poorly designed
Style: Modern
The idea of a combined 1-gang transformer/chime is a great idea, but this product falls short. My complaints: no volume adjustment, no differentiation from "front door" and "back door" circuit, the Westminster chime is just a little over the top and could use at least one alternative such as ding-dong, worst is the punch-down wire connector (see picture). The connector is extremely tiny, allowing stripped wires to touch and set off the doorbell on its own. Additionally there is no strip gauge to know how far to strip the insulation off the wire before inserting. If you use 18g stranded wire, it will be very difficult or impossible to fit in. The connector does not grip well and when pushing chime into 1-gang box, any stress at all will pop the wire out or push the stripped ends together setting off chime continuously. Why not just use a screw-down connector and space them out? Finally, the included screws meant to secure the chime to the 1-gang box are very short. If you need a slightly longer screw, you will have problems switching as the chime plate and box are held together by the screws. ... show more

  • You'll need 110vac and doorbell wires in the one box. sound is ok, just electronic sounding.
Style: Modern
For me, for "home use" , I wanted a different sound. For a shop great. I'll find a different use for this. But I did try it and it worked fine. Maybe in the basement as a second noise maker.... That's a great idea!

  • Works well, sounds terrible
Style: Modern
It does it's job, but the sound is awful. It feels like a pawn shop when you ring our bell. I hate it, but husband insisted on it.

  • It does exactly what it is described to be
Style: Modern
I wanted to replace the large chime that was hanging off my wall, and this did exactly that. volume is fine for me. Only gripe, the screws are kinda short... I need to find longer screws because they will not reach the box. The box is set a little deep... but not so much that it should be a problem.
