    • Very Heavy Duty, Works Well
This NEXPOW 5000A Jump Starter is the most powerfully rated jump starter I have had the pleasure of testing and using. My idea in graduating to the 5000 Amp rated unit was to give me a little more headroom starting my 7.3 liter diesel on cold mornings. I have a 2500 Amp unit which features the same overall battery capacity. But, this unit is heavier and overall a few inches longer. I am assuming the added size and weight are due to larger and heavier components necessary to handle the larger current capabilities. The unit will easily start my truck when the dual batteries are all but depleted. The truck starts normally otherwise, with no issues. I am not able to test the claimed 10 liter diesel starting power. But really, who has a 10 liter engine in other than commercial trucks and construction vehicles. I am pessimistic about such stratospheric claims. But, my statement is just that, pessimism. I have not tested this unit on such a large engine. The power of these units, in general are amazing. So, I may well be surprised. This particular unit has much heavier duty clamps than other lower power units I have used. These are serious clamps and cables rivaling professional and expensive commercial use jumper cables. This is a plus justifying stepping up a few notches. The force start button is a necessary and useful feature as without this the unit can signal reverse polarity when connected to very weak batteries and refuse to operate. Pushing this button overrides this check. One of the most useful functions of many of these units is the power station feature. This potentially provides emergency USB power to charge cell phones, etc. This one also includes a 12 volt female cigarette lighter plug attachment which allows you to power any 12 volt device equipped with such a plug. That could come in handy. Though this emergency power bank feature is very useful and could actually save your life by allowing one or more full recharge cycles of your cellphone it is not very efficient at this. I have yet to test a boost starter's power bank feature which would charge my phone's 7000 mAh battery fully more than once without nearly fully depleting the unit's battery down to one bar, even though the unit boasts a battery capacity three times larger. Similar sized, purpose built, emergency power banks are much more efficient. This said that is not the primary purpose of this unit. They do provide emergency power in a pinch. But, be aware, if you are stuck in a snow bank, run your vehicle battery down and use the jump starter emergency power bank capability to charge your phone you likely will lack sufficient power to use the unit to then start your vehicle. This is a very good quality unit which works well. The price is a little high with this step up in claimed starting power. The components are definitely heavier duty and just plain nice. But, I'm not sure the increased price is totally justified. My only minor gripe is the clamp/accessory pouch in the otherwise very nice semi-hard shell case is a little lacking as to space. It required some finagling to get everything to stay inside and in place prior to closing the case. A few extra inches space would be preferable. But, this is very minor and no reason to deduct stars. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The unit gets five full stars. ... show more

Finally had an opportunity to use this to jumpstart a person's car. It worked great! Have used this a few times as a battery to charge things like phones and other items while sampling. Have also used this as a battery source for our standup paddle board pump and this too worked well. It is sort of heavy and perhaps bulky, but the stored power is amazing. ... show more

I am not sure how to write a useful review on this, except to say, if you don't have one of these, you really should get one. I have been lucky enough to not need this particular one since I ordered it, so I can't speak on the battery life or anything, but after having to use similar ones, I can say these can be your best friend. I understand you may be in cell phone range of AAA, but I mostly am not. And when the battery is dead, and the truck won't start, this makes the difference of getting home, or hoping someone comes looking for me. As an added bonus, you can use them as a power pack to run USB items, or to charge a phone or lamp or something. With this, there is no need to wander a parking lot hoping to find someone with jumper cables who is also willing to give you a jump start. Everyone should have one of these. ... show more

This is small, compact, and portable. I've been stranded before from leaving my lights on, and finding someone to jump your car, along with making sure you have jumper cables is stressful.     • Great jump starter, price jumps too much
When I ordered this I think the price was around $100, shortly after it jumped to almost $200, as of this comment the device is unavailable. Now that we have that out of the way, this is my 2nd nexpow jump starter. The first one is still working wonderfully, it just only has a 1500A peak power and a lower 12000mah battery. This one lasts longer, conveniently can charge phones and the flashlight is pretty decent too. I appreciate the sturdy construction and the included carrying bag. The only thing I don't understand is why they put such flimsy plastic connectors (the part that plugs the jumpers into the box) on such an otherwise well-made device. They're functional but not nearly as sturdy as the rest of it. As long as you protect that you'll be fine. ... show more

    • Very surprised just how well this little power pack works
I was a bit doubtful this would jump start a vehicle from a dead battery, more so that it would supply the needed cold cranking amps but wow, yep, it worked. I have a car I drive maybe 6 or so times a year, more on weekends in the summer with the top down. Its never been a surprise when sometimes when I go outside to start the car the battery is dead. I picked this up in those off moments given how portable and such it is and it really surprised me. As someone who once was that person who had a BIG old battery charger in the garage I've given it up and just have this one now and for my purposes it works great. ... show more

    • Awesome to keep in car
I've been having an issue with my car battery here recently and it's so random I never know when it's not gonna start. So I got this to keep in my car. After I got it I didn't open it for a little bit. Tio one day my battery was acting up again and I finally opened it. It charged it up right out of the bag. I was shocked. I thought I was gonna have to charge it before I used it. I've used it a few times after that and I still haven't had to charge it yet. That's awesome. It comes with a light built in it.
