Unboxing: The projector unit and its components came with a clean presentation, being well organized and supported within the box. I read through the Safety guide, User Manual, and Quick start guide - they were very well written and easy to understand especially in comparison to other technology manuals. I immediately noticed how sleek the projector’s physical design is, and I really like the built in handle. It almost reminds me of a guitar amp, and is much more practical than many other projector designs including the PJ40 (Nexigo - this was my last projector from the same company). Using no backscreen, just a white wall: I performed the initial setup of my projector without a backscreen and only a white wall, and I was not disappointed with the results. The brightness of the projector and resulting image quality was robust enough to not even notice the wall texturing, nor was there any distracting shine or reflection coming from the wall. With 100 inch backscreen: The quality was just as good as the white wall that I am currently using. That said, if your wall has any glare or reflection then I think using a back screen is essential. While using the backscreen I found a really cool feature - at the beginning when the projector starts up it calibrates the image. It was able to detect the size of the screen and auto calibrate to resize the image to fit the backscreen perfectly. Ease of focus for picture quality: Upon booting up the projector for the first time, the software did a walkthrough that was quick and painless, auto adjusting the focus and allowing easy manual adjustments to be made using the Projector remote. The auto focus worked so well, I did not even need to do any manual adjustment! Compared to my other projector this is very efficient. Oftentimes while using my older projector I would find myself having to use the knob on the projector to manually adjust the focal length if I ever bumped the desk it rests on, or if the projector position moved a couple inches. User interface: I found navigating through the menus to be easy and straightforward, with the shortcuts and tabs ordered in an easily findable way. The aesthetic was clean and used cool colors that are easy to look at for long periods of time. It was easy enough to use where you don’t even really need to read the manual to figure out most of the features. My hardware setup: I prefer to watch movies in complete darkness, which is always the best choice if you’re looking for the most cinematic atmosphere. However, I was very surprised to see that partial light from a lamp did not significantly wash out the image on the screen and it remained incredibly visible. At most, the partial light may have reduced image quality by about 1-5%. My projector setup was pointing toward the wall, positioned behind me and about 12 feet away. Performance use with other Hardware: I first tried Streaming TV with my PS4. I typically like to stream on Tubi, HBO max, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. I recently streamed Kong X Godzilla in 4k on prime and it was great! The image quality felt just like being at the movies, and that is even with using a white wall as a projection surface. Streaming TV with Amazon Fire Stick: First off, there is a special slot at the bottom of the projector that is intended to fit the Firestick hardware perfectly. In order to install it, all you need is a Phillips head screwdriver and about 5-10 minutes of patience. The process was very straightforward, and the slot it was inserted to was labeled HDMI 3. After installation, the firestick has worked seamlessly and my wife couldn’t be happier : ) DVD movies with PS4: I watched Tron:Legacy and found that the quality was really good, however it was certainly not 4k. After watching a 4k film by streaming, it is clear to me that the constraints for Video quality comes from the hardware being used or the source of the film file. Steam deck gaming with specific games: I mention some of my experience with Hades in the latency section, but I found the gameplay to be tight and responsive while simultaneously maintaining excellent presentation of the image and artwork quality. I would say it performs excellently with Hades. That said, I think it was even better with Forgive Me Father. The vibrancy of the games cell shaded graphics really popped with the projector's image quality. Outside of that, I found casual web browsing via steam deck to work out with the browsers scaling well a resolution that is more than adequate. Adjusting picture quality: One of the coolest and most convenient features of this projector is its autofocus ability. When powering up the Trivision Ultra, it will automatically calibrate and autofocus the lens based on its current projection distance and total size, and does not need to be manually adjusted (in my many personal experiences). If you happen to move the projector during this process, it will restart calibration. This is very different than many other projectors I’ve used which require a degree of manual lens adjustment whenever powering it on to account for changes in distance and angle. Sound quality: I wanted to see if the speakers emitting from the Projector would be good enough to use. I found that the sound is excellent and did not sound like it was coming from a tin can, speech was clearly audible, and I was surprised by the bass capability it has. I watched 4k Kong/Godzilla and the sound quality was very impressive. That said, my older projector quality is not bad either but it does not project its sound in the same way, nor does it have a solid bass. Connecting speakers and headphones with bluetooth was no problem, and as expected the sound projects very well. Brightness: My previous projector was a PJ40 which has an improved brightness white incandescent bulb. While that projector was dependable, the brightness doesn’t compare to the Trivision Ultra. The Trivision Ultra does not wash out on the edges with indirect partial room lighting, and even with full room lighting the brightness is substantial and capable of watching movies in the same way one would do with a television. The image is clear, crisp, bright, and complete throughout the projection even along the edges while viewing on a white wall. Latency: I played Hades on my steam deck using the projector and a wireless PS4 controller. While I noticed a very slight bit of latency, as is with all projectors and wireless controllers, it was in no way interfering with my gameplay and I was still able to easily win my run without an issue. I would say with a wired controller, there would be nearly no latency at all. Saturation: I’ve been blown away by the vibrant yet natural saturation of the colors using the projector. I watched Kong X Godzilla in 4k and was absolutely blown away by the color, image quality, and realistic fidelity. Contrast: The best test that I’ve done for this is the ability to play Hades on the projector at a fast pace and still be able to easily perform and track what is going on. The dark and light coloration is easily discernible and stands out well enough that details are very easily discernible. Immersion: Due to the image quality, the level of immersion is such that you can even feel queasiness when a film is showing first person flight maneuvers due to the realism. That is a super impressive effect! Portability: The Tri LED-Laser projector is very compact, but it also has a very sturdy handle that is built into the unit. It doesn't feel very heavy (feels like a 10-20 lb dumb-bell to me), and the weight distribution was not awkward. Color performance: The color is super vibrant and there is no blur, even around the edges and parts that are not center screen. Connectivity: I have streamed television shows using a PS4 and an Amazon firestick, including 4k movies (Kong X Godzilla) without experiencing any dropped connections, lag, or other issues. I noticed a couple 2 second quality drops that looked like video buffering, but that was a result of my internet connection and not the connection to the internet itself. Daily casual use: I personally think it is simply enough for anyone to use. It only took about 10 minutes to set up. My wife uses it with only a few basic tips from me. Hot tip - turn on the auto-detect feature so your projector will automatically switch over to whichever port it is receiving a signal from. That saves time and no longer requires you to change input manually. I personally love this feature. Maintenance: The fan is almost completely silent, even after using the projector for a 3+ hour session of streaming a movie on 4K. I think it has something to do with the LED laser technology being used, as opposed to the heat generated by the traditional projector bulb. Unlike my previous projector which has a removable filter that is recommended to be cleaned every 60 hours, the Tri-LED does not have a filter that is needed to be cleaned by the user. This is a HUGE improvement. The only other part of the projector that requires maintenance is the glass covering over the lens, and that is if I accidentally touch it or smear fingerprints on it. This is as needed, and is very uncommon for it to occur. Overall: This projector is a huge upgrade to my previous one and any other television / Monitor that I have owned in the past. The resolution and image quality, paired with the portability, and the incredibly adjustable screen size and features, I think it is preferable to a large TV at the same price point. Due to the portability alone, I would choose this projector over any television and feel good about it due to its quality and even 3D capability.

Short version: This thing is amazing, unbelievably so. I will never buy a non-laser projector again. Nexigo is quickly becoming my go-to brand. Long version: It's hard to describe how amazed I was the first time I turned this thing on, it was just SO good. The color, the sharpness, the brightness, even the sound. SO good. The tri-LED laser technology Nexigo used in this projector is simply amazing and it deserves all the accolades it has received (a CES Innovation Award AND a Red Dot award? It deserves it!). I wanted to put this thing through its paces to see if it could handle different setups I use, especially non-traditional setups, and I'm pleased to say it handled everything I threw at it with ease. I now use this projector every day, and I will never go back to a bulb-style projector. Projecting on designated projector screens is a no brainer (I have both indoor and outdoor screens), but I wanted to see how it could perform as an "out-of-the-box system" for those who would love to have a home theater, but maybe can't afford the entire system of screens and audio. So I placed it on my nightstand, angled it towards the typical tan/beige-painted interior house wall directly in front of my bed, and turned it on. And I just laughed, it was that good. You would never know that I wasn't projecting on a PVC projector screen. The brightness and sharpness were incredible, even on a regular old tan-painted wall. The crazy thing is that I had the projector aimed at the wall at about a 30+ degree angle and I could not tell any difference in sharpness or brightness across the image. That's incredible. After adjusting for the keystoning (which can be done automatically or manually, which is nice), I expected there to be softness issues with the edges of the image because that's what would happen with a conventional bulb-style projector in this situation, but to my very happy surprise, the image was sharp from corner to corner! The laser technology is absolutely incredible. With a bulb projector, I would focus the image in the center of the screen and the edges would naturally be slightly soft/out of focus because one side of the screen is closer to the projector while the other side of the screen is further away, in other words, the edges of the image are not in the same plane as the center of the image, and therefore will naturally fall out of focus. Not with this Nexigo! I was blown away at how sharp the image was all the way across the screen (you can see the sharpness of the grid pattern in the images I uploaded. The red and purple images are opposite sides of the screen. Both sharp!), even though the projector was pointed at a pretty crazy angle towards the wall! Furthermore, there was no noticeable difference in brightness across the screen either. For all intents and purposes, one would assume the projector was pointed directly perpendicular to the screen, smack dab in the middle. It was simply impossible to tell that it wasn't centered. Fantastic. I do have to say that I get a little hesitant with devices that are too "automatic" because it can be relatively easy to confuse the system, and this projector was no exception. It's important to me to have access to customizable manual controls in order to manually adjust features that would otherwise be a problem for the auto-systems. The auto-keystone feature on this projector is great, but it got a bit confused because of some of the walls in my room coupled with the strange angle, but I was very happy to find that the manual keystone adjustment feature in the settings menu is super precise, making it very easy to get an almost perfectly squared image. In fact, I'm really impressed with the level of manual customizability they have built into the OS that runs this machine. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a situation that you couldn't adjust for in the menus. The auto-adjust features for keystone and focus work great and will probably suffice for 90% of the situations you would use a projector like this for. But it's nice to know the manual options are there when needed. The build quality is solid, just what I have come to expect from Nexigo. The handle on the top is actually a pretty nice feature. I tend to move things around a bit, and the handle has come in "handy" multiple times now (lol). As you can tell from the picture, the projector is more of a boxy style, rather than the typical thin/flat style of most projectors, which may prove to be a problem if you have limited space, like maybe if you intend to hang this thing from a low ceiling, but I don't have any problem with it. One thing that I was very surprised by, is the sound. Both the audio out and the lack of fan noise. The fan is almost imperceptible, which is a huge bonus over a bulb projector. If you are more than 3-4 feet away, you would not even know the machine was turned on; it's that quiet. The projector has Dolby built in, both for video and audio, and the sound quality coming from the built-in speakers is really quite respectable. Anyone who has used projectors knows that the internal speakers aren't good for much of anything, but not with this projector. The speakers are honestly just as good as some TVs on the market today. They obviously aren't as good as a full audio setup, but again, for the person wanting an out-of-the-box theater setup, this would easily do the trick, especially indoors. Outdoors may be a bit of a struggle for it to overcome regular outdoor ambient noise, but if you are sitting close, it might would do okay. As far as video performance goes, it performed flawlessly. I have tried a bunch of different sources and they all look great. Gaming is my main go-to when trying out new projectors because of the high frame rates and intense graphics, and this thing absolutely excelled. I have a few different consoles and I've been gaming on this thing for weeks now and it looks fantastic. Besides, there's just something awesome about playing Halo, Destiny, and Zelda on a 12-foot screen, lol. It does great for movies as well. Honestly, one of the most difficult tasks for a home projector is using it for an external monitor or screen mirroring device for a computer. Displaying a computer screen can be a real test of performance because text can be notoriously difficult to get right on such a large screen, especially when it's the small type we are used to seeing on computer screens. Many projectors just can't handle small text and you end up with blurring and/or moire. Not here. This thing was tack sharp! Even through wireless screen-mirroring (which is super easy to do through the built-in settings). Again, very please with the results. Do keep in mind that if you are intending to use this as a home-theater projector, you will need some sort of streaming device (I use ROKU and Fire TV, which it has a built in compartment for). For copyright reasons, you cannot screen-cast most streaming services. You need to be plugged in to do that. All in all, I do not think you can go wrong with this projector. I have had multiple projectors from many of the major brands (BenQ, ViewSonic, RCA, Panasonic, etc.) and this thing has outperformed everything I own. This is the third Nexigo projector I have purchased (I have the PJ20 and PJ40 - which I use daily), and I'm confident it won't be the last. Needless to say, Nexigo is quickly becoming my favorite projector brand, and the 4K Tri-LED laser technology in this machine has made this my all-time favorite projector. If you are on the fence, just buy it. You won't regret it.

This was an impulse purchase during Prime day, but I was actually pleasantly surprised with how great it performed during our vacation. We took it with us for a week in a rented house in the woods that happened to have large slanted ceilings. The photo shows how crisp and clear the picture is with minimal manual adjustment (we tweaked the edges a bit just to suit our preference) from roughly ~20ft away in the living room (using the gimbal). Brightness is solid for this size/price point and set up was really easy with Google TV. It takes a bit to boot up initially but once it's up and connected to the internet, it's super responsive. The gimbal is an additional purchase but it's very sturdy and doesn't wobble like another cheaper gimbal I have. I already have a portable power bank I take with me for outdoors/car vacations so I do not miss an onboard battery. Onboard sound seemed pretty decent, but we mostly used a portable Bose bluetooth speaker with it and didn't have any issues with connectivity. I also love the remote and the fact that it lights up for easy use in the dark. I'm super happy with this projector and it will be coming with me to all my future Airbnb adventures!

Pretty good at the price. Pros: - Good colors (slightly washed out but I'm sure some settings could fix this) - Responsive Google TV module. - Nice and bright. Usable in a dimly lit room Cons: - Pixels are oddly shaped and I was unable to get the image in perfect focus. I've used Optoma projectors in the past that have perfect focus. I could get the outer corners to be perfect but the middle would be VERY slightly soft. Enough to notice. The odd shape of the pixel makes the image look noticably soft compared to the competition. First picture is this projector, second is an LED Optoma projector (half the price). - Fan speed kicks on and off. For some reason the fan goes to high speed to low speed to cool the unit instead of just a constant middle speed. Overall good image with a nice and compact form factor.

I’ve wanted a projector for home entertainment for a while. The idea was to set something up in the living room where the family could get together and watch a movie. After trying several projectors in the past, I always found it to be too cumbersome as you had to have a computer or a separate streaming device hooked up. The NexiGo Nova Mini finally fixes that issue due to its inclusion of Google TV. Setup of the projector was simple. Power it on, connect to your home network, and login to your Google account. After that, it spends some time downloading the latest software. Here is the first big advantage. You are not dependent on NexiGo to provide software updates. They are coming directly from Google and once done you have the latest version of Google TV on your device. Next up is configuring for your screen. Bring the projector back far enough from the screen that the image overlaps the edges. If you have the projector set to its defaults, it will redo its auto-focus and adjust keystone to have the image fit on the screen. I found that this was good enough to get up and running but wasn’t precise at getting right to the edges of the screen. It worked better for me to have the auto-keystone run when the projector first powers on, but to let me do a manual adjustment afterward. The interface for keystone adjustment is really easy to use and only took a few seconds to get the four corners right at the edge of the screen. Finally, pick your evening entertainment and watch. I have a Google Streamer on my main TV with all of my streaming services (Netflix, Prime, & Disney+) configured. It only took a minute to get logged into those services and I was ready to start watching. First family movie night was from Disney+, Snow White. Being bright and colorful you could really see what the projector was capable of. The laser projects a bright enough image that in a dark room some scene changes could cause you squint. The image was much sharper and brighter than any projector I’d used before, which were all LCD based. Sound was one of the few hits this projector has to take. The onboard speaker is not very strong which prevents it from having crisp sound. However, for how small the projector is, you can’t expect full room sound. It is good enough in a pinch. The projector does have Bluetooth onboard, so any speaker system you want to setup can handle audio. I had a fairly old powered speaker that I used. It is old enough that the Bluetooth has never had good audio-video sync so I hooked it up with a cable instead. Worked like a champ and switched to the aux audio as soon as the cable was plugged in. Now, what sort of rating does this projector deserve? If it was just a projector, I would probably put it at 3.5 to 4 stars. It is good, but nothing spectacular. However, once you add in Google TV, it becomes a definite five-star home entertainment device. The Google TV interface is far beyond what you typically see in the onboard software for projectors. You never leave Google TV either. All projector setup functions are handled through menu option in Google TV, which gives you the same clean interface. This projector would not be the best for a business or classroom environment. However, for home entertainment, you would be hard pressed to find something better with an easier to use or more comprehensive interface. If you don’t want to drag half a dozen devices to your watching location, this is the integrated projector with Google TV you are looking for.

This projector is very near, but not perfect. So the upside is that it’s capable of a phenomenal image, great color and the powerful light system makes is reasonably effective even in moderate ambient light. There are a couple of things to consider though. First off, the interface software is ok but a few things are missing, like the ability to lock settings, the auto screen adjustments aren’t effective, and some settings like auto focus and adjusting the perimeter of the image don’t always work if you go through the basic menu the first time. But, once you set up the picture it all sticks except sometimes I feel I need to check the focus. The good news about the focus is that you can attach the “input” button on the remote to open manual focus and it opens up a focusing pattern that you don’t get through the main menu but is much better than the one you do get through the main menu. And it’s got a wheel image that lets you know you’re making adjustments by spinning. Then you can get up close with your reading glasses on (I’m 55) and really “dial” it in which works amazingly. You do need to set this up by assigning the button on the remote which is done through the main menu, so an extra step to get this particular adjustment but well worth it. One other issue if you can call it that, is that this machine, due to the laser light source, still could have speckle issues despite the LED system designed to reduce it. Forget about using an inexpensive gray screen or anything reflective or silver. You will have speckle on a silver screen that makes it impossible to watch, I tried. It seems (I’ve read) that the fresnel ALR screens can give you some protection from ambient light but for 120” that I use it’s a $2000 upgrade as I write this, and even for that price it’s compromised if you use a ceiling mount because the screen must then be used upside down which reduces it’s ability to reject light from above so not great. I started on my cinewhite yardmaster 2 screen (1.1 gain) and although you could barely find speckle even if you look hard for it, the gain was enough to make it feel overpowering to watch. But I’m updating my review to include my new screen. I went with the Qualgear acoustic white which uses a fabric that’s possibly treated but according to their documentation has a 1.0 or .9 gain depending on where you look. The screen has no black backing and some transparency so you need to blackout the wall behind it and the support rod in the middle of the frame or you will see it reflecting back at you. Once all this is done the fabric type acoustic screen (not the perforated type) is the answer. Perfect picture, perfect color, no imbalance, easy on eyes, 3D is phenomenal and they’re far less expensive than fresnel ALR. I got my 120” for $150 and my wall was already black so I only had to blackout out the frame support and it’s awesome. I found my screen and if you have a triple laser projector then you should be looking for a fabric screen but not cheap spandex, that was a waste of time. So, the image is great on the neutral (give or take) flat white screen, and perfect on acoustic fabric white, but you then have to work a little harder to reduce ambient light. A little is ok, and this projector overcomes it much better than my Optoma HD27HDR did, but light on the screen is light on the screen. Since my space is more of a media room than a living room I was able to black out the ceiling for 5 feet or so over the screen out into the room and that helped a lot to reduce light reflecting back on the screen. White ceiling is bad. As far as picture quality in a darkened room, it’s awesome. The Dolby Vision and superior light source and factory calibrated color is all top notch. It literally looks like a 120” LED on the wall. It’s fantastic for gaming, the detail in dark scenes and its ability to show a huge dynamic range with no artifacts (unlike my Optoma) is beautiful. And did I mention the 3D? I’m using cheap sub $20 active DLP link glasses and it’s literally the best 3D I’ve seen since I saw the original Avatar in a high end theater that had Dolby 3D which is a passive polarized and color blended system that at the time totally blew my mind. This is essentially the same quality and my 3D movies all look as good as the production allows, the projection system is not the weak link. Being an audio person for decades, I’ve learned that even when you have fantastic equipment, if the room is poorly shaped or has features that work against you you will never get to your gears full potential. Projectors are similar in that you will never achieve the best possible image with too many compromises in the room. If you cannot set up for a dedicated theater space, it might be better to consider an UST projector matched with an ALR screen, that’s the setup that give you the best chance to enjoy it with normal light in a room. But, as ceiling mounted standard throw goes, on a plain and cheap white or fabric acoustic screen, this projector would be tough to beat for the price. These pics are on my Yardmaster cinewhite screen, taken before I got the acoustic screen. The first pic is a darker image with my sliding doors open (no curtain) so moderate ambient light. The rest are with curtains drawn closed and a fairly dark room though not pitch black. Gives you an idea how this thing looks. Combined with the acoustic white fabric screen, this projector is top notch. I’m honestly blown away by its capabilities. I can’t imagine how I could do better without spending serious money, like 5 figures serious. If you’re contemplating buying this projector you can’t do better for less than $3k and that would be an incremental upgrade. If this is in budget, it’s the one. If your budget is $1000, save more or steal the rest, lol.

Decent quality projector, picture quality on a 120” projector screen was acceptable. Start up of unit takes a long time and sometimes several attempts, felt glitchy. Was not impressed, but did work. The remote is also very delayed. Not as seamless as other streaming devices (comparing to Amazon fire stick). All features work well and the Bluetooth audio pairing was awesome for connecting speakers! Used indoors for streaming World Cup games in garage with some windows and showed okay. Would not recommend using outdoors even at dusk. Any outside lighting ruins the picture. Had to cover all the windows.

I’ve been looking for a projector that could handle both a permanent indoor setup and be portable enough for outdoor events. After setting the TriVision Ultra up in my backyard for a movie night with my wife and kids, the image and sound quality were a significant step up from other projectors I’ve owned or used. I even took this into work and set it up in our conference room. I work in the IT department, and even projecting onto a regular wall with no screen at all, my coworkers were impressed by the clarity. At a 100-inch screen size, the 120Hz refresh rate performs as well as my high-end gaming monitor. Input lag is a non-issue, and even with the brightness turned up, the fan noise is negligible. To get the best results, I’d suggest an ALR screen to maintain contrast, but the brightness is strong enough to hold up well on a standard surface. The setup is where this unit separates itself. The Auto Focus and Auto Screen Fit features work perfectly right out of the box, leveling the image and matching the screen dimensions without any manual hassle. The interface is easy to navigate and the build feels solid, with a handle at the top that makes it easy to move around. The built-in sound is capable on its own, though for a full home theater experience, I’ll likely pair it with a Bluetooth soundbar. We usually play a movie for all the families at our annual church campout, and I can’t wait to take this to the one we have coming up this November. The overall quality is superior in all regards to what I've owned in the past, and I’m sure this is going to look great for the group. It’s a premium investment, but the quality makes it worth the cost.
