I have this camera for a year or so and I don’t know if is the best one out there, but the recordings are very clear in all conditions (day/night). Very easy to set up and the app works very nicely with the new features they added. I got last year on a good Cyber Monday deal. A +++

    • Wastes my metered wifi during the day on a slow connection
It only uploads data in the morning, won't use mobile data, and instead wastes my metered wifi on a slow country connection. How is this fair to the end user? You're throwing it all away, guys. You could have an ace product, but this is just wrong... Here's the transcript from customer support at Nexar. Me: How do I configure the smartest camera in the world to sync over 4g while I sleep instead of its current config where it syncs over my metered wifi in the morning while I'm watching TV on the same network? Support: Thanks for contacting Nexar support. Unfortunately at the moment there is no setting to change this behavior:  Full drives are uploaded to the cloud in a timelapse format on a best effort basis when the user is connected to a WiFi network. Short clips are uploaded in full HD via mobile data.  I'll send a feature request to our dev team for your concern, but I can't promise when, or if it will be implemented. Thank you! Me: Alright. How do I shut it off so it just stays on my phone in the meantime? Support: Apologies for the delayed reply, I was checking with the team. Sorry to say this, but there is no way to turn off this behavior as well. Me: So in other words, I can either use your product and have a dash cam, or I can use the allotment of data on a slow country connection so I can work my job as a software engineer? How is that a benefit to me? Support: I understand where you're coming from, and I'm sorry you're in this situation, if there was a way to turn off the options I would gladly give them to you. Right now the only alternative I can think of is not to pair the dashcam to the app. The dashcam itself will still record to the SD card when power is supplied, but if you want to retrieve videos you'll need to pull them off of the SD card manually. END TRANSCRIPT UPDATE: I got a response saying to pull the data from the SD Card instead. It's not ideal, but because they probably sell our data, they probably won't let us disable the push to cloud. Maybe they'll give us a way to schedule those and use our unlimited mobile data instead. Let's hope... UPDATE: After months of using this thing, I've grown to not trust Nexar. There's no way to see the internal camera footage, not on the app nor their hidden cloud website. You can only download footage from their hidden cloud website without the option to keep it locally. (It streams to your phone and then forces you to upload it to their website whether you like it or not, and then you need to waste more time and bandwidth downloading it all over again.) It's disgusting that they built this expensive camera, charge for an unusable upgrade, force you to give them all of your data, and they sell it without your consent or paying you royalties. This behavior will get them sued in a class action, just like what happened with Facebook. ... show more

It records inside the car with nightmode so video is visible even at night plus it also includes automatic upload to the cloud so none of your recordings get lost. Plus it records audio. A must have for rideshare drivers.

This is my third Nexar DashCam. Not that the first two were trashed and no good. But this is good enough for me to buy one for each car. Price might be a bit much, but it is priced right for me. This is my first with rear facing second Cam. So I could see front and rear. Not. The rear facing is for cabin recording, not rear windshield recording. I will need to test if I could use extension to move the rear facing cam to the rear windshield. I don't like Nexar different type of mounting system. The first two I purchased were ball mount, and this third is slide mount. I mean the connections from the DashCam to the suction cup mount on the windshield. Why don't they, all Cam companies, just choose one type. Quality is good for day recording, but night recording is not as clear. I mean like license plate, which glow and not able to see the letter and numbers. Nexar doesn't have LCD screen. It has MicroSD to record in a loop. I am using max 128GB chip, which should last more days. For real time viewing, I need to connect to my smart phone with app and watch driving on the phone screen. Also, hope you are good with setup. Because sometime the app start recording automatically and sometime it doesn't. For me, now I just connect to my app before I start driving to make sure it does recording on my phone. But you could always get recording from the MicroSD card if you don't need to see while you are driving. ... show more

    • OK, but has annoying flaws
Camera overall is OK but I wouldn't buy it again because there is one major flaw. The camera doesn't automatically stream to my phone because I use wireless Car Play. This wouldn't be a big deal but here is the thing. The app to view the videos on the device is terrible. If the video wasn't streamed to you phone you can't see it in the app. No problem you say right? I will just connect the SD card to my computer and retrieve the videos. Well yes, sure, but there is a huge but here. The SD card is not compatible with Apple devices. So now you have to "find a friend with Windows computer" (this was literally the advice given to me by Nexar support). OK, you finally found a friend who uses Windows, you connect the card and there are 7 million videos on the SD card!! Each video is split in tiny chunks of only couple of minutes long so if you are trying to find a specific moment from a long ride you will be sitting there for hours trying to figure out which video it is. The picture quality is what you would expect from 1080p, it sufficient but not great, setup wasn't terrible but again tricky because of Wireless Car Play that needs to be turned off in order to connect the camera. If I had to buy another camera I would go for something that doesn't stream automatically but instead has a good app that lets me easily access videos on the camera, similar to how home security cameras work. ... show more
