I really like that easy to install and everything was fine. However it didn’t work on my doorbell because it was overheating. I really couldn’t understand why and I didn’t want to keep it that long because it might be a fire hazard so I think it’s a great chime box I’ve ever I couldn’t understand the part on my house while it’s overheating. This doorbell chime was indeed a good value, and a good replacement for the old one that starting doing a 'thunk' instead of a ring. Consideration: this doorbell is best suited for smaller homes. It may not be loud enough for larger or more complicate homes. Not a problem in ours. Problems: I can just imagine the design engineer testing the prototype at a bench and congratulating him/herself for their brilliance. I can assure you that if they'd done replacements in a few homes they would have modified their design 1. The wire inlet hole in the back measures just 3/8" diameter which made threading the existing wires in more of a challenge than necessary. It also removed any flexibility in positioning this replacement to hide marks left by the previous one. 2. The design engineer would certainly have changed the mounting flathead screws to ones with a Phillips head...the engineer would have experienced frustration trying to keep the screwdriver in the screw head slot one handed while holding the chime, and it taking two minutes or so....while a Phillips head can be done in only 15 seconds. Faster with an electric screwdriver. ... show more

My old chime seized up. Got this for a great price... All I had to do was remove the wires from the old one, take it off the wall, and put this one back on the same way.... Tested it and works fine. Plenty loud for my average sized house. As long as it holds up I see no issues with it.

It seems like old-school electric doorbells are getting less common in a world full of Ring cameras and the like. However, there are hundreds of thousands of these still in use. Recently, our doorbell died of old age, and I replaced it with this one. Other than the fact that the mounting screws didn't line up with the old ones, it was a simple and easy exchange. The new doorbell has different chimes for front and rear door (if your first doorbell was wired properly), and it bongs quite pleasantly. better than nothing. the bell sounds partial when it drops like the mechanism is not installed straight. I'm not talking about the back doorbell position, either. I could probably troubleshoot, but this is such a simple device, not sure why that should be necessary.

We purchased this to replace our old one when we for a ring doorbell. Found out there is another part we have to replace - but this looks good and is a nice update from our old brown one. Easy to install. No issues.
