My husband and I have had a wide variety from low to mid-range fitness and strength products over the years, so when he wanted a lower-priced Oly barbell, we thought of Cap as our experiences have overall been good with them for over 25 years. We have found that sometimes their chromed equipment has sharp edges or flakes, so we went with the 60in, Solid Bar, Black. My husband is lifting 300 pounds max - usually less - and I'm lifting 100 or under, so this bar seemed good. And it is just what we wanted. It's lighter than an official bar but heavier than a 1-inch standard bar, the black finish is attractive with no flaking or sharp edges at all. The knurling is comfortable and grippy. The sleeves don't stick, and while I don't think they have bearings or bushings, for this price, we weren't expecting any. The black finish is coming off of the sleeves in a couple small places, but for the price, we expected that. We're using it almost daily, with and without a small rack, and are completely satisfied. This is a budget-priced all-solid bar, so we didn't expect an Ohio Power Bar or something like that. We bought this bar as it will work for our needs and costs around 1/4 of the price of a value bar and about 1/8th of a price or less of a high end bar, but we don't need a high end bar. And to bring a solid bar in at this price range, there are going to be compromises, but we knew that going in. Overall if you don't want to spend too much money but don't want a hollow barbell, this is a solid option. We're getting a lot of use out of it, and plan to keep using it for years to come.

Although Amazon completely destroyed one end of the cardboard box the bar was undamaged, which indicates good protective packaging. The chrome finish is very clean and smooth, and the knurling on the bar feels just right with and without gloves. The 28mm size feels substantial but not oversized. This bar is actually round. I have another Olympic bar (not Cap brand) that came as part of a complete set, and you can feel several flat spots around the circumference of the bar. When spinning the new bar inside the bearings with no load there is some squeaking, and I'll probably disassemble and lubricate it. Otherwise, there is no excessive play in the parts. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. It looks and feels like a high end bar but without the high end price. I have a small workout space and the 5' length is perfect for dead lifts, freeing up my 7' bar to become a permanent home on the bench.

I haven’t tested the weight capacity of the barbell, but with around 150lbs on there it doesn’t bend or seem sketchy. The thickness is a good size for all hand sizes. The grip on here is great, a little sharp to the hands but after a while I assume it’ll de sharpen a tad. The spin is like any other barbell, not too much and not too little. Versatility is a little on the lower end because it’s 7ft lol, but if you get the smaller barbells I’m sure you can do a lot more. Highly recommend.

The 5-foot bar is a really great size to fit in my workout room in the basement (about 10' by 10'). The only issue I have is that the grip is too narrow for the bench that we have. The image shows that it is 37", but it's actually 33". It also lists the knurling as 13", but it's about 10.5" (but this didn't matter to us as much). Other than the grip size, this is a fantastic bar, and particularly so given the price! We've only put 70 pounds per side, but there's no bending or anything like that. Very impressed with this brand, and likely to buy it again. I really just wanted to write this review as it may impact someone else's decision, because of the inaccurate numbers presented in the measurements photo (at least as of 1/4/2026), and to add that the quality of the bar is very high. Because of the incorrect size displayed, I'm struggling to find a bench that will accommodate this size.

I’ve been using this barbell for a few weeks now, and it has far exceeded my expectations, especially for the price point. First, the packaging was top-notch. The bar arrived well-protected and wrapped in plastic, which turned out to be a lifesaver since it was raining on delivery day. Despite the weather, the bar stayed perfectly dry. One of the standout features for me is the knurling. It’s quite sharp, which I personally prefer, as I wear gloves during my lifts. If you like a more aggressive grip, you’ll appreciate the feel of this bar. It ensures a solid hold, which is great for heavier lifts. Another design feature I love is that the collar sleeves are held in place by a hex bolt instead of the usual spring clip. This is a nice touch for anyone who likes to take apart their bar occasionally for cleaning and maintenance. It makes servicing the bar easier if you're into maintaining the bearings or keeping the surfaces well-oiled. I’ve also noticed the bar has a bit of whip, which I became aware of while using it for landmine exercises. I rested the middle on a padded cinder block with 75 lbs on the end, and the whip was apparent. For most lifts, though, it performs just as you'd expect from a general-purpose bar. Overall, at this price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option for a typical home gym. Unless you’re looking for something highly specialized, spending significantly more on a bar doesn’t make sense. This one gets the job done and then some. Highly recommend!
