Almost 5 stars! I wish I could give it 4.5. The ice maker has a lot of positives, just a few drawbacks. Ice is made in two sizes. Both are bullet shaped, hollow cylinders. One size is just a bit thicker than the other. Both sizes are the soft, somewhat porous style that many people prefer. Being porous, the ice traps a bit of the drink's flavor, making a nice chewable treat at the end of a glass. The related drawback is that the ice melts more quickly than a solid cube. This dilutes some drinks more than desired. My wife is happy with the soft chewable ice, whereas I prefer a more solid cube that doesn't melt as fast. Personal preference is all, not a knock on this machine. The machine makes 9 cubes at a time, and it's very quick. Even though it's mentioned in the product description, it was thrilling to hear the first batch hit the bucket so quickly after I plugged it in. Now, 9 small ice cubes won't go very far by themselves, but it kept right on going and we've had a nice supply of ice ever since. It has a good sensor to start/stop ice production based on how much ice is in the bucket. If you start with a full water compartment, it's enough to refill the ice bucket a few times (I haven't tracked the exact amount) before you need to add more water. As the ice is made, it slides slightly downhill to the bucket. Unfortunately, this means it piles up on the near side of the bucket. Ice production pauses when it's "full" at that edge, even though there's room for more. Even if I'm not ready to remove ice, I can jostle the pile a bit with the scoop and another cycle will begin. The scoop is great. Ideally, people touch the handle and it keeps the business end "sterile". The question is, where do they set it down?? If they lay it on the counter, it can drip. If they lay it on top of the ice, then the handle touches the ice... and new ice falls on top of it, diminishing the "sterile" advantages of using a scoop. It is possible to stick the scoop vertically in the ice bucket on the right side. The lid closes and ice stays away from the handle. It's possible, just not intuitive. In a party setting, it's unlikely that everyone will return the scoop to the "right" place since there's no designated holder. The ice in the bucket tends to thaw fairly quickly. The only coolness is from the ice itself. It's not refrigerated (that would dramatically increase the cost of the machine). But it's also not well insulated. If you're not actively using the ice as it's made, the cubes quickly become one. With some gentle prodding of the scoop, you can break apart what you need for your drink. The longer it's been, the more likely the ice is a solid mass instead of individual cubes. As the ice thaws and settles, water drains through the large holes in the bucket, back to the reservoir. The cycle of melting and ice production happens 24/7. Cubes at the top are always fresh, but the bottom is always compromised. The ice production is not loud. But noticeable noise levels do come from the water pump and the moving mechanisms that drop ice to the bucket. It's not loud enough to interrupt a conversation by any means, but it's not silent like a refrigerator. When you're in the room you know it's running. Two more things on my wish list... I wish the ice bucket had a handle. The bucket comes out easily but a handle would be a nice addition. This would be helpful for times you want more than just a scoop of ice. You also have to remove the ice bucket to add water to the reservoir. I mean, you could probably pour water behind the bucket, but you can't see the Max Fill line. It's important not to fill above that line, because you don't want the water to touch the bottom of the ice and create a more solid block. I wish there was a better way to add water. I do think it's a great machine. Most of my family prefers the soft ice vs. the cubes or crushed ice produced through our freezer door. I couldn't quite bring myself to rate it 5 stars.

I’m honestly impressed with how well this little ice maker performs. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to move thanks to the built-in handle — I’ve already taken it from the kitchen to the patio. Despite the small footprint, this thing pumps out ice fast. From turning it on to getting the first batch of ice was barely 6 minutes. Each cycle makes 9 smooth bullet-shaped cubes, and by the end of the day, it’s capable of cranking out more than enough ice for drinks, snacks, and hosting. The bullet ice doesn’t stick together and is soft enough to chew, which my family loves. Even better, it runs quietly — definitely under normal conversation noise. I really like that it offers two sizes of ice cubes, which is surprisingly useful. The smaller ones work great for keeping seafood and bottled drinks chilled, and the larger cubes are perfect for iced coffee and smoothies. Both sizes come out clean, solid, and ready to use. Operation is very user-friendly. The infrared sensors work exactly as they should — “ICE FULL” lights up when the basket hits capacity, and “ADD WATER” pops on when it needs a refill. The control panel is simple and intuitive, and the one-touch self-cleaning function is a lifesaver. Just hold the button for a few seconds, and it runs a full cleaning cycle on its own. If you're looking for a portable ice maker that’s fast, quiet, and easy to maintain, this one checks all the boxes. It has already become one of my favorite countertop appliances.
