This was the first ice maker I ever purchased and I fell in love with it! I like how aesthetically pleasing the color of the unit is and just watching the process of how ice is made. Given that I didn't just stand there for hours, watching it make ice, but it really is a cool process to watch it slowly freeze and dump the ice into the bottom tray. The style of the unit is very sleek and modern. It's a good size unit and it just sits on top of my counter very comfortably. I like the blue digital LCD display panel it has on the front indicating the timer, when it's done making ice, and when it needs to be cleaned. It also has a indicating light that I'm low on water so I don't have to keep checking the reservoir! Pretty neat! There is also a plug on the side of the unit that let's you drain out the excess water inside. Since the vent is on the side of the unit as well, you don't have to worry about it being pushed against the wall too tightly and not getting enough circulation for the units fan to run. It's not too big, and makes about 50 lbs. of ice in the whole day. The cycle time isn't that long either, took less than 15 minutes to make a good amount of ice for my outdoor event. Overall, it's really convenient to have and makes ice much faster than waiting for the refrigerator to make them! I bought the NewAir Al-250W (the white one). Makes ice at a decent pace. It only makes 9 cubes per batch, while the other NewAir 50lb machines make 12. Also only makes one size of cube, while the others models seem to make 3 sizes of ice cube. You do need to keep up with removing the newly made ice from the machine as it melts fast if you don't. Our refrigerator ice machine water line kept freezing over, so I bought this to fill up the ice machine bucket and dispense it from our refrigerator. It takes awhile for the NewAir to make enough ice to do that job, but the ice does dispense from our refrigerator. Some reviews mention the ice sticking together in the freezer, which is true. Our ice dispenser breaks up the ice a bit anyway as it churns it out, allowing any frozen together ice to be broken apart. Note that we are not heavy ice users, and this machine suits our needs. If you really need a lot of ice and size options then one of the other NewAir 50lb models may work better for you. ... show more

    • All that it's cracked up to be - love it!
I got this because the ice maker on my refrigerator stopped working and I had a choice to get it replaced (and have it go out again in a year) or get an ice maker. I opted for the latter. I've only had this little machine for two days and I now have a full ice bin in the freezer and a backup bag in my spare freezer. I am like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, I can't stop making it. I have a tiny kitchen and it is a large item but I can soon put it away as I'll have enough ice for a few days. Here's a TIP: After the first batch of ice was emptied into the freezer bin, the new ice I made wasn't going into the basket on the machine and the "ice full" light would come on and shut it off. I contacted the company and was told a sensor must be bad and to return it to Amazon. This seemed a bit extreme so I watched the machine while it was at work. And the problem was the little flap over the basket, that works like a trap door. It got tipped up when I poured the ice out and it was stopping the ice from going into the basket. This was a great ice maker that could make more ice than you could use in a lifetime the only problem was that it was huge! My kitchen is very small and I don’t have room for what I own now but being disabled, I stock my freezer to the hilt when I get a delivery which leaves me no room in the ice bucket for ice. So now I can make my own and put some in a bag and squeeze it in the freezer. I returned this model just because of its size and bought a much smaller one. But if you’re one of those people who is always running to the store for ice then this is the machine for you. I highly recommend this product. It is well worth the price. ... show more

    • Very disappointed in amazon not standing behind something that is 7 months old
We love the machine but we bought in May and today it quit working. We have had it 8 months. For the money spent it should last longer than this. On retired income and 74 yrs old. I really need to know how to get this fixed. Very disappointed

    • Makes ice extremely fast, yet melts fast as well.
Makes ice extremely fast, each batch is about 5-6 minutes, much faster than my big igloo one I had before. Very quiet as well, Door suppresses sound very well. I took the little plastic flap off of the tray, that thing seems to do nothing but block you from getting the ice. Sensor across the tray is a lot better than the metal temp sensor that a lot of these have, as soon as you move the ice it starts working again. Overall it’s a great ice maker so far (week and a half of use), and it takes up very little counter space. The only complaint I have is that the ice melts very fast, so if you get this just make sure to keep emptying the tray into another bin to put in your freezer for permanent storage. ... show more

We have had several ice makers over the years but this is the absolute best! The bullet shaped ice is fantastic and just the right size to ice your drinks as well as fitting right down inside a water bottle! Fantastic is just not strong enough word for this machine!!!
