I looked over reviews and almost did't buy ,used it today sharpened 4 blades ,three for a John Deer 62' deck and one small push mower blade ,product works well and is a fast way to sharpen blades ,well worth buying- plus blade balencer way better way than my usual nail and hanging blade on it listen people don't let bad reviews turn you away as I used it and there is nothing wrong with unit actually I bought a second box ,I would say -this is for people with common sense set your clutch on your drill to Lowes setting and add more if it slips a lot -let the stone do the work even light pressure and hold drill firmly also keep parallel to mower blade as you advance up/ down the blade ,make sure drill is turning clock wise as that will keep screw tight that holds grind stone fixed in place -some people complain about screw coming undone the reason is drill is set in the wrong detraction lol also some buyers state its dangers I would not give them a plastic butter knife - another words it is absolutely safe to use ,I ran my cordless drill on low RPM at first then when I had a feeling for it I ran almost full RPM with clutch set on low pressure #2 out of 2-18 scale ,sorry for long review but the negative reviews are ridicules and product deserves an review that's TRUE ... if you use a drill /power tools once a year this product may not be for you and you should probably stay away from sharpening anything just pay some one to do it for You!!

So I have only had the chance to sharpen 1 blade with this so far but I have been happy with those results. I will say that this kit did not get the blade as sharp as a cooking knife or anything but sharp enough for a lawnmower blade. I will update as I use it more.

I got what I ordered in a timely manner. It looked like a good idea but didn't work that well. It was difficult to maintain accuracy.

After reading bad reviews, I decided to try anyway. It is a whetstone so you do have to keep it wet on the blade. This fixes the jumping and instability issues. Also it could come unscrewed. Try running the drill in the correct direction to fix these issues also. I will be sharpening my blade much more often now.

This is the worst thing I ever purchased from Amazon. Quality of stone is terrible. Not made for any mower blades. Too small of gap and the stones theme are too small. Don't waste your time and money.

Ordered the sharpening stone kit on a Wednesday, showed up on Thursday. I read all the reviews and learned a bunch from them - decided to take a shot at the stones. My Deere 44 inch mulching deck had 12 edges to sharpen (see pic) and I had previously used a metal file to sharpen the edges which proved to be quite time consuming. The blade metal proved to be hard. None of the edges had any dents or dings but were very dull. I used a 1/2 inch Dewalt corded drill motor, a firm grip on the motor, medium speed, direction of the chuck set for drilling (reverse made the motor and stone uncontrollable), safety glasses, left the blades attached to the mower, positioned a cutting edge up and horizontal, the blade edges are flat on the bottom and beveled from top to bottom. I only used one of the 3 stones to sharpen the mulching blades out of the kit and did not use water. Can probably use that same stone a few more times. The screw holding the stone to the mandrel never came loose. Took a few minutes to get the right angle on the drill motor with a bit of experimentation but found that the smoothest way was to hold the drill motor handle downward from the blade with the stone at about a 30 degree angle. Holding the handle high to the edge made the stone wobble a lot and was uncontrollable. I knew I had the right angle when the metal base of the stone scored a straight line on the bottom of the blade about an 1/8 inch below the edge. Only took less than a minute to do each edge with about 10 passes over the edge with light pressure and neither the stone or edge got hot. I didn't get an edge that was razor sharp but sharp enough and comparable to the edge I got using the file. Happy Camper.

I had high hopes that these would make mower blades sharpening easy... Unfortunately, I was mistaken. Though in theory these drill driver sharpening attachments have the correct angle and grit for cutting the mower blade metal - in practice they are very difficult to use, and dangerously ineffective. Once you get the sharpening stone spinning against the blade and feel you are making progress, the sharpening stone will dig into the mower blade too deep/hard and jump back into your face. After which you are left with a mangled blade and a bent backstop on the sharpening stone. To make matters worse, now the attachment is even more dangerous to use, because the metal back stop will be even more likely to jam the grinding stone into the blade. I cannot recommend this product. Please get yourself an angle grinder with a proper flap disc, or simply use a hand file. 2/5 stars
