I was 90% satisfied with my automatic door after we got it installed the last week of December 2022. About 10 days ago it stopped mid-close. Thankfully no chickens were harmed. Less than 2 months after installing it’s broken. My husband looked at it thinking we could uninstall and reinstall but the motor failed. I don’t know about weather proof but I do live in a high humidity area (South Carolina). Had it since February and it’s worked every day rain or shine under the protected run. The directions on how to program are difficult (for me at least but hubby understands it) it’s saved my chicken multiple times from raccoons. I ordered a different one after this for another coop and it’s not timer based. Works off of light. It’s horrible. You def need to be able to push a button to open or close for the stragglers and this one has one.     • The motor burns out easily.
I have replaced this unit once. The first door went out within two weeks. The motor locked up and couldn't be moved. The replacement died when a snake tried to enter the coop at dusk. The snake got trapped in the door and burned out the motor. I will not buy again. ETA: unit is total junk. Vendor replaced the unit once and the new unit also quit working, outside the return window. Had door in place for about three months. Came home one night to find one of my chickens pinned in the door. The sensor that’s supposed to detect chickens in the door failed. I had to force the door open to get the bird out. DONT RECOMMEND THIS

Timer design is great, it auto adjusts to time of year and sunset\sunrise. It retains time after power outage. It's quick install. However, the motor and gear assembly to open and close wears out in a few months trapping chickens inside or outside. Replacement unit failed in same amount of time. We bought one, and the motor stopped working within a few weeks. Had a replacement sent, which was prompt, and the door stopped opening within a couple weeks. Very frustrating. I just want to keep my chickens safe without wandering out to the hen house at 10pm each night. >> Now it says I can’t return the second one because we’ve had it 1 month, and had to return it within one month . The chicken door works great, the programming took a little bit but was sent the instructions and we got it done. The door opens at sunrise and we programmed it to close 30 minutes after sunset. Very happy with the way it works including the sensor so if a chicken is in the doorway the door stopped till the chicken get through the door. ... show more

bought a second one to replace first which did not work after 2 months. This replacement never worked out of the box. Just worthless. I reached out to the seller, and they asked for pictures, instead of just helping me fix it or getting a working one to me.
