I will say, at first I was very frustrated with my husband for spending this amount on a coffee cup, not to mention it was a VALENTINES present. Very unromantic and a little disappointing. However, after hearing why he wanted to get this for me, (knowing how much I complain about reheating my coffee in the micro every morning) I get it. This isn't my first Ember. I had the version 1 travel mug when it first came out (dead now, non-replaceable battery....) many years ago and I loved the idea of maintaining the temperature of my warm drink. A Yeti will keep your drink scalding hot for a long time but when you're sitting at your desk and get lost in something, it's nice to go back to your drink and it be how you want it. With that being said, this isn't made for people that use Android. My partner and I both recently purchased a version 2 mug and are having the same issues with connectivity. She's running a fully updated Pixel 4 and I have tried using both a Pixel 6 Pro & a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. On to the issues: Initial pairing was impossible. These ship with old firmware and we just couldn't get the firmware to fully download and install on any of our Android devices. The only way I was able to update the firmware was by connecting them to an iPad. Once the firmware updated, we could connect the mug to our phones. That was just the firmware. What about day-to-day use? I have to re-pair the mug to my phone every single morning. Sometimes I forget and am forced to hold a hot cup of coffee up so I can hold the button on the bottom of the mug to put it in pairing mode. This usually works. Sometimes it doesn't. I reached out to Ember support and they told me that my phone isn't on the supported device list. To be fair, many, many new phones aren't on the list. I don't think they appreciate the audience they're trying to sell to. There is a pretty good chance that if you're going to spend more than $100 on a mug that has bluetooth, you're probably using a phone from the last couple of years. They also mentioned that the mug still works without the app. This is true but part of the reason someone would buy this is to be able to change the temperature, depending on what you're drinking. So if you have an iPhone, this is probably going to work for you. If you have an Android device, best of luck! ... show more

Though this is admittedly a pricey coffee cup, with my very first use I thought “this is so worth it!” The highest praise I think is “ works as expected “ but more than that, it is a very well made and designed object. This product does keep one's coffee warm/hot as stated. I do not get the full 80 minutes off charge, it is much less. As I keep the cup on the charger by my desk instead of walking around with it, that is not a concern for me. It does keep it hot while on the charger. Reason for the four stars is due to their app. I like my coffee hotter than the default 135 degrees but must continuously pair the cup and app in order to maintain 145 degrees. That is an inconvenience and I have uninstalled the app. If one prefers their coffee hot to the default, that is not a concern for them. This is a high cost item; however, its benefit outweighs the cost if you like hot coffee and drink it as much as I. Their outstanding customer service also adds to that benefit. This is a company which stands behind their product. Eight months after purchasing, one of the charging pins broke making the cup unusable for its intended purpose. I contacted Ember and in less than two weeks was in receipt of a new charging coaster, free of charge. To customer service, 5+ stars. ... show more

OK so if you're into coffee I definitely recommend this cup. If you are like me, you have to usually reheat your cup of coffee a few times a day in the microwave unless you have a cup warmer, and even so when you take it off of the warmer it gets cold. This coffee cup keeps your coffee hot even when driving to work or around the house. You can control the heat using your phone which is awesome.
