Took me an hour to install and my phone died which made it take a full hour. Great system. If you have struggle installing this you probably struggle spelling your name or wiping

  • Affordable, Xfinity-compatible, reliable
Style: 200Mbps Max Download | WiFi AC1200
I chose this modem because of the price point and it’s compatibility with Xfinity. It has definitely delivered! It was super-easy to set up and provides great wifi. My service is 200bps and I was advised to get a modern over that amount to ensure full 200bps service. I don’t need all that, so losing a few bps was worth the cost-savings in a router to me. It’s great. I’m very happy with the purchase. If you’re looking for an economical router that is easy to set up and will deliver a good and reliable wifi signal, look no further! ... show more

  • DOES NOT COME WITH A COAXIAL CABLE
Style: 200Mbps Max Download | WiFi AC1200
Lol I bought this yesterday and it came in today which is great but it doesn’t come with a coaxial cable which is essential for installation. It literally tells you to plug in a coaxial cable in the instructions but it doesn’t come with one so I have to order one separately. This is ridiculous the product should either come with the cables essential for use or have a big warning when you purchase letting you know you cannot use the product without purchasing another product. ... show more

  • Poor-quality wifi, followed by customer service nightmare
Style: 200Mbps Max Download | WiFi AC1200
This modem/router was easy to set up, but there its goodness ended. The wifi signal kept dropping very briefly and coming back. This would happen occasionally even when my computer was sitting next to the Netgear device. But if I got far enough away to have a 70% signal, the wifi connection would drop every two minutes. (I verified that the problem was with the wifi, not the ISP, by connecting with an ethernet cable, thus bypassing the wifi.) Fine. Nothing but a glitch, I thought. But then I made the mistake of attempting to get customer service from Netgear. It was like entering a particularly nightmarish episode of The Twilight Zone. I won't bore you with all the hours of details. But just for a pair of examples: First, the startup guide said that if I wanted to log in to the device, I needed to be connected by ethernet. I hooked up the cable, typed in the login address -- and got a page that told me I could only use the function if I were connected by wifi! I connected by wifi and it still didn't work (even after I cleared browser cashe). Second, after hours of trying to get help online, I submitted a support ticket. The next day I received a "no-reply" email asking for items of information (my name, etc.) A "no reply" email asking for more information from me? Information THAT I HAD ALREADY GIVEN THEM when I submitted the support ticket, too. Nowhere in the email did they even address the issues I'd asked them to help with. Then they concluded "If the information provided did not help in resolving your issues, please log into https://my.netgear.com" -- where, guess what, there was no "support" beyond what I'd already received. And that was just a sample of the customer support nightmares, folks. (Oh, and they also seemed to think that Internet Explorer was the main browser their customers would be using. Wow.) Buy it because it's cheap. It may work for you. But if you buy it and have a problem with it, don't expect Netgear to care one whit about your issue. ... show more

  • Disappointed
Style: 200Mbps Max Download | WiFi AC1200
I was helping my friend to replace the provider's cable modem with his own. Saw that price $49.97 and could not help but grab it. Either it was a very good promotion or just a mistake. Regardless, it's now $99.99. Unfortunately, such a good price did not make me to keep it and I had to return it. It's' extremely hot. Not just warm. Really hot. Called the support and they submitted it was not normal. Saw a few complaints about it and realized it could be a design flaw. Just wonder, did not they test it? It's a fire hazard. Besides, it's not good for the electronics inside to work in such overheated environment. I've been having Netgear C3700-100NAS for over 2 years and it's barely warm to the touch. After it was activated over the phone with the provider I could not get the wifi connected. It kept saying "connected, but no Internet". Something like that. Then noticed the instructions read "connect to a computer with a network cable" to activate wifi. But my friend did not have a computer or any other device with a LAN port. Kept trying to reconnect for the next 5 minutes, almost gave up, but all of a sudden miracle happened. I noticed a browser popped up with the modem's IP address where I could login as admin and it activate the wifi. Why? I've helped quite a few friends of mine to switch to their cable modem router combo like Motorola and Arris and it was never an issue. The reason I did not have this kind of issue to connect to wifi with my own Netgear 2 years ago, because my desktop was wired back then and I did connect directly to the modem during setup. Anyways, sent it back for the overheating problem. Got Arris surfboard ac1600. Connected to wifi as soon as it was activated with no issues. Running it for a few days. Just slightly warm. Sorry Netgear. ... show more

  • Works well and for a much better price than renting a unit from Comcast/Xfinity
Style: 200Mbps Max Download | WiFi AC1200
I am happy with this router/modem combo. I have never purchased one before so I was a little intimidated that I would have issues setting it up and getting the internet to work. However, it was very simple to do. The Netgear instructions were clear and then I used the Xfinity app to connect once I plugged the unit in. I think I was connected to the internet within 10 minutes of plugging it in. For reference, I am using this with the Xfinity Performance Pro (200mpbs package). Currently, I am using it for things like two smart TVs, laptop, tablet, phone, PlayStation, etc. I have also had NO issues connecting to my work's VPN (which uses Cisco AnyConnect) using this (which is also something I was concerned about when reading reviews of other brands/systems). The only thing I am having trouble doing is changing the default password that the unit comes with using the online method. However, I have not tried to contact Netgear about this yet. Overall, I am very pleased with this and it was a great price. ... show more
