Introducing the NETGEAR GS305EP PoE+ Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switch with 4 ports PoE+ and a total PoE budget of 63W to power PoE applications such as VoIP phones, IP cameras for surveillance, wireless access points and more. GS305EP includes basic and advanced network management features to help optimize the performance of business networks. Management is also flexible via the easy-to-use web browser-based management GUI. Basic management features include VLANs, QoS, and IGMP Snooping, and advanced management features include advanced per port PoE control and uninterrupted PoE. Use VLANs to separate traffic for better speed and improved bandwidth, QoS to prioritize traffic for better delivery quality and IGMP snooping for optimized multicast performance at Layer 2 which is especially useful for bandwidth-intensive IP multicast applications such as IPTV. Advanced per port PoE controls manage the power of the PoE connected devices by enabling and disabling PoE power per port, PoE prioritization, PoE power limit per port and more. Lastly, unique to NETGEAR, it has uninterrupted PoE. Keep PoE power on even when the switch is updating firmware or performing a software reboot.

I’m using this switch for a home network, powering a tablet kiosk, and an access point and at the same time disabling some ports to just provide the data for smart TVs, work laptop and a Mac mini. It’s a great option to be able to combine a switch with POE instead of using it separate injectors that just require additional outlets for power. At least in my application, it’s working really well and I’m pairing it with a USB-C splitter from POE Texas for powering my tablet that uses WiFi. The switch allows me to disable the power and also allows me to adjust the amount of wattage to come out of each port. Very satisfied , however, it would really be great if these 5 and 8 port switches had rackmount options from the manufacturer but there are some sellers on Etsy that 3d print rack options for some of the more popular smaller switches ... show more

I really wanted to give this five stars, but I just couldn't. I work as a network engineer and there are a few features I wish were exposed in the user interface that I feel should be there. Most notably, I would like to be able to see the MAC forwarding table to know what devices are connected to each port. So far it has done what I expected from it. While the switch is a little expensive compared to the rest of the available switches, it make sense considering the built quality is far better from what I saw in other switches (mainly others being built from plastic)
