    • Does what it is intended to do.
This product was as described and does what it is advertised to do. I have used one in the past and have been pleased with it. I believe this product has been discontinued by the manufacturer. I assumed this was a new product but it was apparent that that the packaging had been opened. It had not pulled apart but had the bottom of the clear packaging cut away. The pencil and holster were slipped back into the original package and it was placed in a clear plastic bag to keep it from getting lost. The pencil and contents seem to be in unused condition. The pencil is simple to use. But from my experience, be sure to sharpen the tip. The tip just crumbled when I tried to use it but was easily sharpened and did not break thereafter. The only thing I don't like is you have to retract the lead every time you place it back into the holder. There should be a groove down the holder that allows the slider to keep its position. I've purchased two of these from a local big-box store and not Amazon, however, I wanted to share my experience with it. It's my go-to pencil for doing anything from framing to woodworking, but no matter how much I like it, it does have a couple of shortcomings. First, after only a few weeks of use, the sharpener in the cap no longer works. I made sure the lead path was clear and even tried adjusting the blade, but it still doesn't sharpen. I did send an email to the manufacturer over a month ago, but as of this writing have not received a response. The second problem is that the pencil uses friction to secure it in its sheath, and on many occasions, I have spent a lot of time looking for it. This is also the reason I've had purchased two of these as I lost the first one. There are ways to sharpen the lead using a small #2 sharpener, but the results are inconsistent and you have to carry the sharpener with you because the point dulls pretty fast. ... show more

I bought one of these several years ago at a local box retail store. I have used it hundreds of times but it finally broke. I immediately went back to buy another one but found out they no longer carry this model and the replacement is not nearly as good. So, I found this one on Amazon and immediately ordered it along with more refill pencil leads. Definitely would recommend, this pencil is awesome. Only improvement would be a better sharpener, the built-in sharpener isn't real sturdy, but does work. ... show more
