  • Customized Coffee at Home — With One Big Color Surprise
The Nespresso Vertuo Next (or “Up”) really feels like a modern upgrade while still keeping everything I already loved about older Vertuo machines. After using it, I have a lot to say—because it’s really good… with a couple of honest downsides. Let’s start with the pros, because there are a lot. The coffee itself is delicious. If you’ve never used Vertuo pods before, they’re not your typical pods—they create this rich crema on top that makes every cup feel more like a coffee shop drink. It’s never watery, and the flavor is strong and smooth. My father-in-law tried the green Stormio pod (my personal favorite with heavy cream) and literally called it “trucker’s coffee” because of how bold it is. That should tell you everything. One of the coolest features is how customizable everything is. Traditionally, you could double brew a pod to get a larger, more diluted cup—but with this machine, you can just adjust everything right in the app. The app is honestly impressive. You can tweak brew strength, temperature, and really dial in your perfect cup instead of settling for preset options. It’s also incredibly easy to use. Open the machine all the way, drop in your pod, and close it fully (yes, it feels like you’re about to break it—but you’re not). Then just turn it on and press the button again to brew. That’s it. No learning curve. The design is another win. It’s slim, doesn’t take up much space, and the swivel water container is such a thoughtful feature—it lets you position the machine pretty much anywhere without worrying about clearance. It also comes with a sample box of different pods, which is great for figuring out your favorites right away. Now for the cons. The biggest one: the pods are expensive. There’s no getting around that. That said, it’s still cheaper than buying coffee out, and the quality is honestly better than most coffee shops, so it balances out depending on how you look at it. My personal biggest disappointment though? The color. This is advertised as white… and it is absolutely not white. It’s more of a gray with a slight taupe tone. Not even close. If you’re trying to match other white appliances (like I was), just know ahead of time that it won’t match. Overall, this machine makes incredible coffee, is super easy to use, and gives you a level of customization that most home machines don’t. If you can live with the pod cost and the misleading color, it’s 100% worth it. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted!
I have been dreaming about owning a Nespresso since 2012—like, I was personally wowed by it at a blogger event in New York, and I never forgot it. Fast forward to now, and I finally made it happen. To be fair, I already have a full espresso machine that I LOVE (also by DeLonghi), so I wasn’t exactly lacking in the coffee department. But when I saw this was DeLonghi + Nespresso?? Immediate “add to cart.” No hesitation. Zero self-control. And honestly… best decision for our home coffee bar. The biggest unexpected win? We no longer have to wait on each other’s coffee. Before, it was like a polite but tense standoff—“are you almost done?” “just one more shot…” Now? One of us can use the espresso machine while the other pops in a pod and is ready in literally seconds. Peace has been restored in the household. Also, I have to give them credit for the setup experience. It comes with everything neatly organized—the machine, water tank, adjustable cup support, plus a whole welcome kit with different capsules to try, a $20 coffee voucher (which felt like a little bonus treat), and all the guides you actually need. Nothing felt overwhelming or confusing, which I really appreciated because I did not have the energy for a complicated coffee situation. It’s also super reliable—press the button, and it just works every time (which, honestly, is all I ask from anything before caffeine). The coffee tastes delicious, and I love how customizable it is. You can tweak the cup size and even the temperature through the Nespresso Smart App, which makes it feel a little fancy without being complicated. It also somehow recognizes the capsule you put in and adjusts everything automatically, so even when I’m half awake, it’s still making good decisions for me. It’s ridiculously fast (like, blink and it’s brewing), super easy to use, and I love that it does both coffee and espresso depending on the mood. Also, it looks GOOD. It fits right into our coffee setup like it belongs there, not like some random appliance we’re trying to justify. Anyway, after 10+ years of thinking about it… worth it. Absolutely worth it. My 2012 self would be thrilled. Definitely recommend! ... show more
