We just recently got rid of our malfunctioning 5yo Keurig. We bought a German pod brewer that was reviewed positively...returned for various reasons. Now, we tried this one. I am not going to lie...it’s a beautiful machine. Very impressive looking with chrome, seems well made, European design, etc. Very pretty pods, as well. What appealed to me: Positive reviews, recyclable pods, European design. I was afraid to use the pods that came with it (wasn’t sure if I’d be able to return the machine as I paid for the pods), so I tried a sample 8oz at Williams Sonoma. It was okay. I also brought home a preferred strength/size pod for my husband to try. He hated the foam and flavor (we have filtered water). Thing is, in my area it is NOT easy to find pods. They are not available at any Williams Sonoma, Bed Bath & Beyond, grocery stores, etc. My only option is mail order. Although the company tries to make it as easy as possible to order pods (and return used pods for recycling), it is not nearly as convenient as K-cups when it comes to this particular model (the original line has local offerings). My husband made up his mind after one cup that he wasn’t impressed and went straight to the instant coffee (not even the French Press)...not a good sign. So, although it is very pretty and a very neat concept, it went back. I think it’s time for a mini espresso machine - it’s Americano & latte time. For those considering, this brewer take very specific domed Vertuo line pods. Each pod has a bar code that is read by the machine. You pop in the pod, it is read, and then it brews. Some pods are 7.7oz, some are 4oz, etc. If you like a big cup of coffee, you’ll need to use two pods. Again, unless you live in a city with their “cafés”, if you run out, you are out of luck. ... show more
