For the price, this is a fine chair. It is comfortable, provides good lumbar support, and was straightforward to assemble. Two caveats to consider if you're looking to purchase: (1) if you have animals that shed in your house, skip the black chair and go with a lighter option ... this chair seems to attract pet hair like a magnet and is very difficult to vacuum due to the material AND this is the biggie (2) I was just working, using the chair and (as one does) used the armrests to pull myself up straight when - HOLY COW something sharp stabbed into the palm of my hand and left a nice gouge (see the attached picture, the "sharp" is located at about the bottom middle of the image). It appears to be a small wire of some sort, part of the construction I'm sure, but what a poor design! After leaving this review I plan to contact the manufacturer to alert them the design of the armrest needs to be reconsidered. I don't know of anyone who would appreciate being stabbed just for using their chair. EDIT: My contact with NeoChair customer service has been awesome, start to finish. I explained the issue with the chair arm, including pictures, and they sent a replacement set of arms to me ASAP. All along the way I was kept up-to-date on the status, including when the item shipped (they provided tracking information) up to when the item arrived. They even checked to ensure I'd received the item, asking if there was anything else I needed. They were very professional, prompt, attentive and apologized numerous times for the inconvenience. I'm updating my rating to 4 stars based on my experience with customer care alone. Even though there was a somewhat rocky start to the relationship I wouldn't hesitate to buy another chair from them.

[UPDATE: After about 2 months the chair developed an obnoxious squeak when leaning back, and it has only gotten worse. No amount of grease or tightening bolts fixes it. Now I can't use the chair at night because it annoys everyone trying to sleep. This is a common issue for these chairs and it's incredibly aggravating.] --- At this point I've gone through a dozen different task chairs from various Amazon sellers, and despite the prices they're all very similar in build and materials. The chairs may have a crooked hole here and there, they'll get creaky in a few months, etc. What differentiates them is how the sellers respond to the inevitable issues. The metal part under this chair was defective, I contacted the seller and they offered to send me a replacement, along with another gas tube, which I appreciate because it's tough removing the cylinders after assembly. You can get similar chairs for a little cheaper, but I got this one because of the adjustable (and removable) head-rest as well as the flipping arm-rests. These are great features for my small space. Maybe worth noting is that this chair does have "Neo Chair" branding on it, there's a tag on the seat and it's embossed on the base and wheels, but none of it is obtrusive. Also the instructions are nice, they're clear and printed on quality paper, unlike the crumpled photocopies I'm used to. This chair seems designed for someone roughly 5'6'' to 5'8''. With the gas lift fully bottomed out, my thighs rest parallel to the floor. With the lift fully extended, my thighs are parallel to the floor if I rest them on the chair's base. With the head-rest all the way down, it holds comfortably on the neck. With the head-rest all the way up, it holds on the back of the head. It looks pushed forward in pictures, but it's actually in a good spot. It also has some flex because of the flat profile of the connecting arm. The lumbar support plate is adjustable vertically, but I'm not sure how useful it really is yet. I mean, even if I stick my juicy butt all the way into the chair, the lumbar support only lightly touches my back, it's not actually taking any of my weight. So is it comfortable? Yeah, it's about as good as the other chairs. The mesh back is stiff enough to keep me properly upright on its own, and I think once the mesh wears out a little the lumbar plate will come into play (would be nice if we could adjust it horizontally, even just a little). The seat size is generous. The fabric on the seat and arms isn't scratchy. I can't complain much for the price, only time will tell how bad any creaking will get because some chairs are better than others. This one had locking screws included so maybe it'll last a little longer before needing a tune-up.
