Bowls are deep and hold a good amount of food for my dog, Mina! They are made of stainless steel, sturdy, nice, and shiny even after cleaning. They are of a good height and comfortable for my small dog, and probably fine for bigger dogs as well. My dog is an 18-pound Havapoo (Havanese/poodle). She loves her bowls.

It was hard to spend this much on a feeder for my very messy eating dog, but the mess we had to clean up every time our Irish Setter ate was driving us crazy. We tried bigger and deeper bowls and used bigger and bigger area rugs to limit the dry food and water from spreading over the kitchen floor but this never really worked. Within 4-5 feet of her old feeding area you could always find dry food and a lot of water, after slipping twice from water on the floor my wife said Fix it NOW!! Next Best thing? So I researched and read tons of reviews on all types of feeding setups but the "Neater Feeder" seemed to cover all of our needs, but cost was double the other raised bowl systems. But the overall design seemed to cover all of our needs and I figured if it did not at least improve the mess by 50% I'd return it. WOW!!! This Neater Feeder all but eliminated the issues by at least 90%, we no longer have to sweep up dry food every day and keep a roll of paper towels close by to wipe up the water on the floor, we don't even have to use a rug under the unit. Wife is happy, which makes my life sooo much better. We got the "Large" feeder since we have an Irish Settler [10 months], I was afraid the large would be too high for her but I thing the height helps lessen the mess. System Design and Bowls The "Neater Feeder" design was well thought out and it does cover almost any messy eating habits of your dog. The high outside walls and separate water drain keeps the dry food and water contained very well. In most cases any food that falls out of my dogs mouth hits the sides and falls back into the bowl or rolls down to the drain. The area were the bowls sit is slightly sloped to the drainage slots in the front of the top tray. This channels spilled water and food nicely, since the water is drained to a lower compartment the dry food stays dry enough for my dog to just eat that too. Both bowls are aluminum so they will never rust. I was worried the bowls would not be big enough, but they are and the water bowl is bigger [deeper] than the food bowl. After a few feedings we found filling the water and food bowls 2/3's or less also greatly reduced the mess too. The food bowl holds more than our dog eats at one time, since we have only one dog the food bowl always has food in it. The bowls are easily removable since there is a cutout on the holder to put your finger in to remove each bowl. I highly recommend you give this "Neater Feeder " a try, if you are tried of cleaning up that area when your dog eats or drinks it worth it. It's nice not to have to clean up this area every time we walk into the kitchen or have people over.

It's a little expensive, but it's a really good product. My son's dog is really a sloppy drinker and this product avoides water being everywhere. Is give it 5 stars if it was not so expensive.

This product does exactly what it says; it is a neater way of feeding cats. That said, it's also a bit more work. I have three cats. One likes to dig in the water dish for a minute or so before drinking, making water puddles on the floor. Another can't seem to keep food in his mouth when chewing and ends up spreading dry food out in a foot diameter. The last, thank goodness, doesn't have any messy eating quirks. I bought this because I am constantly having to both sweep and mop around the kitchen where the food dishes are. Usually it's daily but sometimes it's multiple times a day. Because I get both food and water everywhere, the food gets wet and starts turning to mush on the floor and it's really gross. So we bought this in hopes it would contain the mess and save my floor and sanity. My first warning is that the bowls are so tiny. The one we use for the food doesn't bother me at all but for water, it's just way too small for three cats. If we didn't have a messy eater who drops food bits into the bowl causing me to clean the dish and refill it a few times a day, I would probably have to refill it once or twice a day as it is because it's so small. My second warning is that while it does contain the mess, there still is a mess and cleaning it is easy but can be time consuming. I don't mind doing it once a day as it's much nicer than having to mop all the time, but if you have a messy eater and drinker like me and are looking for something to make it *easier* to clean up, this may not be what you're looking for. It takes me about ten minutes to clean both dishes, get all the food bits out from around where the dishes go and wash the darker bronze area and then clean up the bottom catcher portion. Sweeping and mopping took way less time but for my personal preferences, this way works better for me. Keep that in mind. Looks-wise, I really like it. It's discreet enough and small enough that I don't find it an eyesore in the least. The height is good for cats (although they do sell leg extenders separately) and two can easily fit their heads together in there side by side. My only non-messy eating cat is very skittish and paranoid and was very nervous about eating and drinking from this because the walls acted like blinders but after three days, he got over it and has no problems now. If your cat acts the same, give them a bit of time to get used to it before giving up. Overall, I would definitely recommend it as long as you are aware that this doesn't eliminate your need to clean up after your animals but at least contains the mess to a small area.
